Sickle cell anemia is a severe hereditary form of anemia (a condition in which the blood doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells). In the cases of Sickle cell anemia, a mutated form of hemoglobin ( a protein in the blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body) distorts the red blood cells into a crescent shape at lower oxygen levels. While here in the U.S the disease is very rare Medscape's websites says fewer than 200,000 cases per year on average. However, around the world circumstances for this disease are very different than they are here in America. In parts of the world such as Africa, The Middle East, Asia and even parts of Europe are suffering from the sickling of red blood cells at an alarming rate. The common misconception people have is that itâs just a âblackâ however around the world this issue is much larger than here in America not only people from African decent but all people that heavily affected by malaria too share the same fate as with the gene for sickle cell anemia. The prevalence for sickle cell anemia is closely related to malaria as it is a direct adaptation of the parasite known as Plasmodium falciparum that causes malaria over time this adaptation has grown to be an evolutionary trait so that people could better adapt to their environment. I am a firm we believer in the more we know the more we grow so to wrap things up I would like to share with you how you can get involved in helping people that suffer from sickle cell anemia Instructions Clink link https://m.redcrossblood.org/Lets-Do-More?scode=RSG00000E017&cid=nonbrand&med=cpc& Sign up to donate blood at your local Red Cross Note: Donating blood is optional their is also way to donate monetarily. However donating blood can directly help individuals suffering from the disease because while we have enough healthy red blood cells they do not many times this causes blood clotting and a loss of a healthy immune system as blood isnât being flowed through the body properly share your blood and save a life

America tells me I'm free but how am I supposed to believe that when my people live in fear. How am I supposed to believe in the home of the "free" & the "brave" when the people put in place to protect me are cowards. How are we celebrating Americas independence but people in 2016 still not free. Every time I watch the news it's something new more blues, headlines read another innocent Black man shot and killed how many innocent people have to die before we realize no of us are free. When is the world going to wake up and see who the real terrorists are. What will It take for people to come to the realization that black lives matter just as much as any other life in America. this post goes out to the family of Philando Castile you stay in my prayers đđž

I think it's different or maybe even wired that you see stereotypes as being a good thing this coup be because of the stereotypes that I face and how they effect me but I like that you took a different approach.
STEREOTYPES
I always thought that stereotypes were always a negative assumption about someone based on their race, religion, or gender. I never actually thought about the fact that some stereotypes are good and that sometimes people want to live up to their stereotypes. When talking with my group (aka Riya and Erika), I realized that everyone no matter what has some sort of stereotype. It could be from a sport you play, a class you take, or even the clothes you wear, but most importantly a stereotype could arise from your age. Our generation, specifically, is stereotyped as a whole bunch of teenagers who are too obsessed with social media to know anything about the world. I know that I, personally, donât fit that stereotype so it really Irritates me to no end. What I really took away from this discussion is that everything and everyone is stereotyped in some way, but each stereotype holds some truth.

I understand your point when you talk about how stereotypes work in school but they can also be found in the work place and in the media also I like how you pulled race out and talked about something you can relate to
Stereotype
When I first thought about stereotypes, I imagined how people dressed and who they are in school. I have seen people stereotyped in school the most, not just because I have been in school most of my life but because school is a place where kids are stuck and become aware of there peers, watching them and categorizing them into made up clicks. Students categorize their classmates by looks, hobbies, and intelligence. For example, they give the stereotype of a basic white girl or dumb blond to girls who are fond of name brands, boy bands, and have a big personalities. I witness stereotyping clicks in school because in a lot of TV shows that take place in a high school setting, they exaggerate certain stereotypes by making the Asians the smartest kids, the white blonds cheerleaders who are not that bright, black delinquents, and dumb jocks.
After the discussion with my classmates, my view on stereotypes broadened from just stereotypes in school to stereotyping skin color, race, and gender. A lot of personal stories where told about how the way a person acts is wrong if it doesnât fit the stereotype that is attached with the color of their skin. If a black girl talks respectful and enjoys name brand items along with her Starbucks coffee, then she is called an Oreo, black on the outside and white on the inside. If an Asian is doing bad in a class then they are not holding up to their stereotype of being the smartest kid. Stereotypes are a way to classify people and put them into groups, there are a few people who may be their stereotype, however, you can not class a person into a specific group because everyone behaves differently.Â
After uncovering my personal thoughts about stereotypes and hearing what my classmates mentioned, I feel strongly that stereotypes are a way to put people in a place, make them fall under some category as a way to be seen in society, because it is easier to group types of people then knowing each person individually. Stereotyping is terrible and a misrepresentation of individuals, however, it is strong in media today and i donât believe it is leaving anytime soon. Â

