wings of fire hot take: night/silks are underrated and should be normalized (for lack of a better term)

i love love love all my ideas for night/silks and i want to make them soo so much but i get really anxious about actually making them because i used to have one, very briefly, a really long time ago now, but i wound up deleting her because many many times i interacted with people as her, and even in the middle of roleplaying as her, people would ask me "wouldn't a night/silk just be a hivewing?" which is. wrong for a few reasons, both in terms of canon lore and in terms of how genetics generally?? work??

here's list of why so i dont jusf come off as venting:

1. the obvious. hivewings descended from clearsight (nightwing) taking many, many BEETLEwing husbands. not silkwinfs. the divide between what R now silkeings and hiveiwnf happened wayy late rtoo, it's somewhat implied that they were all jsug beetlewings until then.

2. genetics. as i said before thats. not really how it works. night+beetle did not immediately = hiveings. thats like immediately saying some alleged hybrid snimal (like those hybrid big cats) is it's own new, previousky undiscovered species with 0 evidencd.

2, continued. and again the silk & hive divide happened way later and also even if they did immediately decide to become their own tribe, they wouldn't be the recognized hivewings we see in the books, they would just look like night/beetle hybrifs. although its loosely implied that leafwings and maybe even modern silkwinfs have nightwingish markeings so maybe clearsight was getting busier than we realise lolll

When the health food store unionized, something wild happened that I thought was just a goofy one-off, but makes more sense now.

There was a big push to eliminate "degrading jobs" but the strategy was to eliminate the position, then create a new position outside of the bargaining unit to do the work. So like, we wouldn't have dishwashers, but we'd have people who washed dishes that weren't eligible to be in the union.

I was like A) what the actual fuck? Dish washing isn't "degrading", it's fucking vital. B) What the actual fuck? You want to create a union just to exploit different people?

There were enough of us to be like "Absolutely the fuck not," and put a stop to it, but I was absolutely flummoxed that people involved in a union would say that out loud. Working with more leftists now, it makes sense.

The idea of something being classy and fancy is such bullshit. Consider charcuterie boards. Random cold meats, cheese, crackers, olives and pickles served straight off a cutting board is the kind of goblin dinner I would eat laying in bed in my underwear too hung over to move. But since it's french then suddenly it's all refined and sophisticated.
