Portfolio Crit
28/Mar/2019
Some good point:
Do not start at drawing execise, put some images let audience feel amazing.
When you take pictures of your book cover or sketchbook, you can show your hand areflipping a book.
Only one image in the first page.
30pt of text is too big.
No need to add text with each image.
Too many images in the same page, one to three are enough.
Let each page make sense, connecting them, even make a story.
Be more confident, show the pictures bigger.
I try to make a new portfolio with the suggestion.

After

Animation Crit
15/03/2019
Today we have a small group to have a crit of our animations and books.
I wrote down some notes of feedback to help me to improve my works.
My review:
Adding something to let people know what happen in the beginning.
Thinking of his family, what does it related to him. (can be an imagination)
Too long of eyes open and close
Children sounds at the end
Thinking about each sounds and frames
Tumblr media
The crit group have 7 people who make animations and 7 people who make books.
We see each others works together and find some good points and something need to improve.
The book with papercuttings are very impressive for me. It is quite clever design, you can see all the story at the same time. It is very colourful and beautiful. This is a sad short story, so the designer arrangement the colour of paper become darker and dark with the story. However, it is not very cleae of the story, and not easy to understand.

Monday Course- Essay Brief
25/02/2019
Some notes of essay that we need to consider.
What do I already know?
I choose Information design to be my essay subject. The key words in question I think they are "present scientific or technical information using images" and illustrations or animation communicate information.
Maybe more easy to know some very difficult information. Maybe more impressive. In the past, they didn't have camera to take the pictures, so they used drawings to let people what them looks like.
What do you need to find out?
Concepts, Contexts, Examples
Research
SQ3R- survey, question, read, recite, review
Survey- evalating for relevance.
->blurb, index, contents, introduction and conclusion, chapter opening, keywords, reference list
Question- thinking about purpose
-> information, contexts, concepts, debates, examples
Read-dealing with difficult texts
-Looking up words
-reading around the author
-putting points with own words
-using related examples to support these ideas
-visualise what is being said
Recite-understand, apply, note taking
->Make sure my notes are usable- clear, concise, ordered
->Organise notes
Review- in planning and writing
Planning
Benefit
->make writing easier, clear structure, stay focused and relevant, rehearse my argument, make sure I don't lose the reader
How to planning?
->Strong introduction, sections, a conclusion
Writing
->making an argument
* support points with evidence, Be balanced-consider different sides, Take up a position-my views
->Identification and description
Compare and Contrast
Evaluation of Importance
Interpretation specific to your topic
Editing
->Re-draft, Refine
->Presentation-make sure everything is correct.
->Reference - 1. 'Direct quotation' 2. Paraphrase
->In-text citation, bibliography reference
*different sources have different reference formats

Study Trip to the V&A: Interaction Design
04/Feb/2019
Study Trip to the V&A: Interaction Design week5
Group Li, jasmine Tez Yu, Cheon Young Park,Giwoo Lim.
1. I don’t know what’s real any more!
A key concept in video game studies is immersion. This refers to the feeling of getting lost or absorbed in a fictional world. We might think of getting caught up in the suspense of a thriller, or caring about movie characters as if they’re people we actually know. What different types of immersion do games create? Do they attempt to get us engrossed in a plot or empathising with characters? Might there be types of immersion unique to games – does enjoying moving around a virtual world count? Are there any games in the exhibition that seem to actively resist immersion?
1. The game uses nature’s virgin forests and ancient ruins to create a fascinating scene, and the changes in the seasons have given me a deeper experience of the game. Adding the melody and rhythm of the background music makes the game more vivid. The character’s movements are very smooth and smooth, allowing me to feel the physical movements that cannot be experienced in real life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Journey, this game is the same as the name of the game. I want to experience a journey, through walking and ancient magic (flight) to experience different means of transportation. The runes collected during the journey of finding ancient ruins gradually formed a scarf that enriched the character with a mission that allowed multiple people to participate and experience and interact with their peers. Explore the world together. The clothing is very elegant, this part of the game maker has done a lot of real research, even directly to the desert value test, including the foot movements, the foot touches the sand when the situation is recorded, so in the game experience Let the visual senses bring realism. Part of the real part of the virtual game mix makes me more immersive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Like, the virtual world allows me to experience the experience that cannot exist in real life. When I am in the virtual world, I not only experience different worlds but also experience the stories of the current characters, just like living in a different life. This kind of experience gives me different perspectives, so I like activities in the virtual world.
4. I feel that each game has his own different story and game experience. I don’t feel which game resists the immersion of the virtual world. This part is directly related to the individual’s recognition of the game.

Magic Paper (2017) by Guldies
Link: https://youtu.be/JJ_zMNNsmCk
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This stop motion animation mixs virtual and reality. It uses sound and visual to make audiences understand what happened in this story. For example, the copy machine prints a paper with a picture of faucet, and it uses a sound to show the water drop into the real glass. The materials in this animation are common in our daily life like faucet, printer, notebook, and glass. It uses colour paper to replace real water, and uses picture to be a faucet.That’s quite interesting.
