PERSONALITY: ( MENTION OF DEPRESSION )

[ + N U R T U R I N G ] – something she learned from her mother at quite an early age. she watched as her mother tried her best to take care of her father and even attempted to take care of her paternal grandmother. she heard her soft / soothing voice when talking to them, especially her father. brielle learned that no matter how hard someone may seem on the outside, they were likely to respond to a bit of nurturing. plus, what was wrong with making people feel comfortable?

[ + A T T E N T I V E ] – especially when it comes to emotions. growing up with a grandmother who was clinically depressed and a father who had trouble expressing his emotions, she had to pick up on cues. she had to learn when it was a good time to ask her dad for something, and when it was not. she had to learn when her mother was lying about when her day went, because even though jubilee promised to always be honest, she didn’t want brielle to worry. being able to sense how someone is feeling even when they aren’t expressing it is a blessing according to brielle.

[ - G U L L I B L E ] – she is easier to fool than a child. she will believe things as soon as you say them, simply because she doesn’t take the time to think about things. she often forgets people do play jokes / pull pranks on others, and that makes her the easiest target. her father has always tried to get her away from this trait, but it sticks around.

[ - I M P A T I E N T ] – brielle is a bit spoiled by both her parents. not exactly always getting her what she wanted, but always getting things to her pretty quickly. if she wanted something and they could get it, she would receive it in the following days. they were always quick to take her places if she wanted. they were always really quick with giving her things. learning life wasn’t always like that was difficult, and she still whines about it to this day.

SPECIAL TALENTS:

D R A W I N G / P A I N T I N G : it came out of nowhere. it came from childhood doodles and imaginary friends, but somehow, brielle was incredible with a pencil and a sketchbook. although neither of them were all that artistic ( at least in that sense ), both griffin and jubilee encouraged it. to encourage her even further, jubilee had her make cover art for her songs, even if she did nothing with them. brielle loved the practice and was okay with whatever her mother wanted to do with her art.

WHO THEY LIKE BETTER:

uhhhh probably jubilee. while griffin is involved, jubilee is probably more involved than a parent should be. similar to her own mother, but she always tries her best not to smother like joy did. while it’s easier to confess things to griffin, he isn’t really one to help talk out problems with her– something jubilee wouldn’t hesitate to offer. brielle just feels closer and more connected with jubilee.

WHO THEY TAKE AFTER MORE:

easily jubilee. she is a bright young girl with lots of promise and determination, much like her mother and even grandmother. she does get into bad moods, but she’s learned to channel that energy into something more productive ( like her artwork ). she is always there to send you a cheesy inspirational quote if you need one, and is always trying to lift the spirits of those around her.

PERSONAL HEADCANON:

if you had asked anyone if they believed brielle was more like her mother or her father, anyone would be quick to tell you they believed she was an exact replica of jubilee. her same bright eyes and warm smile, her ability to cheer you up when you’re down-- all of it. no one ever said she was anything like griffin. in fact, people had a hard time believing her and griffin shared any genes at all. that was just how griffin wanted it. he’d grown a bit since he first began dating jubilee, so he was a bit more in-touch with his emotions, but he could still be the same grumpy guy he’d always been. and he didn’t want that for his child. her being exactly like jubilee was a blessing.

but jubilee didn’t feel like that, nor did brielle. when she was just a toddler, she followed her dad around and copied his every move. every grunt, every sigh, every eye roll. jubilee couldn’t help but laugh as every sound he made seemed to be echoed. what was even funnier was griffin trying to get her to stop. he was in denial of his habits, and believed that brielle was over-exaggerating ( something he believed jubilee did quite often ). even if he found it slightly irritating to be picked on by his wife and daughter, he found it quite amusing. watching brielle try her best to put on a fake frown while giggling through it, her dropping blue paper everywhere to imitate his storm manipulation, even drawing his tattoos on herself with washable marker. in fact, he was smiling so much, she was convinced he was broken. she’d say things like “daddy, why are you smiling so much?” “mommy i think daddy wants to be just like you too.” 

he knew he wasn’t the greatest guy, and it had been his biggest fear ever since jubilee revealed she was pregnant. was he good enough to be a dad? would his child feel disconnected because of his emotional instability? he had feared for years after she was born, but in just a few days, his daughter helped push those thoughts out the window. despite his struggles, she still loved him for him. she still saw him as her superhero, even if he felt the exact opposite.

