SWOT Analysis (9/3/17)
ReverbNation
Strengths:
-Semi-famous “alumni” (Red Fang, Cage the Elephant, Alabama Shakes)
-Can upload and distribute music to online music shops
-Industry connections (Bonnaroo, Summerfest, Red Bull Music)
-Can sell music directly from their site
-Tools for tracking popularity, ratings of your music
-Can search for musicians, bands, venues, labels
Weaknesses:
-Paid tiered accounts (musicians often struggle financially) with no guarantee
of return on investment
Can pay to get feedback on a track that isn’t useful (one Reddit user said they got a PDF of tons of “It’s Great!” feedback, all in broken english)
-Not very actively used by musicians (more of a “Why not?” place to make an account)
Gigmor
Strengths:
-Directly search for gigs available in your area
-Add and message people in your area
-Signup is free, no paid tiers for accounts
-Simple, straightforward design
Weaknesses:
-Completely dead (only one band in MKE is looking for a band to tour with, no upcoming gigs posted)
+Majority of accounts don’t even have profile pictures, the ones that do have some basic bio info but nothing else
Soundcloud
Strengths:
-Very popular with young artists
-Large, active user base
-Easy to upload and listen to other people’s material
-Follow and message accounts
-Easy to use & iconic UI
-Facebook-like customizable accounts (profile pic and banner)
Weaknesses:
-No “friending” system, can only follow accounts
-Hard to monetize its service
-Not really built for networking, can’t schedule gigs or anything like that

Professional Bio (Condensed Version)
Jared Pharris is a graphic designer based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Currently a senior at UWM in the Design and Visual Communications program, he specializes in branding, visual storytelling, typography, and illustration, but also has academic experience with video production, photography, and coding. He’s an information sponge, and loves researching to create and deliver highly personalized and unique solutions to each personal and unique client. Programs like Photoshop and Illustrator are his bread and butter, and his experiences working on the factory floor at the Wisconsin printing company Burton and Mayer made him well versed in the physical production and delivery aspect of design media. When he’s not making vector art, Jared can probably be found making noise with his electric guitars, or tinkering with electronics to create guitar effects pedals for his small business “Byooler Effects”.

A Personal Pantone Color
Q: If you were to pick a pantone color that represents you, what would it be and why?
Tumblr media
I’m fond of the color green, and its associations with nature, energy, and vitality, so I’d probably go with this Pantone shade of green, 2423 XGC. It’s a natural color, but it’s also bright and vibrant, and could easily be used in a modern color palette. It’s versatile and energetic, much like myself (wow that sounds corny).

Professional Bio (250-300 Word Version)
Jared Pharris is a design student at UWM, specializing in visual storytelling, branding, and creating visual identities, for anything from tech start-ups to intergalactic jazz-punk fusion orchestras. If you’ve got an artistic problem your venture is struggling with, odds are he can give you just what you need and how you need it.
Logo creation, advertising, and typography are some of his strong points, but he also has moderate experience with photography, video editing, and web development. In the modern age of online interconnectedness, being skilled in many fields is invaluable, and Jared is more than willing to try on a multitude of hats in order to push boundaries and innovate new solutions to complex problems. He does play guitar, bass, and sings in his own band, after all, so being a jack-of-all-trades is very familiar and natural to him.
He is more than familiar with working under tight deadlines and with highly specific project requirements, and takes pride in delivering on time and with a high quality of polish. Professionalism, attention to details, and thoughtfulness are always on his mind, regardless of the task at hand. He recognizes every job and business is different, but every single one deserves the same (high) level of care and respect.
When he’s not working with everything from felt pens to Photoshop, he’s probably walking outside his neighborhood with his two wonderful Golden Retrievers, annoying his neighbors with loud noise from his guitar rig, or raising a digital ruckus with friends while playing video games online.
