It was the part in chapter 18 at the park when Roy plays for the first time since retirement and he expects it to be like the final nail in his coffin seeing how much worse he is and how fucked up his knee still is and having random people at the park witness him in his knee brace humiliating himself. But instead, sure he’s not what he used to be, but he’s still noticeably better than all the players that were never professional and the only one that stands a chance against Jamie (and sure it takes an obsession level with him that helps him anticipate Jamie’s every move and a lot of cheating, but he’s not monumentally mortifyingly losing to him). And he realizes he’s not completely fucking broken and incapable of playing at all ever again and has more fun playing there than he did anywhere near the end of his career when he was constantly filled with dread at every pain and every way he didn’t live up to his old self

My elbow is starting to get a bit better so now I can somewhat type in short spurts which means time to reread my favourite part of BLT to help work on the related scene in the next chapter 👀

that really sucks, wishing you well. i had an elbow injury a while back and it surprised me that a (dominant in my case) arm being taken out of commission disqualified basically every activity that wasn't scrolling or watching tv, and not being able to do basically anything was unexpectedly rough.

i hope you'll find some ways to occupy your time and it goes relatively well for you <3

Thanks! Yeah I was honestly so shocked by just how many really basic tasks I can’t do now even with it being my non-dominant arm out of condition. And I can’t use the hand or fingers at all either, even without any weight bearing. So now I have all this time off work and all of these things I’d like to be doing but none of them are an option 😔

I was going to finally update something this weekend, but then I broke my elbow a couple of days ago so now who knows when I’m going to be able to type enough to finish something again 😔
