Barcelona!!! Started my day at Monjuic where there was a Moto show stunt too bad my sis isn't here she would have love it more than me 🤷🏻‍♀️.... anyway, Montjuic is literally a wooden park on top of a hill overlooking Barcelona, it gained notoriety as host of the 1929 World Fair and the 1992 Olympic Games ....Next on my agenda was 'Poble Espanyol' or Spanish village, built in 1929 for te international exhibition, this is a one of a kind outdoor architectural museum with over 100 buildings and squares that are replicas of various regions of Spain #socool you can literally get to see ALL of Spain in one hour 🤔last I headed to the beach to follow my tradition of putting my feet in every Sea/Ocean I visit so I can now add the Mediterranean Sea to my list👣... The beaches of Barcelona weren't always as attractive as they are now, they used to be be inaccessible under a highway but it was demolished and for the 1992 Olympic Games and now have a great beach malecón with restaurants bars and sandy beaches 🤗... ok gotta run to start my birth month celebration at midnight - Spanish style-💃🏻 🎉 and head to Canary island in the AM 🌴 ☀️ for sun and surf!! (at Barcelona, Spain)

Gaudí and the 'Quart🙅🏻 Started my day at the heart of Barcelona 'Plaça Catalunya' that separates old Barcelona(Gothic quarters) with new Barcelona. Founded in 1500bc by Romans Catalunya history is actually pretty tragic as they always live in oppression until 14th century or the golden age when they started trading and ruled Sicily, Mallorca and even Athens for 7 yrs.... the golden Age ended when Christopher Columbus "discover" America and their traiding wasn't useful anymore. Passed by oldest synagogue in Europe dating back to the 4th century and was just found in 1980 #impressive - the Jewish community left Barcelona after the prosecution on 1934 after they were being blamed for the plague as they weren't dying in big groups as everyone, but that was bc they were living inside of the quarters and and away from the plague, also bc of their religious belief they bathe more often (hygiene wasn't a big thing back in 14th century)... Next on my agenda was a quick Gaudí tour, starting at Plaça Reial where you can find Gaudi's very first commissioned work(2 lamp-posts in the center of the square that represent trees)-Made my way up to 'manzana de la discordia' to see 'Casa Batllo' one of Gaudí’s architectural masterpieces and an iconic landmark characterized by its eye catching design and colour👌🏻one of my favorites it's supposed to tell the legend of St George and the Dragon 🐉 as the facade looks like bones and skeletons with scales.... my next stop and most important sight in Barcelona 'La sagrada familia' Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece has been under construction for a century and a half-construction officially started on 1882 by a different architect who quit a year in and Gaudí took over on 1883 and it's finally supposed to be finished by 2026 to commemorate a centenary of Gaudi's death (we shall see) My last stop on Gaudi's experience was Parc Güell, mostly known by the colorful tile walls on top of the mountain overlooking Barcelona, This park was Eusebio Güell and Gaudí's idea to build a rich neighborhood inside of Gaudí's wall, but their plan was a huge failure as nobody moved but them and another friend of them. What a blast strolling down Barcelona🚶 (at Barcelona, Spain)

A walk in the park🚶🏻‍♀️ Couldn't find my tour bus stop so decided to walk around and and get lost in Madrid... bumped into Debod temple park, which was dug out of Egypt and given to Spain as thank you for financing the excavations - I felt as if I was back in Egypt Except they weren't asking to buy me with camels here 😅 another stop I couldn't miss was the Museum of Ham where I had lunch, this not a museum at all is more of a canteen where you can order from the bar and so I did - thinking they were tapas I ordered 3 different plates the bartender asked me I front of everyone if I was Shari g with anyone as it was too much food and they do t have to go containers... well this quickly became a challenge and I responded "don't worry about me I will finish everything, add a couple beers to that" 🤗🍻 well to my surprise. These were NOT tapas but oversized portions 🙈 and tries my best but couldn't finish it aaagh #dissapointed #fatkid After my delish lunch I strolled down Alcalá street one of the oldest ones in Madrid, ending at 'Puerta de Alcalá' located in the independence plaza this is one of the five gates that used to give access to the once walled city of Madrid and built in 1599 as a welcoming gesture to Margaret of Austria wife of king Phillip III ... ended my romantic stroll at 'parque de Retiro' which means park of the pleasant retreat 💆🏻 beautiful with a huge pong in the middle with gondolas and a palace of crystal... aaah can't believe so walked for 7 hours - time to go pack and head to 🚗Barcelona in the AM!!!! (at Madrid, Spain)

