       gonna try and tackle a few drafts here after my nap.  i swear i’m still super interested in this concept & such it’s just very thought intensive to get up and running and i’ve been kinda brainless lately!  between trying to get some things queued on my other blogs & nano it’s ehhhhhh what is time / brain.  but i’ll do a few things when i get back to the laptop hopefully.

     Yes, I am still alive, I’ve just been working on Nano and catching up in tiny increments on my other blogs.  Basic character info for these peeps can be found HERE and a random assortment of headcanons written up HERE.  I’m still piecing some things together but I’d love to get a few plots or at least rough outlines sorted so if you’d be interested in scheming w/ someone here feel free to hit the heart.  If there’s one particular aspect (Janus, Janet or Jeremiah) that appeals more let me know?

         “Honestly, I am just grateful that we were able to put Cyranno to good use outside of a laboratory setting,” Janet said as she tapped the spoon against the side of her coffee cup, pulling the spoon up to her lips to capture the last few wayward cups of the precious brew before setting it aside onto the napkin beside her plate.   There was a slight pause in movement and speech, her nose wrinkling up ever so slightly, a moment of chagrin crossing her features.  “Which -- probably sounds far more selfish than intended,” she admitted ruefully.  “Of course I’m not glad for any manner of potential biological hazard against the populace, it’s just -- there’s only so much that we can learn about the capabilities or limitations of the technology in a controlled setting,” she tried to explain, the softest hint of color creeping over sweeping cheeks.   “What I’m trying to say, Agent Poindexter, is that I’m just glad that we were able to help in any way -- and thank you.”

JANET.

Janet ‘Joy Kell’ is a play on words that Janus is / was very amused by - two plays on words in fact. Joy Kell aka Jekyll (Jekyll/Hyde) and as in joykill because as much of a necessity as his human counterpoint is it’s also a total buzz kill to need one. 

Basically, Janet thinks she’s just a normal human woman.  She has memories of a normal human life, every cycle, a mix of good and bad, normally she’s freshly arrived in whatever city, she’s a scientist in whatever specialty of the era ends up catching Janus’ attention most.

As Janus’ power increases and his control increases, the human ego may experience missing time, have memories or bleed over in abilities / sight that cause what equates to hallucinations, hearing voices or experiencing strange / supernatural occurrences, etc.  On occasion in the past this has resulted in the human ego being diagnosed as having schizophrenia or mpd / did etc. and has resulted in wrongful incarceration in mental institutions, asylums, or on rare occasion, prisons, if things went increasingly wrong.  

JEREMIAH.

Jeremiah is a philanthropist playboy with a love of fine art, fine dining and never staying in one place long. Occasionally works as an art restoration expert and historian also aka forger for his own amusement. Specializes in Ancient Greek artifacts and mythos. 

Jeremiah, who is the ‘in the know’ alter ego who is in varying degrees of strength / power / ability to control his magics and whether or not he can actually seize control etc.   He uses Janet and her ignorance and seeming humanity to hide himself, to stay off the radar from other gods, old or new, or other powers that might be trying to hunt him or take advantage of him in his weakened state. 

JANUS.

Janus’ memories of previous cycles and encounters had are dimmer and harder to recall the earlier on he is in a new cycle. This is one of many reasons he tends to ‘hide’ in the mortal mien of his hunan alter ego so that if he has made new enemies or allies he will have time to regather his thoughts and memories from previous cycles before encountering any of either ( hopefully ). The older a memory the easier it is to recall however as his power weakens as a whole / as mankind’s faith in the pantheons fades his clarity overall diminishes as does his overall power level. ( re: American Gods etc. ) Individual people’s faith / the worlds faith in him as a deity affects his power for better or worse. However one persons true faith in him as a deity or a personage of power can give him an incredible, albeit, temporary boost in times of emergencies; for this reason he has a small collection of scholars and monks etc around the world that he keeps on ‘retainer’ and returns to every few years / every decade or so in every cycle to bolster their belief.

His human ego’s belief in science rather than magic or religion does not usually affect Janus. If anything it helps mask his presence from other entities to some degree because of the banality that the firm and dogged belief in science and logic over mysticism usually exudes in his host.

MISC.

Janet and Jeremiah have different residences and live different lives. Each have legal paper trails and histories that should stand up to most mundane checks. 

Much like Dawn being woven into peoples memories upon creation Janet and Janus are interposed into memories where necessary - school friends, old coworkers / employers etc. Highly adept magic users would be able to sense discrepancies and mortal investigations might reveal a lot of hazy facts in terms of details about either Janet or Janus but it would take a fair bit of work on anyone’s part to really tear the embedded memories and histories apart. 

Cycles may last only a few years or upwards of a few decades depending on what other entities / creatures / deities janus and his human ego encounter along the way.  creating false identities and appropriate paper trails and files in modern day systems isn’t particularly difficult for janus but it can use up an extensive amount of power to alter reality, especially at the decline of a previous cycle which is why it can take time for him to recharge.

Faces and genders vary in different cycles.  Sometimes it’s a m/f or f/m combo, sometimes it’s m/m sometimes it’s f/f.  It’s pretty random.  The two halves do usually share similarities in features but have never been identical.

