finishing TOS and starting TNG makes me feel like those women whose husbands died in the war so they were forced to remarry out of necessity but remain haunted by guilt for moving on and still dwell on the memories of their time together except instead of a husband its kirk and spock and the memories are scotty being accused of murdering a belly dancer and spock getting his alpha rut heat

it’s interesting how spock, despite how often he claims to detest his human side and seek out his vulcan one, will always choose the human over the vulcan. spock is closer to amanda then sarek, spock chose starfleet instead of the VSA. Spock chose jim over t’pring. so yeah if i was bones i’d strangle him too. what a conflicted dude. stop seeking out humanity if you detest emotion so much you loser

I like how new trek is desperately trying to dispel the fan assumption that shaking hands is kissing for Vulcans by having Vulcans shake hands aggressively with every human they meet for the first time. and instead everyone’s just like oh so Vulcans are sluts? Vulcans are huge sluts for humans all the time? Vulcans give it up on first contact?

thinking about. about how a lot of academy mckirk fics have jim wearing bones down into being his friend (and how i adore that every single time, yes, get that grouch to being more social!), but also how i’m rewatching the movies and wondering if maybe. maybe. bones was the one to wear jim down into being his friend, bc. bc you look at jim, who freaks the fuck out when someone says “i love you” and jim, who puts on a careful face when he realizes that bones has to leave for vulcan, and jim, who tells bones that he doesn’t really want to celebrate his birthday … and then you’ve got bones, who refuses to leave jim looking all “sad and pathetic”, and you’ve got bones, who refuses to leave spock even when spock says that it’d be better if he goes off on his own, and you’ve got bones, who throws jim a birthday party and doesn’t smile until he sees jim smiling, , , something something about bones being the one who’s very much so a healer/a doctor who can’t stand to see people hurting in any form, something about how i personally wonder if it was bones to (grouchily, grumpily) kick jim and be like “hey. hey you. hey. i’m studying in the library. come join me. dumbass”

what are your really strong headcanons? 👀

Oh my gosh I have soo many, some which are shippy and some that are not.

A shipping hc I have is that in TOS spones, Spock would still call him Doctor McCoy/ McCoy like 95% of the time. This is not something McCoy cares about.

Non-shipping is that both of McCoy's parents were Doctors but his father was a medical Doctor and his mother has a doctorate in history and thats why McCoy collects antique medical tools, as it was a way for him to connect to both his parents.

I also hc that McCoy has an older sister, or at least he's the youngest.

Joanna McCoy doesn't want to be a Doctor and doesn't even want to go into anything academic (some sort of artist, but this changes all the time) and this is something she worries will disappoint her Father and her Mother.

AOS McCoy had some sort of accident or incident in his childhood that TOS McCoy didn't and thats why hes scared of shuttles/dying in something that flies. Because TOS McCoy was never afraid of shuttles.

TOS McCoy didn't stop being a Space Doctor during the gap between the end of the show and TMP, he would have stayed on as CMO for another 5 yr mission with Kirk as Captain. No way did McCoy just leave Starfleet and move to a farm to do nothing for years. (this is actually supported by beta canon and theres a whole comic about McCoy's time away from Starfleet)

Last one is that out of the main three McCoy would be the most likely to be actual friends with crew members.
