“Yeah, I know.” She sighed lightly. It was hard to get any of them to talk about stuff from the past and it could be frustrating even if she did get it on some level. “It definitely is our spot.” She chuckled, taking his hand. Her thoughts flashed to Daniel and she felt a flash of guilt, giving Jayden’s hand a squeeze. “You’re too good to me.”

“I wish they would at least give us some hints as to what happened back then.” Jayden sighed a little bit, it was hard for any of the adult to talk about what happened. “It most definitely is.” He chuckled lightly, squeezing her hand gently. Bringing it up to his lips, he kissed her hand gently. “I do the best that I can. How is Daniel doing? I tried to reach out since Brooke but he hasn’t called either.”

Sophia didn’t recognise him because of course so many years had passed since they were children and she surely didn’t look eleven anymore. Her head was crowded with all these thoughts and she just wanted to know who she was, where she was from.

“Um.” Sophia worked up a nod, looking back out over the park and then turning back to the guy beside her on the bench. “Yeah. Yeah, The.. weather’s nice, right?” A pause. “What about you?”

Years had passed, he knew this which is why he didn’t recognize her either. He certainly wasn’t that kid anymore either. All Jayden really remembered from his childhood was taking care of his mum and sister. Especially when his dad was busy with work. It sucked but he did it anyways. 

His thoughts went to Hope, something seemed off there but he didn’t want to push it or anything. Shaking his head slightly, he glanced over at her once again. “Yeah, it is. Not as bad as what it should be.” He joked lightly. “It’s going okay so far.” He held out his hand. “I’m Jayden.”

Hope smiled. “She’s so paranoid sometimes though.” She commented, though she understood why her mother was like that. “Hot Spot sounds great.” She nodded, moving to walk with him. “As long as they’re cherry scones.”

Jayden smiled back at her, and nodded his head a little bit. “That makes sense considering her past.” He commented, running a hand through his hair. “The Hot Spot seems to be our spot.” He teased lightly, walking next to her. Reaching out he took her hand. “Of course cherry scone for you.”

Jayden felt like he was going crazy, there were times that he could hear Hope in the bathroom talking to someone on the phone in a hushed tone. And when he would question her about it, she would just say it was her mother. Honestly he wasn’t sure what to believe. So of course he chose to believe her for now because he loved her and he trusted her. But he didn’t have anyone to talk to about anything since his father had passes away, his mother was someone that he didn’t want to burden with this. So he just kept it to himself. 

He remembered little things about his childhood and that included Sophia. She was a good friend until she was went away and Jayden didn’t understand why back then. Baberton was always home, and always would be home. But sometimes he did just want to run away or even get away for a weekend. Something like that. 

Taking a walk through the park, sighing a little bit. Glancing around a little bit, he seen people sitting on the grass. Jayden found himself sitting on the bench next to someone. Glancing back over at her, he put on a friendly smile as well. “Enjoying the day?”

Sophia was losing her mind. She needed to talk to someone but there wasn’t a single person she could talk to. Since coming back to this town, Sophia had been going crazy trying to piece her life together. She wanted to find her father (though of course he wasn’t really her father, was he?) Her mother had skipped town when Sophia was, what, nine? Eleven? She couldn’t recall but it was when the secret came out that Sophia was kidnapped and she was desperate to keep her. Sophia was then still kept in the dark, though confused why the dad she’d gotten to know was suddenly no longer around.

She and Jayden had been friends in their childhood days but had grown apart obviously when her mother took her away. Sophia remembered feeling safe here in this town. She related Baberton with childhood and happiness, and she wasn’t happy right now. She was a loner, she self harmed, she didn’t know who she was or where she belonged… and she blamed her mother but she also loved her. It was complicated and she couldn’t find the family she’d been taken from… wasn’t sure if she wanted to.

Sitting on a bench in the park smoking, Sophia felt exhausted as she looked out over the grass, watching. People felt so far away. She looked up as someone moved to sit beside her and worked up a hint of a friendly smile.

“Yeah, it’s just mum..” She said, nodding as she put her phone away, sighing gently. “She’s clingy right now.” Hope gave him another nod, smiling a little. “I might have forgotten about dinner, oops… but that sounds nice, yeah. I could eat something quick, what do you feel like?”

“I can understand that. My mum has called like over seven times today. So I get it.” Jayden chuckled a little bit, while smiling back t her. “Well if I had the choice to forget it I would. The Hot Spot? We can get some coffee and a couple of scones or something.”

Hope had gotten a little distracted because her mother was texting her and she was lost in thought as she replied before she registered he’d spoken to her and looked up, smiling. “Sorry. Yeah, no I could go for a break.” She nodded, putting her phone away. “Wanna go somewhere?”

Jayden watched her put her phone away. “Everything okay?” He asked, looking over at her still. "It’s alright.” He shrugged a little bit before nodding some. “That sounds good actually. Should we go and get something light to eat? We do have dinner with Vicki and Andres later.”

Studying that was what Jayden had been up to lately besides work. He had to apply for his internship soon. Which he was nervous about actually. Closing the book in front of him, he glanced over at her for a moment. “I need a study break. Are you game? Or do you have your own studying to do?” Not to mention they had to get ready for that dinner with Vicki and her boyfriend. He really couldn’t stand that guy and knew his sister deserved better.
