Humans are the only species on Earth known to use language. They do this by combining sounds into words and words into sentences, creating infinite meanings. This process is based on linguistic rules that define how the meaning of calls is understood in different sentence structures. For example, the word "ape" can be combined with other words to form compositional sentences that add meaning: "the ape eats" or append meaning: "big ape," and non-compositional idiomatic sentences that create a completely new meaning: "go ape."

Hardships in childhood could have lasting effects on the brain, new research shows, with adverse events such as family conflict and poverty potentially affecting cognitive function in kids for several years afterwards. This study, led by a team from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Massachusetts, looked specifically at white matter: the deeper tissue in the brain, made up of communication fibers ferrying information between neurons.

Interesting avenue for an holistic concept towards an advanced form of longevity.
Stanford Medicine researchers have developed a blood test capable of detecting cancers, the ways cancer resists treatments and tissue injury caused by non-cancerous conditions. The new test analyzes RNA molecules in the bloodstream. This type of RNA is called cell-free RNA because the tiny molecules no longer inhabit a cell. There are always fragments of both DNA and RNA floating in blood—byproducts of natural cell death from all types of tissues and organs throughout the body, including cancerous tumors.

Nazi thugs.
In case you are not up to speed there has been an ongoing movement in Idaho to replace every elected official with white supremacist Trump supporters. All Democrats and resisters in the state, whether they are running for office or just disagreeing, are harassed and threatened daily. They are often beaten, robbed, threaten with guns, have their homes set ablaze, have their personal property vandalized, stalked, and much more.
The white supremacy movement chose Idaho because it is remote, mostly rural, open carry, already a heavily red state, has minimal police presence, and gets little national attention. The ultimate plan is that Idaho will be the first domino and the white supremacy will spread to nearby states. Far right social media sites have been trying to get white nationalists to move there for ages. Google it,

Let me just come right out and say it: I love @BernieSanders. While many in the Democratic Party appear to be asleep, Bernie is leading the charge against the Trump regime. His "Fighting Oligarchy" tour is spanning the country and drawing massive crowds in Republican leaning districts. He's tapping into the anxiety that so many of us are feeling. And he's energizing us to stay engaged in the fight we're in right now — and the fights to come. Why do I love Bernie? I love his authenticity. Some people like Donald Trump because he says whatever he wants and he’s an asshole. Bernie’s authenticity comes from saying what he wants and speaking the truth. And although he’s blunt, he’s anything but an asshole. When he growls “this grotesque level of income and wealth inequality is immoral,” he means it. And he’s right. I love Bernie because he’s a true populist — a word that has gotten a terrible rap since Trump but should be redeemed. It means for the people and against the powerful. Trump pretends to be a populist, but he’s always wanted to be one of the powerful and has forever been in their pockets. Bernie is a true populist. I love Bernie because he has almost single-handedly changed the national conversation — turning proposals that had once been on the Democratic fringe into respectable, and in some cases mainstream, Democratic positions. Creating jobs by rebuilding infrastructure. Providing free tuition at public universities. Breaking up the big banks. Guaranteeing workers paid medical and family leave. The policies no longer seem far-fetched. I love Bernie because even at the age of 83, his indignation hasn’t faded. Nor has his energy. I love Bernie because he has more guts than any politician I know. Hell, he has more guts than just about anyone I know. Bernie — thank you for continuing to fight for a better world. I'll be right there alongside you, friend.

Yeah...my 20yr old nephew, who was on his way to becoming an astrophysicist, had received a grant to attend a prestigious University to further his career. But was denied because federal funding was yanked. The University did something wrong in the blank eyes of the minions steering the wheel for the would be King of America (all of it). We are seeing funds yanked to anyone that is not on the "bow and kiss the ring" lineup.
May be...just maybe...It is because my nephew did NOT vote Republican....

On Wednesday, Citibank revealed in a court filing that it was told to freeze Habitat for Humanity’s bank accounts, at the FBI’s request. The reason? The FBI alleges that the group is involved in “possible criminal violations,” including “conspiracy to defraud the United States.” Habitat for Humanity, you may recall, is the group that builds low-income houses in America’s communities. Jimmy Carter worked with them for decades. What did they do to earn the FBI’s ire? They received a climate grant from the Biden administration’s EPA. Other nonprofits also being targeted by the FBI for receiving climate grants include the Appalachian Community Capital Corporation, the Coalition for Green Capital, and the DC Green Bank. Yet these groups’ applications for government grants for environmental work were fully reviewed and accepted by the Biden administration’s EPA. This is not fraud. It’s targeted harassment. And it will be viewed that way by most Americans.

Metamorphic proteins can be thought of as the "shapeshifters" of human, animal and bacterial cells. Their ability to drastically switch between two different shapes enables them to adapt to changing environments and carry out diverse functions. Little is known about how metamorphic proteins transform despite their usefulness in living organisms. To help tackle this mystery, a new paper in the "Perspectives" section of the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) offers a "bold theory," said co-author John Orban, a professor in the University of Maryland's Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research (IBBR).

Bone artifacts discovered in Tanzania push back the earliest known date of bone tool technology by over a million years. In Olduvai Gorge, archaeologists have discovered a range of bone tools thought to have been made and used by an ancestral human species of hominid called Homo habilis 1.5 million years ago. Known as the Oldowan people, the culture responsible for the bone artifacts was already known for their use of stone tools dating back to 2.5 million years ago. The newly identified bone artifacts show that their tool technology was more complex, advanced, and sophisticated than we knew.

This is an interesting discovery : a chemical method of molecular modifications to glass.
Curtin University researchers have developed a new technique to make glass water-repellent, a feature that could improve safety in vehicles, reduce cleaning costs for buildings and enhance filtration systems. The research, published in Advanced Functional Materials, shows how an innovative and non-toxic process using ultrasonic sound waves can alter the surface of glass, making it either hydrophobic (water resistant) or electrically charged.