stereotypes
I used to believe the world was simple, I mean I never really understood the effect and power that a stereotype can have on someone. As I got older and a lot smarter and start facing adversities and discrimination I realized as a person of color and especially and African American male in American or "white society" that its not safe to walk the street having the color skin I do because of the negative stereotypes African American males face. Because of racial profiling not only am I in fear for my self but also my family and teenagers like me. People don't see what I and so many others have to face or go through other people see stereotypes as something you can just shrug off your shoulders or laugh off but when your seen as a thug or a gangster because of the color of our skin or when you are hunted down and beaten killed and in-prisoned by the stereotypes you face it's not just something you can laugh about or shrug off your shoulders. After the discussion in class I still view stereotypes as harmful, hurtful, and dangerous to P.O.C everywhere. I know now that realizing this kind of discrimination and racism exists is only the first step I believe it is so important to look at a person for their character and not the color of their skin their is so much more to a person then just a stereotype. Slowly are so quick to judge or make assumptions without getting know a person. All my life people have told me I sound " white" or I "act white" because I can speak proper English and some how people have equated being white to being educated or somehow people have mixed up the white way and the right way education is not limited to one skin color like being as well as being " ratchet" or " ghetto" people in end of the day can only be themselves not a stereotype nor a color because what defines you isn't skin deep and it sure as hell cant be found in some statistic or research.

âOnce I found the strength to be myself, I had no need to act myself.â
-Andrew  SullivanÂ
Once you realize that being unapologetically you is ok then you don't have to act like someone your not you donât have to be any extra any more or any less than what you are standing in the mirror being you is easy its one of a kind so why spend your hole life trying to be a copy of something you could never be people try so hard to fit in when all along all they had to do was accept themselves for how they were inside and out. self realization is a powerful thing because once you know yourself than you don't have to worry about what others think of you its not up for argument of who you are and what you want to be because your happy being simply yourself. This quote speaks volumes to young adults everywhere and especially young girls we spend so much time on social media trying to impress others its always âwho has the most followersâ or âwho has the most likesâ but we never truly look at ourselves without a filter without the mask we put on to fit. Being  you is easy so why try being anything else but youÂ

No UnMarked WoMan
women are constantly being judged on what they ware. They canât go unnoticed without someone pulling them apart at every seem, people donât see women for their personality or their ability they instead make judgment based on an article of clothing. If you show your cleavage than your a slut if you cover to much than your a stuck up bitch. Women are torn into pieces just from an outfit, but their counterparts get away with wareing basic clothing and they are just fine they don't have to worry about what a piece of clothing will make them look like they don't have an issue with a judgment being tied to what they have on, or their character being diminished because of the dress they choose being marked is a constant reminder that you are an object not to speak or move but something for men to admire and watch.Â

âWhy canât a woMan be more like a Man?â
George Bernard Shaw profound words echo in todays society with issues like gender roles and equality among genders. Gender roles and gender equality has aways been a huge issues in humanity; thats why its aways HIStory but  never  HERstroy. Women sense perhistoric times have been put into this box toped off by a glass selling that tells women what thier âsupposedâ to do and how their âsupposedâ to act, but  Man and Woman are more alike than different we place judgment on are differences because we get to the same goal differently we tell girls at a young age to value beauty more than their inelegance we tell them that they can't be tough, that it isn't their place to speak up to get dirty and to have fun being themselves. Instead we prepare them for a life were their treated like second class citizens without opinions. We tell them they belong in kitchens and behind stoves but never see them as the leader of the free nation of CEOâs.  Women canât be like man because society won't allow them to.  It only takes one person to put a crack in the glass selling but it will take an entire nation of well educated people to shatter the mindset and opticals put in place to hold women back from their true potential.  Â

THE MASK WE WEAR TO FIT
I can remember it like it was yesterday it was about 4 years ago I used to cover up all the disfunction and shity truths with a mask and I grew to fit it I would wake up every morning and put a fake smile on my face id wipe  away the dried up tears from the night before,  crying my self to sleep Id tell my self over and over that everything would be ok but in that moment it wasn't I covered up my depression with a mask because I know that my friends didn't understand mental illness and how it was effecting me they would run to the kid with the broken arm to sign their cast but my issues seemed like they were just all in my head they told me to get over my self to grow up but it just wasn't that simple so I decided to put on a mask I was aways happy and smileing but underneath it all was a sad kid that just wanted to stay innocent and hold on to a family that seemed to be falling apart I suffered in my own mind my thoughts told me life wants worth living and at the time no one was showing or telling me otherwise I was alone with my thoughts and I suffered with my depression I was the happiest kid with the biggest smile and  an ugly truth but I though I could barry all of that deep down in my subconscious but some how it was always there in the back of my mind telling me life wasn't worth living I know this wasn't healthy and I eventually seen a psychologist that help me with my depression I wasn't as sad any more and life started getting better even though a lot of  things changed I was no longer lost I finally ripped off the mask baring my truth I was happy not because thats what others approved of but because I was truly happy with life

