Jason raised his brow, genuinely unsure what he did to earn himself the little shit title this time. Breaking expensive tech shit sounded like a solid plan to him. Shrugging, Jason rolled with it anyway and stepped towards his uncle. "You sure you just wanna face the music like that?” He asked him, straightening himself up. Perhaps Jason might have been approaching this whole thing wrong, never any good at this kind of shit. He was more confront the problem head on and jump into action not rational thought and talking things through.
And so, Jason did something practically foreign to him. He saddled up beside Nico and tried again, offering him a third option. “Then uh, do you wanna talk ‘bout it or sumthin'?"
Tumblr media
Even in his anger and crisis he found it in him to tease his nephew. But when Jason said things like 'break the internet' he only made it easier. But even the little silliness brought a calmness to him, made him take a deep breath and even let out a little laugh. "You are such a little shit." He said with the shake of his head.
"It's whatever man. I'm tired of hiding." Though he wasn't sure if she would go through with it now that she knew the details. Her reaction to the gore was quite visceral. "Iris." He said with an exhale, "I think it's time we face the music."

Ten damn years. That sounded like a hell of a long time away — a long time for someone who lived on the edge like Jason did, who never backed down and didn't fear the consequences. A decade from now worry lines and wrinkles would be a privilege, a welcomed one, one he'd wear like a badge of honor should he get there. "How 'bout this?" Jason shook his head, his features budging just enough to offer her a proposition. "In ten years if the phantom or the snakes haven’t gotten to me first, you can tell me ‘I told ya so.’ Probably still won't listen though.”
His jaw clenching next—might as well have been second nature by now, tightening at the details of all that went down the night of the explosion. "Shit, Brooke." Jason looked back at her. They may not have been on the best terms, but he didn't like seeing her or any of the Ghost Riders like this. Not when he didn’t have a single scratch on him. "I’m not lyin’ to ya. I am fine." His shoulders fell into a haphazard shrug as he shook his head. "Just wish I coulda done somthin', or been there. I don’t know — something.”
Tumblr media
Maybe in the weight of everything she was just trying to bring a smile to his face. Jason was stone and in times of crisis he became a diamond, the toughest material on this earth. It's why she liked him so much. A diamond in the rough, her aladdin so to say. "Yep, uh-huh." She knew what he would say, heard those words before. "And you know I'm gonna say in ten damn years when you look twice your age you will and then what am I gonna do with you? And that face isn't short of perfect, keep it that way." She shook her head a little and cracked a smile.
"I am fine, I just tri-" But his following words cut her off. "You know me to damn well Jason Macavoy." He always saw straight threw her shit. She wasn't fine but she was. If she kept saying it, she would believe it eventually. Compared to everyone else, this was a walk in the park. "Got a little too close to the blast, thrown a little, came down on my arm. I'm not sure what I hit my head on, everything was so smokey and loud and my ears were ringing, someone saw me I guess, and dragged me out." She looked up at him and met his eyes, "But I am fine, seriously. Bones heal, now how are you and don't give me that I'm fine crap either, you can't lie to me."

"Nah, nah, that's real good shit man." Jason nodded and wouldn't have changed a damn thing about it. Both Luka and Freddie both deserved to be honored in such a way. "Sounds real tough, too. Like some badass boxer name or some shit." He added as he shadowboxed the air to further his point, a small smirk tugging at the corner of mouth. "I just can't wait to meet 'em." Even after all the shit, there was still some light to look forward to through all the dark.
"We go down this road together." Jason repeated as he exhaled, thin wisps of smoke encircling his words. Words they had once sworn to each other a long ass time ago. Ride or die. Another drag followed, allowing Zak's thoughts to settle for a moment. Jason knew what dues his friend was talking about and nodded his support. "And it's 'bout time you owned that shit, but I got ya if you need back up."
It was the mention of current concerns that had Jason straightening up next. Keeping busy with the MC had always been a solid way to deal with his shit in the past. "Anythin' you need me to take care of?"
Tumblr media
"Luka Fredrick, after Luka and Freddie." Luka's death rocked them both down to the core, Oxana more than anyone. The recently departed former VP was one of her closest friends. "I said yes to the middle name if we could make you the godfather, Luka Jason didn't have the right ring to it." Both of their names held importance, Luka's to close friends and Irina's to their combined heritage. "Don't think we cut you out, Jasorella was a close second and might be a long-running nickname."
"I know you can, I know it's a lot but we got you. We go down this road together, that's what best friends are for, plus some of it is my fault so it's time I pay my dues." He knew Harley would read him the riot act. "Me?" He let out a dry laugh, "I'm trying to hold it together, enjoy one of the three best days of my life, but there is a gloom, a gloom I don't want to linger over this day forever,r but one I can't ignore for much longer. The easy part is done, they are here, they are healthy and Oxana is safe. Now I've got to work like hell to make sure that never changes. And that is only just one of my current concerns."

