“you’ve come to the right person,” jay chuckled. “i’ve always got some chocolate chips hanging around my place. if you pay me back with a couple of your chocolate chip pancakes, i will forever be grateful to you.”

“ so i was making chocolate chip pancakes but ran out of chocolate chips. and who likes regular, old fashioned pankcakes ?? nobody. which is why i need to know if anyone has chocolate chips just hanging out in their kitchen ? or possibly their room ? i promise to pay you back with a pancake or two.”

“You’ve got yourself a deal there,” Jaylen agreed with a warm smile. “It has to be perfect though, and I’m still at a lost at when I should do it and how it should be done. I mean, Areum is the kind of girl that will love anything someone she loves does for her, y’know? But I mean...this has to be perfect.” Just the thought of proposing sent chills down the boys spin, but not in a bad way. He was just nervous as hell. The hug caught the boy by surprise, mainly because his mind was somewhere for a split second, but it didn’t stop him from wrapping his arms around the small girl and returning the affection. “You’re welcome, Eunbi. Just speaking the truth,” he chuckled. “Well as soon as you get home, just give us a call and we’ll come over. Maybe I’ll even bring Snow with me and we’ll see how well they interact, yeah?”

Giving a small side smile, Eunbi remained silent throughout his explanation, understanding where the man was coming from. Still, she’d love to be able to attend her sister’s wedding before the year was over, but she wasn’t going to tell that to Jaylen. “Yeah, it makes sense. Just make sure that when it does happen, to let me in on it, or at least tell me before you do it so I can film it or something, deal?” she asked, the smile on her face showing she still had some hope. Jay’s next words were so kind, ones that she couldn’t remember the last time she had heard, at least from anyone that wasn’t family. They were words that truly touched her, and caused her to leap forward into a hug on the man. “Thank you, Jaylen,” she muffled into his shirt. Pulling away, her arms still around his waist in an embrace, she smiled. “A lot of people don’t feel that way. Actually, they feel the exact opposite. So it means a lot coming from you. But I’ll totally make sure to do that, heaven knows I’ll probably need help as soon as I get home, though,” she only half joked.

“Of course, beautiful,” he chuckled. “But I know you and Athena are a package deal, and I’m more than willing to take it.” Jay couldn’t help but feel a bit worried with out quite she had become while he spoke of how he felt. She did feel the same as him, didn’t she? Of course her cute little snort made a round of laughter burst from the boy, taking it that she was at least listening. Jaylen happily let his fingers collide with hers, his forehead leaning toward hers and giving a warm smile at her little kiss. His smile stayed strong, his gaze looking at the little girl in his lap who was too busy gazing at the room around her. Areum’s words hit him strong, feeling proud that such a little thing could love him so much, even if she couldn’t really voice it just yet. Even if she didn’t really understand the gravity of the situation. Of course, as Areum trailed off in her sentence, his smile fell just slightly, his gaze meeting hers once more. The boys named popped into his head, almost spilling from his lips, but Jay refused to let it happen. Sitting up, his face a bit further away from Areum now, his eyes stared down at their intertwined fingers. How long has it been since the last time he saw his former friend? Too long, with no word. He knew it was probably for the best. The two ran into a bump in the road that they simply couldn’t get over together. Areum’s question took him by surprise a bit, his eyes looking up at her for a brief moment before shaking his head. “No, I haven’t. I don’t think I ever will, either. Not unless he comes back to visit you and Athena.” A sigh fell from the boys lips, followed by a shrug. “We just...kind of fell out of that friendship, babe. And it’s not your fault, or Athena’s fault, or anyone’s really. Something just came up and I suppose our friendship just wasn’t as strong as we thought it would be. But I have you, and I have Athena. Athena has you, and she has me. I know I’ll never be her true dad, but that won’t stop me for being a fatherly figure to her, y’know?”

The blonde gave her boyfriend a playful hit from his laughter, pretending to be mad only to break the facade in less than five seconds. “Hopefully in that time you’ll get to be around me more than her, though, right?” she smirked playfully. On most days she would’ve joked around with him with his question, but the knots in her stomach prevented her from doing so at the time. She was so distracted my her own nerves that were riding higher than they had been lately that she was somewhat caught off guard by Jaylen’s touch. With the brush of his thumb, however, a calming smile tempted to pull at the corners of her mouth. Her eyes slid shut as she listened to his words of reassurance, turning into his palm to deliver soft kisses, humming softly in content as she did so. As he told her everything that seemed genuinely too good to hear. But the best part of it was that it wasn’t, the best part was that Jaylen would never lie to her about things like that. He hadn’t and he wouldn’t. Areum had learned that by now with no doubt. The blonde was so encapsulated with everything that he was telling her that when he threw in about her sister, it caught her more off guard than would’ve been expected. Pulling away from his hand, she tried to cover immediate snort the best she could, only half working. She noticed this drew some attention from her daughter, the toddler giving her mother a questionable look from the sound she emitted. Running her hand on the back of the girl’s head, Areum used her free one to seek out Jaylen’s, intertwining their fingers like they had done so many times before. Bringing her forehead to the man’s, letting hers rest on his own, she gave a quick peck to his nose before smiling. “Of course I do,” she stated matter-of-factly. “I know how much of a good change you’ve been to not only my life but-” she motioned toward Athena, not letting their simple yet strong touch go, “she loves you so much, too, Jay. Like she can’t say it, but she’s never looked at anyone else that way. I mean the closest it ever was was-” she cut herself off, not sure if she wanted to say his name. The topic seemed such taboo for the couple, and though she didn’t want it to be that way, she didn’t want anything to be that way for them, it was still there. There was a heavy sigh that released from her chest as she realized that it was brought up however, somehow just avoiding it to be the better answer. When she found the father of her child, she was so incredibly happy she did, and he so obviously loved her so much. But when he disappeared, she wasn’t sure how to react. He had spoke of wanting to leave Brighton, which she was hesitant for but she wanted him to be happy, even if that meant it’d be a bit more complicated for their girl. She hadn’t heard from him, though, and she didn’t want to be mad or blame anything on him because she had no room to talk, but still. Here was this little girl, who was lucky enough to have a man in her life that wasn’t even her own father, but what exactly did that even make the man to her? “You haven’t heard from him at all have you?” she asked quietly.

