Each piece in this zine is centered around the members of The Dirty Dawg: Yamada Ichiro, Aohitsugi Samatoki, Amemura Ramuda and Jinguji Jakurai. The zine is filled with 40+ pages of art from 30 wonderful artists!

Arise 2.0: Winter Edition!

We’re reposting this because tumblr hates us and FLAGGED our initial post. Anyway, it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for, we’re super excited to announce our shiny new zine!  We’ve gone through many, many asks requesting for new issues of Arise and your prayers have been answered and it’s finally here - Arise: a BNHA Fashion Fanzine Winter Edition!

We hope you’re all excited because this zine is going to be even better than ever! For those that are new, Arise was a zine we started along with over 60 wonderful contributors back in 2017 and is created to emulate a real, teen fashion magazine (think Teen Vogue) and now we’re back for a Winter edition.

Applications will be opening on March 18th 00:00 PST. We’ll only be opening them for two weeks so make sure to mark those calendars so you don’t miss out! Graphic Designers will once again have a page layout test. For more information, check out our information site created specifically for mobile friendly viewing!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

It may not be a holiday for everyone, but we’d still like to take a moment to thank everyone for all the amazing work they do: from volunteering in the community, to donating to charity, to even just smiling at a stranger, hoping to brighten someone’s day—it’s acts of kindness like these that brighten the world and make each day better.

To everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving, we hope you have a joyful and delicious feast today! And to everyone, thank you for being a hero ♡

About contributor copies and zines...

It’s disheartening to see that some people don’t believe that content creators should at least be compensated for their work in a zine through free physical copies of it. Especially when it is a charity zine.

Receiving a free copy of the publication they participated in should be a standard courtesy for a creative’s time and effort spent on the project. Their time should have monetary value because it is a specialized skill! Content creators are constantly undervalued everywhere.

When people say that it’s unfair that artists, writers, etc. get a whole free zine when they only contributed a few pages, it’s hurtful. Their work is not worth the few cents spent to print those pages. Receiving a zine that’s worth $15-$25 retail + shipping is peanuts.

A standard commission price for most works you see in zines are worth so much more than what people have paid. When people argue that creators post work for free online anyway and paying for the zine is useless, it’s obvious they dismiss the value of creatives.

Creators choose to post their online for free to share it. They don’t have to do that for you. People need to be more grateful for the people willing sharing their work online for free. It’s not your right to consume their work, it’s a privilege they’ve given to you.

If you plan to sell a collaborative zine without taking in consideration paying the bare minimum of a physical copy to the participants, pls go back to the drawing board and be more considerate to content creators.

Unless participants are willingly choosing to forfeit their compensation and give free work to charity, you should assume in your budget that they will receive some kind of compensation for their time. People need to stop undervaluing creators! Remember all art is a luxury.

Happy National Adoption Day! Here at The Year of Heroes, we celebrate acts of good. Our contributors did a fantastic job showcasing our favorite kids being heroes through community service, from hospital visits to shelter animals and more! Mod Aizawa, Mod Toshinori, and Mod Fat Gum could not be more proud of our contributors’ works and their young heroes. We may not be able to adopt fictional kids, but join us in adopting acts of goodness today! 

Just because we don’t have superpowers doesn’t mean we can’t embody the spirit of BnHA and all our favorite heroes. Adopt a calendar and support the Carter Center in their mission to help settle conflicts across the world!

It’s been a little hectic recently what with us making posts left and right and running around rounding up the last part of the creative process, but we’ve still managed to make it here in one piece and we’d like to thank you all for sticking around and being patient for so long. The wait is finally over!

Hey guys! So.

As some of y'all know, my dog had 10 puppies and now I’m attempting to rehome them. The area I live in is notorious for not taking their dogs to the vet, so I wanted to give them their first round of shots. On top of that there was always the fact I needed to get their mother spayed.

And today I discovered that one of the puppies has Pyoderma, and is gonna need weeks of antibiotics.

For those of you don’t really have pets, vet bills are expensive, and vet bills for 10x puppies is really fucking expensive. I was already struggling to be able to foot the bill for the shots, and with this extra cost I simply cannot afford it, and all of my attempts to raise money (including getting a job) have fallen through and most of the money I saved has been loaned out to help my mother and sister.

So I opened a Ko-fi.

I hate asking for money and having nothing to show for it, but I simply just need help. None of this money will go directly to me - anything that isn’t used for her expenses will go towards paying for food and treats for the mother, the three puppies that will be staying with us, and the other dog who lived with then.

If you can spare any help, I would appreciate a whole hell of a lot. If you can’t help, but can reblog, I would appreciate that too.

I’m so sorry and thank you for any help.

Are you ready to show your colors?

IRIDESCENT is a limited color palette My Hero Academia fanzine designed to take you on a journey through the rainbow one page at a time. Each color of the rainbow has a corresponding story and small collection of artwork. We hope that with each page your life is a little more colorful and a little more iridescent.

The book will be a 100+ page, perfect bound softcover zine at 8.5 x 8.5 inches. There will be stretch goals and giveaways during the preorder period for opportunities to win extra perks. This is a charity zine donating to the ACLU.

Welcome to The Year of Heroes Charity Calendar!

With contributor applications coming up, we’re excited to get this project rolling! But first it’s time to introduce our full mod team!

A most talented and witty lady, Mod Aizawa is the one that started it all! When she’s not sneaking naps in the pauses of her busy schedule, she will be heading the calendar’s finances and group organization.

~Mod Toshinori || @thecookiemonster77 

Always eager to encourage others, Mod Toshinori is excited to bring this project to life! They are in charge of blog design and will be handling shipping and distribution after pre-orders finish.

~Mod Fat Gum || @jammy-draws 

A wizard with graphic design and sweet tooth to match, The Year of Heroes Calendar is thrilled to bring Mod Fat Gum on board! She is in charge of graphics, like our beautiful blog header and mod graphics, and will also be contributing art to this project.