You have a family. And damn was Jason grateful for it — the ones by blood, the ones by choice, and the new ones who just entered the world only hours ago. "Irina, that's pretty. I like it, and the little man?" Jason asked, his stance letting up slightly at their mention. How could it not? "But yeah, I know. Thanks. Just a lot of shit all at once I guess." Jason told him as he looked Zak straight in the eye then quickly added. "But nothin' I can't handle."
There was a shrug that followed, and Jason puffed some more smoke into the air. He sure as all hell couldn't argue with him there. Ox was the best at everything. "Ain't that the truth." He clapped his free hand to best friend's backside. If his head was pounding from everything, both the good and the bad, he couldn't imagine what Zak had going on up there. "And what 'bout you big guy? You good?"
Tumblr media
Zak let out a laugh, "No, we didn't, but I figured I'd call her that at least once. Irina. We named her Irina Nour." Zak said softly, his little princess was perfect, as was his strong little man. "I do know you man, which is why I am here. You don't have to choke this shit down, you have support, you have a family." Because that's what they all were, a family. "They are doing good, getting some tests done, doing the paper work and all that."
It had been one hell of a night, there was so much for them all to process. "She's doing good too. She is a trouper, really. But it's Oxana, she is amazing at everything she does."

Jason wouldn't have been able to describe it if he tried, not even with a gun pressed to the back of his skull — describe the thoughts that wracked his mind or the heaviness that weighed on him let alone articulate them out loud. But knowing Oxana was in his corner was enough for him. And perhaps in time, he could make sense of it all to her. But for now, her worried glint was met with a pointed look and a haphazard shrug, waving it all off as not a big deal. Because it was. There were way more important things for her to focus on.
"Yeah, 'course I'm sure and if anythin' we can just crush this bad boy instead." Jason suggested, gesturing towards the push present with just the nod of his chin. The pause that followed was a deliberate one allowing for a moment of debate as to whether or not he was being serious or not, stretching in the silence until Jason shook his head to confirm that he was mostly kidding. "Only messin' around."
Oxana's question had his attention shifting back to where it should have been all along on her and the twins —  his god children and one of the two reasons he'd gotten Dilan and himself out of that damn carnival and to the hospital in the the first place. "Hell yeah I wanna see 'em." Jason practically jumped at the chance, the closest thing to smile at his lips. Distractions were the best way to cope. "Zak says they got my eyes."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
EVEN FROM HER BED, oxana would always worry about the rest of the ghost riders. it was inevitable, in all honesty. after living a life fighting tooth and nail for the only family she had ever had -- she was always ready to act. even after just giving birth. the news of the explosion had caused her blood to run the kind of cold she knew so well, with the loss she had experienced. while she understood that jason and zak wanted her to rest ( and was well aware that it was in her best interest ), she would be unable to completely calm her mind until each and every one of her people walked through that door. a text simply would not be enough, even if it brought her a sliver of peace of mind.
of course, the blonde's eyes light up as her eyes come into focus on the label of the bottle. her favorite whiskey. it wasn't just the nature of the gift, but it was the fact that he remembered. she was still getting used to people caring so much that they thought of these things. remembered the small things about her -- just as she had learned to do for them.
you know me, ox. i'm good. frankly, his attitude about the entire situation was like looking in a mirror -- how she would have been when she was his age. while she had found herself on a slow progression in terms of accepting her emotions ever since she arrived in new york city, even then her shell had been much harder. " you sure? " she questions, her face matching his but with a noticable worried glint in her eye. however, her face does blossom into a gentle smile at the mention of her twins. a beautiful boy, and a beautiful girl. " i'm.. holding up as well as i can, considering the circimstances. " her children had entered this world, while other people had left it. " i've got pictures, if you want to see. i just can't get over it... they have part of each of us. zak and i. "

