This ensemble is an homage to faith, perseverance, and love. Thorns curl from the ground up at first seen as protection to our inner peace, spiritually, they remind us of the need for boundaries to protect our personal growth and the sanctity of our inner gardens.

Jesus wore a crown of thorns during the crucifixion, a powerful symbol of sacrifice and faith. This emblem teaches us that through suffering and self-sacrifice, we can achieve a greater purpose, as in our daily struggles, the thorns we encounter can be transformative, leading to personal redemption. They represent the trials and tribulations that shape our character. In many cultures, thorns represent protection against evil spirits and negative energies. They are the spiritual guardians that keep enmity away. A radicated belief in values in everyday life with tenacity and dedication, courage and determination.

Red hat with crystals.

Work in progress for these seven headpieces for the upcoming photoshoot.

The influence behind these headdresses are the late 1940's. These hats speaks for the personal style of a strong and well-presented woman. Glamorous manner, practical flamboyant at times steeped in a bygone era. Romantic at core it reflects the contemporary woman projected in a tangible world. This is Jasmine Bälder's vision inspired by all women.

1956 Evening gown.

The 1950s represent a period in women's fashion where trends varied greatly with many choices available. For Some women, the snug fit like Dior dresses were a must-have, while others liked the no waistline often referred to as "slack dresses". This gown is a reproduction of a 1956 commercial pattern. A sophisticated, lustrous and elegant dress that looks back on the 1940's slender tube gown when it first appeard. It also features a full circle from the knees down to the floor, of great popularity in the 1950's evening dress. I decided to keep it less fitted than usual to maximise the comfort at this time. I paired this look with some original 1950s jewellery parure, possibly in lucite material. This resin developed during the 1930's. Throughout WWII, military aircrafts windshields used lucite as well as submarine periscopes. It was a component that also prevented fewer harmful injuries to pilots in case of crash. After war this material was no longer needed, instead, accessories and jewelery designers reinvented the use of this resin. As a costume maker, reproducing a dress from the past gets me to an endless research in materials, the historical context and shape.