Jaylen could see Areum grow flustered, and he couldn’t suppress the laugh that bellowed out of him because of her actions. He could understand where she was coming from. The questions her sister spoke were a bit personal, and anyone might have been slightly offended. Not Jay. It was just a quirk about the younger girl he admired. Not a lot of people were so bold and spoke their mind, and he liked it. “Well, seeing as I’m going to be around her for quite some time, I bette get used to it, huh?” He sent her a playful wink before they took a seat on the couch. He happily let his face lean a bit into her cupped hand, smiling up at her and soaking in her beauty. Of course, he knew something was brewing inside her mind, and he was curious as to what she could be so nervous about. Raising an eyebrow as she stopped speaking for a second, he couldn’t help but let out a small sigh with a usual smirk. “Second best, huh?” He teased, knowing that Athena would always be number one, and he would never want it any other way. “Don’t apologize, baby. You have nothing to be sorry for. You’re scared, and I understand that. I’m scared too.” He let his hand now cup her own face, his thumb rubbing gently against her cheek, his other arm holding onto the little girl that still bounced on his leg. “Relying on someone like we do with each other, it’s terrifying. But I love you more than I’ve ever loved someone in my life. I’ve let you past my walls, shown you my weakness and just how vulnerable I can be. You know things about me that not a lot of people know. You’ve helped me in some dark times, and for that I’m forever grateful for you. Areum, you’re it for me.  There’s never going to be anyone else but you and Athena. Well, maybe another one or two little ones according to your sister,” he teased with a laugh, hoping to lighten up the mood. “The point is, you’re not alone with feeling afraid. But I’m not going anywhere, ever. Do you feel the same way?”

When Jaylen admitted the further extent of what her sister had said, Areum felt herself choke on her own saliva. Growing hot, the blonde fanned herself in hopes to calm the rising temperature in her cheeks, and the red face she knew she had without even looking into a mirror. Covering her face with her hands in embarrassment, she mentally kicker the younger girl for asking her boyfriend such invasive questions. Not that she was opposed to it, but more so because she didn’t want to take any chance of him being scared away. Finally the girl let out a chuckle before brushing some hair out of her face that had fallen as she tried to hide herself. “Well I’m glad you thank so,” Areum noted, “you’re probably one of the few. But that’s just what you’re gonna get when being around her.” The girl absentmindedly bit her lip from his compliment and fiddled her fingers with his own free ones for a lingering moment. She smiled and hummed softly when he kissed her forehead, gently tagging along behind him into the living room and taking the empty seat next to the two. “I don’t know, kind of?” Areum let out another sigh, this one riddled with nervous and anxiety. Reaching out, the blonde cupped his cheek silently and looked into the mans eyes for a moment. Not breaking the contact, she slid her hand down his neck and found the ring that hung around his chest, the ring she had given him those month ago. Slipping her finger through and bringing her hand back up to his cheek, the chain of the necklace now dangling from her hand, Areum gave a weak smile. “I know you love me and I love you Jay, but,” she cut herself off, breaking their eye contact and looking at the little girl he held bouncing on his knee. “I’m still so scared sometimes. You’re the second best thing that’s ever happened to me and I just get terrified because at this point, I don’t know what I’d do without you Jaylen.” The girl realized that she had gotten herself more emotional than she had intended, and turning away, the ring falling from her finger silently back down to his shirt, she forced a laugh out of herself as she tried to blink away the blurriness. “I’m sorry,” she forced another laugh, “I’m probably not helping anything at all.”

“Time...is complicated. I mean, I love her with ever fiber of my being, as I hope she does for me, but...” Jaylen let out a sigh, not really sure how to explain himself. “I guess, just for now, I’m okay with where we stand. I guess I’m also just waiting for the right time to propose. I want it to be perfect, and I just don’t feel like now, tomorrow, or even next week, would be the perfect time. Does that make sense at all?” A chuckle came past his lips with a slight shake of his head. “You’re fine, Eunbi. It’s just who you are, and you shouldn’t apologize for who you are, y’know?” It took Jay a long time to really believe that statement. “I guess so. If you need help with him, you’ll be sure to call Areum or I, yeah?”

Eunbi couldn’t help but chuckle at Jaylen’s eyes as they grew wide. “But if you’ve already thought about it and you know how you guys feel about each other, why do you need time? What effect will time have if you wait a year? It’s just another year she won’t have your last name!” Sighing, she still knew her efforts were probably futile. Most people didn’t seem to see love the way she did, and most didn’t agree with her on it either. “But fine, okay, I’m sorry if I got ahead of myself,” she mumbled, the last part being a phrase she hardly had to think of since she knew it all too well. Looking at the dog in her arms, she looked back at Jaylen with wide eyes. “So, I guess this means I’m taking this guy, huh?”

what's the most morally wrong thing that you've ever done?

i stole some candy from a store once. that counts, right? stealing is wrong, but i didn’t have any money and i was kind of pissed off at the world so that’s the first thing that came to my mind. doing anything ‘morally’ wrong just takes too much effort if i’m to be honest.