Pride set in first, watching Maddie mustered up the courage to leap into her brother’s arms, brave in her own way just like Jason and Asher had told her she was. It was followed by some semblance of a smile looking on as Asher and Maddie officially reunited. Jason took the opportunity to slide his other present on the bedside table, a pack of Marlboro Reds for when Asher was ready for them— or even when he wasn’t. Just something to take the edge off.
As Jason looked up from the pack, he found Asher's eyes and he immediately shook his head at him, features pulling into something more serious.  “Hey—  knock that shit off.” Jason all but pointed a warning finger in his half-brother's direction. Not only did no one need to check on Jason, no one needed to thank him either. It's just what the kid did. What he did for his people, for the ones who wiggled their way into his inner circle. That very circle that seemed to be growing in the last couple of months, the proof right here in this very hospital, in this very room even. “You don't ever gotta thank me for shit like that.”
Jason nodded, and Maddie was back in his arms. He nodded a second time. This time in agreement with Asher's words confirming to the little girl that she was safe now and nothing like that would happen again... not if he could help it anyway.
"Been a couple days now, but she's actually a helluva lot better. Right, Maddie?" Jason explained recalling that first night all over again. He would never forget it. Never forget the look on Maddie’s face when Nico brought her to the hospital. All covered in ash and soot, speckled with teeny tiny bruises from the impact of the blast. Jason would never unhear it either. He would never unhear the little girl’s sobs or how some asshole had the audacity to tell him to calm her down. It took everything in him not to punch the guy right then and there. He'd never forget how Maddie clung to him either as they sedated her and stuck an IV in her little arm, leaving him to step up while Mrs. Brooks was still making the trek over from Brooklyn.
His expression twisted for a moment at the thought of it, sighing and settling himself into the visitor’s chair with Maddie still in his arms. "And she’s been hangin' with Soph and some of the other Ghost Riders. Havin' a real good time playin' and shit." Jason paused as Maddie nodded to back him up on that before continuing on.
"Your ma's been by to take her back and forth, too.” Jason added, scratching the side of head. It was the first time he had met her — the woman who his father cheated on to knock up his own mother. Part of him wasn't sure how she'd take to him, the product of her husband's infidelity, but the big bear hug and the tray of food she brought him each and every time afterwards had said it all. “Real nice lady.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It had been hell - a total and complete hell for Asher. When he had come to, finally in the hospital - they had to physically hold him down. He didn't understand what had happened, why he was in the hospital, but most importantly - where Maddie was. It was his only screams, the echoes of desperation for his baby sister that he had been separated from within the blast - and thank god they were. If she had been with him, by his side - she wouldn't have survived, that is what the doctors had told him. It ached and awoke something in him - a fiery rage, seeing as this little girl was covered with ash and tears, screaming for her brother for hours, and had to be sedated herself. She had been through so much - it killed Asher to have to put her and his mother through more. He felt wildly protective of them all of his life, Vincent too and that had ended horribly - he vowed he would never let anything happen to Maddie or his mother. Swore it to himself.
Asher was just about to go into a light nap, after having his dressings changed, and when he saw the little blonde curls his entire face lit up. "Ayyyy! There she is, my Maddie moo! Hey, baby, look at you!" He had cooed to her, excitedly, and normally Maddie would be all smiles, giggles, bouncing around - but she instead she whimpered, crying, clinging onto Jason, hiding in his chest. It was a lot for such a little girl to see, to absorb - it broke Asher to see her react like that.
"Ay, Mads, it's just me, I'm okay. I'm okay, baby, look at me. I'm tough, I'm tough like you and JayJay, remember? I'm okay!" He reassured her and Maddie picked up her little head from hiding in Jason's chest, looking at Asher with a trembling lip. Ashie okay? Ashie brave? Asher smiled, nodding, patting the bed for her to come. "I'm brave like you, Maddie moo, you know that. So brave - it's okay, you're not goin' to hurt me, baby. Come give me a big hug." That was all Maddie needed to hear before leaping down from Jason's arms into Asher's and even though it hurt at first - it didn't matter. It didn't matter.
"There she is - there's my tough girl. It's okay, baby, I got you, I got you." Asher's eyes found his brother's, as Maddie clung onto him like a spider monkey and he laughed. "Jay ... I don't know where to start, how to begin to thank you and Nico ... I ... " His voice broke as he held onto his little sister and looked away for a moment.
"If Nico hadn't had f-found her - if you hadn't have taken care of her .... The nurses said she was terrified, wouldn't stop screaming and just clung to you .. " Asher let go of the hug and let Maddie snuggle in his bed, but sure enough, the little girl found herself off the bed to go right back to Jason - like a security blanket and it made Asher smile in relief, happiness.
JayJay took care of Ashie and Nicky saved me too. It was scwary, Ashie.
"I know it was, Mads - I know. We're all safe now though - we are. Nothing like that will ever happen again." The little girl kept herself tight around Jason and Asher's smile didn't fade. "How long she been like this?"

