So another thing that’s been percolating in the back of my mind was this interview I saw with Ha-joon (who plays Jun-ho) where he explains that the director wanted Jun-ho—who was devastated after watching people get murdered by the Captain who saved him years ago, and finally gets to confront his brother—not to react, stay cool and collected.

And I realized that, after thinking about it, none of the characters ever fully grieve their own deaths, or the deaths of others. And on the one hand, I get it. HDH was probably going for grounded performances, not too focused on “melodrama”. However.

They should have been allowed to cry.

Not just a few single sad tears, not just a bit of whelming of the eyes. Full on waterworks, like their heart had been ripped from their chest.

Because I fully believe. Fully, that it had been like that, In-ho would have cried for Gi-hun. There would have been straight up tears in this moment.

And I really wanted there to be someone to visibly mourn him. I wanted there to be that moment where someone acknowledged that Gi-hun was a soft, beautiful, kind soul and the world was less bright without him. None of the characters — Woo-seok, Jun-ho, etc — showed that either. I know In-ho would have because he understood. He literally was the only one who didn’t move on.

can't joke about it to cope anymore, that Hwang bros "confrontation" hurts because just look at Junho, he went through so much all these years, he almost died, was SA'd, ridiculed by everyone but he was still willing to give Inho a chance only for Inho to just turn away.

I am actually crying about this today. The abandonment Junho must feel after trying to do everything in his power for Inho and getting nothing in return.

He didn't want some sort of revenge, he just wanted an explanation. He tried to give everything he could to Inho, just to bring him back despite of everything Inho has done, but it was never fucking enough. This is painful.

Ok so hear me out, Jun Hee, Gihun and Inho all get off the island together. After a month or so Gihun is called by Jun Hee because she's having trouble being a single mum (especially after going through the most traumatising week of her life) and needs extra support. He gets there and finds that she also called Inho there to help too. Cue them divorced parent arguing while co parenting their adult daughter and looking after their shared granddaughter. And then they fall in love and kiss

I was wondering why I felt inevitably sad today and man, I lost Seong Gihun a month ago and everything since then has made a little less sense. I'm still missing Seong Gihun like a madman.

Imagine if Inho had a super nosy, super chatty older twin sister. Look at her. She probably made him cry a lot growing up.

She feels like someone who would repeatedly ask Junho why he's not married at thirty and father to three kids during every family holiday dinner.

Oh no, what if she never existed and Inho got into drag like this whenever he needed to lecture Junho and would blame it on his fake sister instead.

Gihun and Inho giving each other quick soft pecks on the lips while Gihun holds the baby in between them and she cheers, laughs, and smiles each time Inho and Gihun kiss. Then they lean in to kiss each other again only to suddenly turn their faces to give the baby kisses on her cheeks instead. Then Gayeong walks in and they both slowly turn to look at her knowing what’s about to happen she runs off but she can’t escape the kiss monsters so Gihun, Inho, and the baby chase her around the living room till they all collapse on the couch and Gayeong too receives her share of kisses 🥺