JOB RELATED.

do they have a job?  if they do, what is it? what skills are required for it? do they like the job they have, the people they work with? what kind of schedule do they have? how flexible is it and how much time does it leave for social events? how much money do they make; are they salary or hourly? are they looking to improve skills or further their education to advance in their current job or to help them find a different one?  if they don’t have a job, is that by choice? do they want one? what do they want to do for a job / what kind of skills do they have that could help them find one?  what do they do for income / to take care of themselves if they don’t have a day to day job? what people / resources do they have to help them out if they need it, if they have any?

LIVING SITUATION.

where do they live? what kind of place is it, quality and size wise? is it a stable living environment or are they often in flux / living a lot of different places / crashing with friends or wherever they can find space?  if it’s their own place, how particular are they about how it looks, whether it’s clean or not, how it’s decorated / furnished?  are they likely to let people stay with them if they need a place to crash for a night (or longer)? do they live alone or do they have roommates, a significant other, a spouse, children etc? how about pets? do they have a cleaning service or anyone else that comes and goes from their place on a semi regular basis? do they like where they live? if not, why?  how much do they pay for rent / mortgage (specific numbers or rough estimate or percentage of their income)? what kind of services do they have in terms of phone, cable, internet, gardener etc. if applicable?

INCOME.

do they make enough money to cover their day to day living expenses?  what are those expenses, in general?  rent, utilities, car payments, doggie day care, child care, medical insurance, life insurance, alimony or child support, food etc.  have they, or do they go hungry on a regular basis? do they receive help from any one or any government assistance to help with any of these costs?  do they have a bank account or savings accounts and if so, how much is usually in either?  do they have automatic payments set up for bills or are they paid when they can be?  do they have to use check cashing places or pawn things to get by? what do they do to make ends meet when things are tight, however consistently that might be?  what do they consider extravagant in terms of purchases? how much do they spend any given week on extras? 

EDUCATION.

what is the maximum education they have received or are currently pursuing?  how literate would they consider themselves?  are they more book learned or street smarts?  how many languages do they speak / or can read?  what was their favorite subject in school? is it still their favorite and are there any actual real world applications for that subject in their day to day lives and or career?  do they want to go back to school to further their education and is it just because they want to or because they need further qualifications for a promotion or for their dream job?  do they get shunned or snubbed because of their lack of qualifications / education?  on the flip side, do people assume they are stuck up or snobs because of their higher degree of education?

DAILY ROUTINE.

does your character have a specific routine that they like to follow every day / any given day? is it the same routine every day or does it change based on the plans and pre-conceived notions for the day? how strictly do they follow their routine and how badly does it mess with them if they are forced to derail plans and reschedule and adapt on the fly? if it does cause stress, how obvious is it to others around them?  what does it take for them to maintain calm or regain focus if they are thrown off schedule?

WAKING UP.

does your character use an alarm clock to wake up or do they wake up on their own when they need to or do they just wake up whenever? if they use an alarm clock how likely are they to hit snooze or oversleep? do they get up with a lot of time to spare for getting dressed and ready for the day or do they sleep until the last possible second? are they the type to have laid out their clothes and books and briefcase or whatever they need for the day the night before when they were getting ready for bed or do they dash around to find everything on their way out the door?

FIRST THING.

do they shower and shave etc. when they are getting ready for the day or is that done the night before? how involved is their general hygiene and grooming habits for the day?  are they usually hungry when they first wake up or does it take them a while to notice / care about food?  how about coffee or juice or tea, what’s it take to get them up and motivated brain wise when they are waking up? do they usually make food and coffee or whatever at home or do they grab it on the way to work / whatever they have scheduled for the day? how badly does it affect their day if they have to skip any parts of their normal morning routine?

EATING HABITS.

how frequently do they eat?  what kind of food do they usually eat and is that out of preference or out of fiscal necessity or just time crunches or lack of ability to cook for themselves etc?  are there any foods or drinks that they have to or choose to avoid for health reasons be it cholesterol or diabetes or allergies?  are there any foods or drinks that they avoid for moral, ethical or religious reasons? if they had the time, resources and ability to eat anything they wanted on a regular basis, would that change their diet - how / why?  what is their go to for 2 a.m. i’m awake and have the munchies and need something to cram into my face so i can go back to sleep snack?  how about their guilty pleasure food? are they more a take out, eat at home or dine in person - by preference or necessity?

HYGIENE HABITS.

how often do they bathe? how often do they shave?  wash their hair?  are they a bath or a shower person? louffa or washcloth or just bar of soap or hand type?  what kind of supplies do they use for a bath or shower - all in one body and hair type or a different product every body part?  do they care about the price or quality of their bath products?  do they use oils and bath bombs if they take baths?  how long do they soak in the bath or stand in the shower for?  what temperature do they prefer to have their water at? do they like sharing their bath or shower time or do they prefer to be left alone? soft and fluffy giant towels or just whatever’s handy / cheapest? towel dry and leave the hair or blow dry?  how often do they brush their teeth or floss?  do they use deodorant? body spray or cologne or perfume? lotion / moisturizer?  if they use makeup do they wash it off every night or not care?