No matter how incriminating it might have looked Jason Macavoy and adorable didn't go together. No — absolutely not. Not even as the heat crept up the side of his neck and that alleged look deepened and ultimately betrayed him, defenseless when it came to keeping the admiration for his girlfriend from his features. It proved one thing though; Jason Macavoy and adorable only went together when Dilan Sahin said it did.
“Yeah, yeah it's alright. Just like keepin' me on my toes I see." He teased, those blues narrowing into a set of playful slits as he shifted on the balls of his feet to further his point. "But just know I’m onto ya, baby. You got a fleet of hunters or sumthin' hidin' 'round here too?” Jason made another Artemis reference, unknowingly revealing to her another side of himself in the process — he was such a sucker for all that roman empire and mythology shit.
When Dilan turned around to face him Jason met those brown eyes of hers first, a small smirk piercing the corner of his mouth even while she pressed a kiss to his lips. "Stance, huh? I'm listenin'." And he was, for now, unable to take his eyes off her and the confidant way she carried herself as he was given the bow. Cupid might as well have had him in chokehold now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dilan couldn’t stop the smile that spread across her features at his words. Within their relationship Dilan loved the fact that there was still so much they both could learn about each other. With her gun shooting lesson just beginning, the brunette thought it was only fair to let Jason in on one of her hidden talents. "I'm sorry for not telling you sooner baby, but seeing that adorable look on your face let me know I made the right decision." Her face lit up as she looked into her boyfriend's eyes, mirroring a grin back to him as she spoke. "Artemis has a nice ring to it, it's something I picked up when I was little." The brunette smirked as she looked over at him, she'd been waiting for the perfect opportunity to show off her skills to him.
Her head turned as he hands slid around her waist, her free hand moving to rest on top of one of his before giving it a squeeze. "It'd be my pleasure handsome." She turned to face him, placing a soft kiss against his lips before handing the bow over. "First things first, your stance."

Jason: Babe, I got like three good shirts tops, but I'll make the room for ya don't worry. Stay as long as you wanna. I'm serious. [Jason jogged over to her. The rest of his words were spoken half on the phone and half in person as he wrapped her up in his arms to take her home] Jason: Always. Only wish I coulda got here sooner. C'mon let's get the fuck outta here.
Jason: “Stay as long as ya need to. Hell, I’ll clear the whole damn closet out for you if you want me too.”  Jason: “I see you now baby, could spot that pretty face anywhere.” [Jason pauses to wave to her] Jason: “And Dil—” Jason: “I swear everythin’s gunna be alright. I got you.” Dilan: "You'd let me stay that long? Baby, you don't need to give up your entire closet. Where will you put your things?" [Dilan looked around at his words, a smile forming on her face as she locked eyes with him and waved] Dilan: "You got me...that's something I never have to worry about. Thank you for rushing all the way over here."

