11.5.2023 - Cade & MacAskill (Glasgow)
The frame is the making of a modern version of Pinocchio, a puppet who wants to be a boy. We encounter a transgender journey, the artists relationship, genial use of clos-up and split-screen techniques (?) acompanied by great wit. The conclusion is, he/she/they/them doesn’t want to be either a boy or a puppet, or a donkey or a whale, a lesbian or hetero ... BUT ALL OF IT, beeing able to transform and write their own story!
What a fun play and fantastic performance. My seating neighbour could not hold herself and it made me warm inside. And what a great message. This is what enjoying live performances is all about.

A fantastic, meditating dance performance. In the same philosophy of ION (2019). Here, I think it was more vivid, dressed obviously. A really memorable performance!

The last day of “forever whatever”. One word: gender. I liked it. The second I sat down on the cushion on the floor, I was transported from the sunday bubble onto another planet. Right into the world of the thoughts and intensions of the dancer and choreographer. That’s the beauty of this art form. It ended abruptly. Possibly because I was thinking about something else shortly before. But despite everything, the format, the time span - it's great.

Ich liess mich an zwei Wochenenden am Performancefestival “Forever Whatever” in Bern überraschen. “Ein Anti-Festival rund um das Thema Identität. …” das Video ist von woanders. Hier kamen kulturelle Ausdrücke in dafür fremden Kleidern auf die Bühne. Gefühle wie sie wahrscheinlich auch an einem fremden Ort, beim Zuschauen einer traditionellen Performance geweckt werden, wurden in mir wach. Ich wurde amüsiert, überrascht, gefesselt. Letzteres zum Beispiel ab dem Gedanken, ob jemand von der Peitsche getroffen würde. Die Vorstellungen durchbrachen die (fiktive?) Grenze zwischen Tanzvorstellung und Performance. Einhergehend mit dem Beschrieb des Festivals. Insgesamt interessant, sehenswert und unterhaltend.

Die Tänzerin und Choreografin Luzia Baumgärtner, war in meiner Schule und hat uns gezeigt, wie wir mit Hilfe ihrem “Tanzenden Klassenzimmer”, die Kinder in Bewegungspausen neue Inspiration geben können. Es waren witzige aber auch intensive zwei Lektionen, in denen die Choreografien geübt wurden.