“well that’s okay!! i guess as long as you’re feeling something, that’s good right?” jubilee wasn’t sure how she found herself at an art fair, or how she found herself next to this stranger, but it was a thing that seemed to be happening. “i’ve always heard art is supposed to make you feel stuff but... yeah i’m not really too sure what i’m getting from this one. if i’m being honest, i don’t think i could tell you what we’re looking at.”

maybe she had been close. maybe not. either way, rhea appreciated that jubilee was at least willing to pretend along with her that she’d been any closer to opening that can as she’d been three minutes before when she started. “thank you so much!” happily sliding her now open can back a little closer to her, she didn’t take a drink just yet- instead using her good hand to gesture to the pack of now five cans she’d left to the side. how the girl with one injured hand and a another useless one had thought buying a six pack of coca-cola cans was a good idea, we’ll never know. i blame my need to have something extra to add in here. “help yourself to one too, if you’d like- it’s the least i can offer since you’re saving me from death by dehydration.”

jubilee’s eyes landed on the five remaining cans, thinking she was going to have to open the rest of them as well. of course, opening cans was nothing-- she was just confused. but when the other offered her one, she graciously accepted. she didn’t drink much soda at home, and it was mainly seen as a treat to her. “don’t mind if i do!” she reached for one herself, not wanting to put the other girl through the process of all that. “i mean, i always try to give back when i can,” she joked with a humble shrug. “maybe go for bottles next time?”

the past couple of weeks had been completely ridiculous. it was like griffin himself had asked out loud what could go wrong or it could be worst and the universe decided to deliver. there weren’t any casualties so he figured it hadn’t reached the worst stage. maybe except the fact he had to room with two people instead of one now. griffin was about to go in his new room, when he heard the voice he’d be able to recognize anywhere, making quickly turn around. “you did?” he frowned lightly, things had been so weird between them griffin didn’t know where they stood. “don’t get me wrong i–” i’ve been thinking about you “it doesn’t matter, jubilee. you have to take care of yourself first. how are you holding up?”

“of course. joy wouldn’t have it otherwise,” she teased with a light smile. her mother liked griffin, probably because she wasn’t aware of all the things they did together. the sleepovers on school nights, the occasional drinking, the sex -- she didn’t even know they were together. jubilee was always too scared to tell her. but she knew how hard things had been at the shepherd house and always welcomed him in when jubilee asked if he could stay for dinner. she continued to try her best to cheer him up, even if the two of them knew it would never work. “i’m fine.” it wasn’t a total lie. at the current moment, she was trying to push her mother away and convince her she had plenty of friends and was working on some more, happier music. but she was alive, so there was that. “how are you?”

with all that had been going on at the school lately, jubilee was a MESS to say the least. her mother could have never prepared her for what she went through. she kept her fake smile on her face as she feared for her life and worried like no other. it was times like this that made jubilee believe she was truly a member of the park family. there were so many people crowded everywhere that finding the one person she truly cared about was practically impossible. she hadn’t heard of any tragedies, but she still never got to see him. that was until now, in the hallway of their new dorm building. he hadn’t noticed her yet, and she was debating whether or not she wanted to speak up. but her emotions got the best of her. “i looked all over for you,” she started, taking a brief pause. “i’m sorry i couldn’t find you.”

“ugh-” after three whole minutes of trying to open her can of coca-cola, rhea had finally had ENOUGH. not being able to bend her thumb made it impossible to grip the can and pop the tab with her dominant hand, and her left? was tragically useless. all she wanted was a DRINK, goddammit, and now that desperation was beginning to set in, rhea had absolutely no shame in turning to the nearest person and asking, finally- “could you please give me a hand with this? i hate to ask, but- i can’t do it.”

jubilee watched the other, slightly amused. usually by now, she would have offered her help up, but she wanted to see if the other could do it. when she couldn’t and turned to jubilee, she was more than happy to help. “no problem, girl!! for a moment, i thought you had it there.” she pulled the can towards her, opening it with ease. “there ya go.”

wesley didn’t want to go on a date with anyone but michele, but his desire to support bailey in her second valentine’s day event won out. he could put up with going on a “date” with a stranger for a few hours. at the very least, he might have a decent story to tell her when he got home after the evening was finished. and so he waited, with a nametag that read “grumplestiltskin” pinned on his chest. he remembered bailey once called him that, and it was the only codename he could think of when filling out the form. at least he got to meet his “date” somewhere nice. the emporium was a fantastic library and bookstore, and he did always enjoy his time there. unfortunately, it was also huge. there was no telling where his partner for the evening was waiting to meet him, or if they were even there at all. 

all her life, jubilee had been taught that helping people was one of the most important things you could do. that and making them happy. so jubilee was eager to do both when she filled out the oh my dollar valentine form. upon getting her date assignment, she pinned her nametag to her outfit with an eagerness. an eagerness to have fun and just forget the stress she’d gone through the past few weeks. as she skipped into the emporium, she wondered who grumplestiltskin could be. if she hadn’t filled out griffin’s for him, she would’ve thought it was him for sure. but the mystery was half the fun. the people inside all looked like strangers. not a single familiar face. was one of them her date ?? surely her date would have SOME familiarity, right ?? wdu didn’t seem that large. before she could dwell on the thought too long, she spotted her old roommate and saw he had a name tag. he seemed like a grumpy guy, so perhaps it was him. “hey old roomie !! i don’t suppose you’re grumplestilskin, are ya ?”