"Ya know what I meant, Nico." Jason shook his head and was quick to amend his declaration, keeping the steady hand at the base of his uncle's shoulders. "Then we break the internet or whatever the hell it's called." He offered instead using the popular phrase though the version in his head actually involved smashing computers and laptops and all that other tech shit.
His brow arced at the rest of this uncle's words not taking them at face value but as a product of the man's pent up frustration and anger. "C'mon I know ya don't really wanna do that." Jason said and wracked that thick skull of his for an alternate solution, something bold. "But didn't you used to fuck that tech chick? Maybe she can do sumthin' to stop it."
Tumblr media
Nico shook his head, "Jason, you really got to upgrade your phone or some shit. They don't print newspapers anymore, that shit is online. It's fucking forever." And he gave her every gory detail of his time there, things he never even admitted out loud before. Nico's eyes looked at the turned over trash can and he picked it up again before kicking it over once more, taking his anger out on the thick plastic.
"She already has gotten away with it and now everyone will know." He let out an exhale, "unless we kill her before, but you know..." The tightness in his chest squeezed his heart at the thought of losing her. "I can't kill her because I love her."

While he appreciated the support, Jason wasn't really in the mood for the games. The gravity of all that went down still was weighing on him — for all those that where exposed, wounded, or worse. Yet, he went along with it anyway “Then you already know what I’m ’bout to say, too," Jason began, peering up at where Brooklyn's palm had landed on his forehead. His blues traced a path from the spot back over to her. "That I don’t give a shit 'bout wrinkles or worry lines or whatever hell else is wrong with my face.” It was more nostalgic than anything, something he would have said back then as well as now.
Beneath all those hardened edges, his concern was there. Or perhaps was it guilt? Jason really wasn't exactly sure. Just a part of him that wished he could have been in two places at once to also be there for all the ghost riders who sustained injuries. "Don't look fine to me. How'd it happened?"He asked, blues narrowing as he looked down at her broken arm. “And don’t gimme some bullshit like you tripped or somethin’.”
Tumblr media
Brooklyn let go of him, it was a quick embrace and she didn't want to linger, just offer support. "Don't do that." She said reaching up and bopping him on the forehead. "You already know what imma say about that and wrinkles," It brought her back for a moment to how things used to be. It was something he heard from her a lot back then with that same bop to his forehead. "Once you got them you can't get rid of them, you are too young for worry lines."
It helped prolong answering his latest words as well. "I am alright." She said softly as she let her eyes drop to the floor, not meeting his. She had a hard time downplaying things while looking him in the eye. Those icy blues, the ones that brought her comfort and warmth, were hard to lie to. "It's just a broken bone and a bump to the head. I'm fine."

Jason: “Fuck. I gotta go let Zak know what’s goin' on over there.” Jason: “But you sure you’re okay right?” Jason: “Just get the hell outta there.”
Brooklyn: "Fuck. I can't believe I missed it" Brooklyn: "umm.. yeah. The ferris wheel... a bomb i guess. It exploded. The whole thing just came crashing down. There is like fire and smoke everywhere." Brooklyn: "I'm okay though.. I'll be at the hospital soon. Trying to find someone. Just glad you guys made it out okay."

Jason was already at the fridge, more stocked than usual thanks to some recent feminine touches. A brow was raised and a shit-eating smirk was plastered all over his face at Blake's words. "Wow, so ya actually do give shit 'bout me." He teased, snagging a couple much needed cold ones for them. While Jason had got off rather easy compared to most, so many of his people weren't so lucky. At least, Blake wasn't among of them. "And you either, Harrow." His smirk began to let up, and he tipped his freshly opened beer bottle towards hers to clink. "Deal?"