A la Madrid 🇪🇸!!! Started my day on a Segway ☺️🛴 Thanks #segwaymadrid for the comp tour... this is definitely a great way to see Madrid on a fast pace, We rode along the river and through some of Madrid's main sights such as: stadium Atlántico de Madrid, the Palace and Royal gardens. Madrid was built over water and had walls surrounding the city to segment: the poor outside of the wall, medium class inside by the wall and the Royals were located right by the Muslim center which is now the Cathedral of the Almudena where only the Royals can have their weddings, no body else no matter how much money you're willing to spend. Next to it, is the Royal Palace of Madrid which is actually the largest Palace in Western Europe with 3419 rooms, I toured the inside but didn't get to see even half of all the rooms... it is beautiful though, probably one one of the most thought out palaces, each room is completely different, with different colors, tapestry and decorations; all the floors are marble and ceilings are painted with different angels. After my Segway tour decided to do a walking tour through 'Madrid de los Austrias' because as I said before this is the best way to explore a new city and get lost. Starting at 'km 0' a mile marker where all Spain roads stem from; Madrileños say it's lucky to start any journey from there 🤗🍀so "here I go" headed up to 'La plaza mayor' dated Bach to the 1600's and was used to view bullfights and public executions - the entire plaza was burnt down in 1700's and only one building survived, they rebuilt the plaza again and painted every wall red leaving the original on a different color to remember the day. I really like how there are still so many building over 500+ years, like their first: barbershop 1900, first pharmacy 1578, oldest restaurant 1972... wow so much history .... and of course, No trip to Spain is complete without indulging in Madrid's best chocolate con churros from 'chocolatería San Gines' they were #delish but I'm Mexican I Do believe we do have the best churros 🙈 sorry Spain.... Ah and did I mention I bumped into the oldest restaurant in the world and I made reservations to go eat the same night #yay so excited!! (at Madrid, Spain)

It's always sunny in Lisbon☀️NOT! Go to Portugal they said, it's always sunny they said 😒 lol not for me.... but a little rain wasn't going to stop me from exploring #Lisbon thank you #YellowBus for the comp tickets, definitely one of the best ways to see the city specially when it's raining cats and dogs 😅☔️. The tram through the hills of Lisbon is a must! Started at the 'Praca do comercio' and made my way to all the different neighborhoods like 'Chiado' where all the nobles used to live, 'Almafa' which has the most Islamic/Moorish influence still, you can appreciate all the colorful buildings with the glazed tile exteriors very traditional of #Portugal. This city is semi new since everything had to be re-built after the biggest earthquake in mid 1700's and abnormal high tides after that... One of the biggest attractions in Lisbon is the 'Santa Justa Lift' so I had to get on it and see what all the fuss is all about 🚠well this is the tallest structure here in Lisbon at 148ft and has the best views of the entire city, River and the castle of Säo Jorge, it is pretty much a beautifully crafted elevator resembling the Eiffel Tower design in Paris - what makes it so special is that it connects downtown with barrio alto (the lowest and highest points in the city) 🌃 #socool . Couldn't leave Lisbon without visiting the #RedLightDistrict also known as the 'pink street' located near the old port where sailors, thieves and of course prostitutes had their fun back then. I don't know what kind of fun though, it looked surprisingly quiet each time I walked through there 🤔 #hmm ... well is time to say bye to Lisbon and the rain ... off to my next destination and 33rd country in my books 🚗 Spain here I come 🇪🇸 #roadtrip to #Madrid (at Lisbon, Portugal)

To the end of the world 🌎 Adventure tour starting at 'Quinta da Regaleira' located on the mountains of Sintra, overlooked by the moorish castle which we never made it to since we got lost on our little hike #lol - anyway, we stayed to explore the palace that once belonged to reí Dom Carlos in the early 1800's before architect Luigigi Manini was hired to re design everything. Taking the liberty to add some personalized charm including illuminati signs around the place like at the entrance of the garden chapel 😵 #socool . This palace has got to be the most fun I have explored; with grottos, lake labyrinths and Wells hidden all over the gardens... def a #bucketlist . After playing hide n seek in the labyrinths we Continued our adventure to the beach and to 'Cabo da Roca' which is the most western point in Europe or as I like to call it 'the end of the world' haha 😂 the views from there were amazing, just to stare at the horizon and know there's nothing in miles distance #loveit . However, this wasn't my fave part of the tour.... 'Boca do Inferno' or 'Hell's mouth' located in the city of Cascais (where the soccer players live #FYI) had the most breathtaking views, this cliff was formed by erosion forming a cave whose roof soon collapsed forming the unique 'boca do inferno' where you can see the waves smashing the cliff, some brave ones even swim in it when the tide is high 😱 #crazy .... what a day, had a great time with the #LostInn team (at Sintra, Portugal)

Girl's gotta eat 🍽 and don't mind if I do.... if you've heard of Portugal, you for sure have heard of the famous "Pastèis de Nata" and my hunt for the best was nothing but delicious 😋 tried a couple local bakeries before getting to @pasteisbelem which has the original recipe dating back to 1837, and I have to say they truly are #delish - the trick is to eat it while still warm and not under the rain 🙄... you thought a little thunderstorm was going to stop me from enjoying my first day in Lisbon- like a local Portuguese I grabbed my raincoat a couple glasses of sangria 🍷 and embraced the rain --- after all I had to eat something other than pastries and wine (not that I was complaining) but these aren't the only two things Portugal is known for. I had to try their traditional dish "Bacalhau com batatas" and let me tell you... It would have been a lot better if someone had warned me it comes with all the bones before I shoved a spoonful in my mouth 😵🐟 #lol • follow my adventures on Snapchat (jannetteay) (at Pastéis de Belém)

BDay trip Day4... Castle hunting! Today I went to the most amazing castle I have been too thus far "Castelul Peleş" with so much detail in each room from the walls to the cealings and all its Romanesque art. this castle has 160 rooms with gold cealings in most of them aah simply astonishing... the walk up there was pretty cool too all cobble stones with lamps from the 1800's and little castles and villages through out the way up there. Who would've thought Romania had this much to offer... definetely one of my fave places now 😊👌💘 time to go pack and get ready for my flight back to reality ✈ chicago! #InLove #Brasov #Romania #castle #peles #traveller #globetrotter #grammasters3 (at Peles Castle - Sinaia, Transylvania)