Revision: So after taking in the feedback I received and consider making a small scale of what I want to make my comic strip I've added more writing that extends and resents my claim on hope and selfsame realization finding something as simple as hope during a difficult time to help us make it through a tragic time In our lives I want to find other things to improve on like the drawings but this is just a step in the direction of my final comply of the comic strip

Prototype #1 Phase one: Organize thoughts & ideasÂ
I want to start off by creating a rough draft of all my ideas and put them into this  prototype. creating a comic strip that symbolizes hope and how we can use it to survive difficult situations. I also want to try and create something that represents strength and courage through self realization.Â
Phase two: Create & construct comic strip designÂ
During this step I will overlook my prototype trying to find improvement. Next creating and constructing the design and the out line of my second protype  trying to improve from the first finding what can be fix, added or taken out I also want to come up with a sold prototype that looks closer to the final designÂ
Phase three: Draw & Write comic strip
At this point i want to have a well working prototype that I can present and get feedback on it and after go back and look to see where I need to improve. If that means going back to the drawing bored than that is what ill do I also want to find out the elements that are good and I can keep. Also I want to get begin constructing what could possibly the final productÂ

IDEATE: This process of the research was very helpful and fun. I was able to get a lot of great ideas in this brainstorming session âit also has allowed me to see how the abstract of hope can be represented in a lot of different and creative ways other than just a boring research paper đđ˝đinstead my group assisted me in seeing the multiple ways hope can be showcased for my claim around hope. I came to the conclusion that for a Proto type of my resarch I would make a comic book strip on how hope can be used during a difficult time in our lives. I also see this being very useful to my audience and helping them understand the concept of hope

FINDING ME
Finding Me is a similar story to Jaycee Dugardâs a stolen life written by Michelle Knight taking you through the dramatic events of her abduction, but they also share the same strength and courage in both journeys. I don't see them as victims but instead as survivors there powerful message of hope lives through there journy  http://www.cleveland.com/books/index.ssf/2014/05/michelle_knights_book_reveals.html

The JAYC Foundation was created by no other than Jaycee Dugard the foundation was started after the 18 year long events of her abduction, to me this shows the real courage and strength Dugard has. After all that she has gone through she can still do something so powerful for others helping them through situations where there looks like there is no hope. She has created a place that helps families that have been through traumatic events giving them hope for the future showing them life gets better that sometimes down the long dark tunnel we will find light I think Degrades journey shape the real meaning of hopefulness. -Interview with Jaycee Lee Dugard
The interview dose not take you through her entire journey like the book but instead takeâs the time to look to the future it goes back and forth from old life to new and show you how after 18 years of having to hide who she was she was able to say her real name âJaycee Lee Dugardâ she was able to take back her stolen life. She also describes what the symbol of the pinecone means how even though life can get tough we may fall down but we can always get back up and find a way to sill live its a symbol of her survival, hope and growth. Jaycee Dugard now 31 lives with her mother and two kids living a some what normal life. even with all Jaycee Dugard has been through she still has hope for the future and still finds a reason to simile. A stolen life quote
âMy situation was unique, and I canât begin to imagine what others are going through in their daily lives. You can survive tough situations is all I can say. I did. History has taught us that even when it looks like there is no hope, hope still lives in peopleâs hearts.âÂ
- Jaycee DugardÂ
As Jaycee Dugard takes you though her story she hopes people will see her journey as a testimony that though anything we can survive if we never give up on hope that one day things will be better and thing will start looking up it also goes through and highlights the fact that we need to speak up about things that arenât going right in our homes. she also explains why she is still so lucky and blessed to have the things she dose have and accepting the life that we are given. I believe Duargdâs story teaches us and underlines the importance of hope and take us through a joinery that embodies the abstract topic of hopefulness.Â

Primary Work Part II.
As I look at evidence that ties back to my primary work I have come across a few different links that help us understand how children are abducted in the first place the article http://www.freerangekids.com/over-700-children-are-abducted-a-day-says-viral-video/ is an awareness for parents, to better inform there child on safety the article uses several PSAâs to show parents that kids arenât as informed as they thought they were this article helps to prevent situations like Jaycee Dugardâs even though the power of hope can change the attitude of things it will never be able to bring your child back to life so this article reminds parents the importance of prevention making sure kids know what to do in situations with strangers that might be dangerous. A simple talk can change a childâs life forever, but we can only do so much to prevent a child from being abducted all we can do is prepare them and all thatâs left to do is hope all your work pays off