“passionate from miles away. passive with the things you say-” harmony looked up, just in time to spot blue hair. she knew that hair. immediately, she stopped playing, but for once, it wasn’t because she was interrupted. it was because she actually wanted to talk to her. “HEY!” harmony called out, maybe a bit too loudly. she almost knocked over her keyboard as she stood up, in the empty music room. “blue hair!” she felt bad calling the girl out like that, but of all the times they’d spoken, harmony didn’t remember ever getting her name. but she did remember their  last conversation. about tattoos and piercings. harmony had never really given the girl a proper thank you. she’d shown more of life to harmony in five minutes, then most people had in years.

it wasn’t everyday that someone called out to jubilee. she heard shouts very often, just never for her. but as soon as the voice referenced her hair, she knew it was for her. she stopped in her tracks, turning back around towards the music room. a room she had spent too much time in. but it had been awhile. she looked around, a small smile on her face as she remembered the music she made in that very room. jubilee looked over to the owner of the voice, remembering her quite well. “that’s me ! what can i do for ya ??”

"i mean, obviously it’s a bit rocky. who doesn’t have a rocky relationship with their ex ?? the way we left things wasn’t great, and i don’t think we’ve really quite resolved it yet. so i’ll just leave it at that– rocky.”

"trust and honesty. i feel like those are very important to any relationship you have– romantic or platonic. they really are the foundations of friendships.”

"i personally would only date my friends. it’s weird to me to start seeing someone you don’t really know, you know ?? i understand half the fun is finding out new stuff about the other person, i just think that it’d be better if they already knew you pretty well, y’know ?? then out of nowhere they surprise you with a home cooked meal and you didn’t even know they knew their way around the kitchen !!”

“i don’t think i have one, if i’m being honest. i think sometimes you just know, y’know ? like, when you’re out on the perfect date ? i think it kinda just hits you and it makes the night even better. so i guess my dream date would be one where i had that realization.”

“i’m not ashamed of it, if that’s what you’re thinking.” maeve said sternly, her eyes narrowing as she wondered if the girl would keep pushing at her. “oh, sweetie, i’m capable, that’s for sure. i’m capable of things you can’t even imagine.” she knew her words were threatening and perhaps too dark for such a conversation, she just didn’t care. she loved to show how scary she truly was whenever she got the chance to. “but, if you ever find out about my greatest skill, i’ll have to kill you.” her words were serious, but she gave a light laugh at the end of her sentence, passing it off as a joke- sort of. 

“i wasn’t ?” the thought of being ashamed of something hadn’t even crossed her mind. “i just understand that sometimes it’s easier and more beneficial to keep things a secret.” jubilee nodded as the other spoke of her own capabilities. “i’m sure you are !! and i think that’s absolutely incredible !” jubilee was always excited to learn what others were good at. what made them them. “then maybe we can start out with just some regular skills ?”

Mary sat, staring blankly at the same student essay she’d been trying to grade for the last twenty minutes. She couldn’t seem to focus on the words on the paper, her eyes eventually drifting toward the door. She could just take them home and work on them there. After checking her watch and realizing it was already 4:30, that’s what she’d decided to do. She had just packed everything into her satchel and turned off the classroom’s lights when she saw a figure stop outside of the door. “Oh! I’m sorry, I didn’t even see you.” She flicked the lights back on, walking toward the doorway with a smile. “Did you need something, hon?”

it wasn’t like jubilee to get lost. she knew this campus like the back of her hand, but after being on a break, she just couldn’t remember her way around. it didn’t help that she was extra down at the current moment. she stopped outside a classroom to read the number next to the door, then jumped slightly as the other popped out. “no, no, totally my bad !!” she was going to carry on, but then decided that perhaps the other could help her out. “do you happen to know where this room is ??” jubilee held her phone up so the other could see and pointed to the number on the screen.

“can you keep a secret? because i don’t know you. i have no reason or motivation to tell you anything about me.” maeve knew she was being cruel, she always knew when she was being one of the worst possible versions of herself. “i am skillful in many ways no one will ever know. at least, not until i want them to.” she smirked, she was a girl full of secrets. there was nothing she would share with anyone. she didn’t have friends, and didn’t want them either. 

“i’m not too sure why what you like should be so secret ?” jubilee always grew up being told to share what she enjoyed, because perhaps someone else would enjoy the same thing. of course, joy had a way of ruining the one recent thing to keep her happy, so perhaps she could understand. “and i’m sure you do !! you look very capable of a lot. and as soon as you’re willing to share, i’m willing to listen !”

griffin !

maybe he wasn’t supposed to be feeling disappointed that jubilee was asking him that, but he couldn’t help but be feeling it. loving her was one of the only things he knew was real, and his one source of true happiness– even if it didn’t completly overpower his overall misery. “i did. i never lied to you on how much i loved you.”   but he would lie on how he still did. 

the words out of his mouth were a huge relief. of course, he could have just been lying again, but deep down, part of her knew she wasn’t. and she was glad he wasn’t. her time and pain wasn’t wasted on someone who felt absolutely nothing for her. “sorry i wasn’t worth fighting for.” and with that, jubilee picked up her suitcase once again, wheeling it behind her as she finally entered her room, closing the door behind her.