There were very few people Blake cared about enough to check on, even less who's door she would turn up at to make sure they were okay. Jason was a rare exception although she'd never tell him that. "Hey, I'm guessing you and the princess made it out okay the other night? I know your ass is like the last person I have to worry about but I still do okay? You're not allowed to die on me yet Macavoy. I still have so many more years of annoying you left to do."

for: @honeyedsins (asher) where: asher's hospital room
Brave like Ashie. Brave like JayJay. Maddie practically chanted over and over again, hand and hand with Jason as they walked down the hallway towards Asher's hospital room. He peered down at her, little features pulling into a scowl that oddly resembled one of his own, and Jason immediately stopped them at that, shaking his head as he crouched down to the little girl's level just in front of Asher's door.
"Nah, brave like Maddie, remember." Jason said and would make sure his little sister knew; that there were all kinds of bravery. It was something that Adeline, whether she meant to or not, had taught him in the short time he knew her. "You remind me of a friend of mine, ya know. She was real brave like you. C'mon. Ash's waiting for us." His head nodded towards the door while little Maddie nodded intently at him, and he scooped her up in his arms.
“Yo, Ash—" Jason called out from beyond the familiar door he'd been in and out of over the past couple of days. He pushed it open slowly as Maddie clung to him, little hands digging into his shoulder blades. There was one last nod for reassurance, and he brought them inside. “Got a 'lil present for ya.”

Jason was the last person anyone needed to check in on. Especially Oxana, and especially not after she'd just given birth. He didn't leave the carnival exposed or wounded — not even one single scratch, just a heaviness that weighed on his chest for all the others who weren't as fortunate. All people he wouldn't think twice about jumping in front of an active shooter for, and one he already had.
And so, Jason did what Jason did best. He pushed all those pesky feelings aside and armed himself with a smuggled bottle of Oxana's favorite whiskey as he made his way into her post delivery room.
"C'mon you know me, Ox. I’m good." Jason deflected and set the present down on the new mom's bedside table, immediately noting the exhaustion in her features. "More importantly though, how are you holdin' up, mom?" He asked, putting particular emphasis on her new title. "And the little guys? I'm so friggin' pumped to meet 'em."

FRANKLY, WHEN OXANA READ the news article -- one of the first people she had thought of was jason. many people he cared about had their lives endangered, hell, one of them had even died. while she knew why she was here, that she needed to rest for the sake of herself and her children -- she needed to check in with him. see where his head was at. thus, her relief when he turned into her doorway. " hey there, stranger. " oxana murmers gently, her exhaustion hard to ignore. even if she was tired, she would happily take him as a visitor. the twins were in the nicu, but oxana had already taken a handful of pictures. so she could look at them while they were away. she was already struggling with the seperation, having not quite registered the blur that had been the previous evening. from working at the heart break smash with griffin to the hospital. she'll bring them up when he's ready. after all, he was enduring a loss. " how're you holding up? "

Nico's story. Something Jason — as close as he was to him, didn't even know all the details to. And now the whole damn city was about to find out. "Ah, fuck." Jason shook his head. His expression hardened, jaw automatically tightening in solidarity with his uncle as the man's voice rose and the heat of his rage filled the space.
Details or not, anger like that was a feeling Jason knew all too well, and Nico didn't deserve that shit. No matter how much of an acquired tasted he could be. "Hey— you're a helluva lot more than just your story." He moved in to steady his uncle, a hand at the base of each one of shoulders. "And she's not gunna get away with this shit. I'll get my hands on every damn copy and burn 'em all if I gotta."
Tumblr media
Jason finally caught up to him hit at this point all Nico felt was rage. “She’s fucking played me.” Nico lashed out as he turned to face his nephew. There were very few people on this earth Nico trusted and cared about and Jason was number one on this list. “She fucking played me. I fell in love with her and it was all a fucking lie!” His voice raised with every god damn word.
“Vittoria is a fucking reporter. She was using me.” He knew Jason would understand what he was implying. “She wanted the story. The great mystery of Dominic Macavoy. Again I’m nothing more than those fucking six god damn years.” He shook his head. “So I gave her what she fucking wanted. I gave her the fucking story.”
