Reblogging because I used my designs for these canon characters in this piece - also I’m just really proud of it and want to share it with more people. ^^
Tumblr media
Alright, here's the last piece of art I currently have done, and not gonna lie I'm pretty proud of it. ^^ When the excerpt for Wind came out a few days ago, I was inspired to draw this scene from it, so here it is. :D
Here we have Frostpaw glaring up at Splashtail, her eyes glitteirng with starlight and the true light of StarClan's blessing, angry and hurt but more than anything determined to keep this cat from hurting her Clan any longer. The scar from Splashtail's attempt on her life is prominently displayed on her throat as she lifts her head to face him. Nightheart and Sunbeam, not as invigorated with the certainty of StarClan's guidance, more weary and worried, but still ready to be there for Frostpaw (well Nightheart is since he's her friend, Sunbeam barely knows her yet and doesn't really know what's going on and is more confused and worried, but if this Splashtail is a threat then she'll absolutely face that threat beside her mate and his friend). Splashtail, meanwhile, knows he has the Clans convinced and that Frostpaw is powerless to stop him from finally taking over RiverClan, and while keeping his composure in front of the Clans, the slight shift of expression, the glint in his eyes and the way his moonlight form thrown into shadow throws its vast shadow over the cats huddled in worried but determined defiance below, shows the true darkness in his heart.
I'm super, SUPER proud of how this turned out. :D Especially the bottom half of the image with Splashtail in the tree. I love how the tree turned out, the perspective, the lighting, the texture, Splashtail himself, his pose, his shading, the glint in his eyes. It just turned out so freaking *good*, I love it so much. :D The bottom half isn't quite as good, I'm really happy with how Frostpaw turned out but Nightheart and Sunbeam still seem a bit off, but oh well. Overall I'm still really proud of how the whole thing turned out. :D

Here's the last of the ref sheets I currently have done. Duskfur's whole family has bright shiny new ref sheets due to their newfound relevance to the story, and her ref sheet is not only wildly out of date but also wildly innacurate, so I figured it was high time this snobby old lady got a makeover. ^^ So here's Duskfur!
You can find the reverse side of her design here.
For her physical description, Duskfur is described as a small she-cat with a torn ear. She's very short, about Frostpaw's height, with a stockier build and broader face that she passes on to Podlight, and a very long, thick coat. The torn ear (the biggest nick in her left half-ear) and several of the scars on her face are from being captured by Darktail's Kin, and the scars on her neck are from the Dark Battle, a calico tom was described landing a "mighty blow" on her neck.
For her pattern, Duskfur is described as a brown tabby she-cat. I made her a colorpoint like her kits, so she's a lynx point tabby with a nice medium brown coat, a darker shade of her daughter's pale brown. She has no canon eye color, so I gave her the same amber eyes I gave her kits.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with how she turned out. :D

This tricky girl recently got a new description for her build in Thunder - she's described as slender with small inward-curling ear tufts and a narrow forehead. Given that I previously designed her as a stocky she-cat with a broad head and massive ear tufts, she definitely needed a makeover. XD
You can find the reverse side of her design here - along with a glimpse of her true personality.
For her physical description, Curlfeather is described as a slender, thick-furred she-cat with soft fur, a narrow forehead, and small inward-curling feathery tufts on the ends of her small, sharp ears. She's still on the shorter side, though a little taller than her old design, with as lithe, slender build and thick, soft fur. Everything about her, her light build, her soft pelt, and her warm, motherly expression make her seem warm and inviting - but as we learned in Thunder, it's all a façade to hide her darker ambitions. I kept her scars basically the same, she's still a warrior who's lived through a lot of battles and has earned the respect of her Clan. The bite marks on her front paw are from being captured by Darktail's kin, as are a couple of the other scars dotting her body.
For her pattern, Curlfeather is described as a pale brown she-cat with amber eyes. I kept her colors and pattern basically the exact same as before, only tweaking her nose, scar, and ear colors to fit the coat a little better. She's a colorpoint like her daughter. ^^
Overall, it took a lot of tweaking to get her to look how I wanted, but I'm really happy with how she turned out. ^^

This is another screenshot of the MAP part I talked about here.
This time it's after the battle in Sunset between Brambleclaw and Hawkfrost, when Hawkfrost is bleeding out into the lake, fulfilling the prophecy. The lighting is a little less intensely golden, showing that the sun has risen a bit since the last image, just to show the passage of time.
You know, they usually say that Warriors artists have a ton of different versions of the fire scene in their gallery that they've drawn and redrawn over the years, but for me that seems to be this lake running red scene. XD Here's a look at the various versions, including one in this ancient PMV of mine. Okay I guess that's only three. XD Ah well.

Here’s the best Clan founder, the boy himself, Riverstar! :D
You can find the reverse side of his design here.
For his physical description, Riverstar is described as a stocky tom with sleek, long, thick fur. I made him a nice big tom with lovely thick fur, using a Norwegian Forest Cat as a reference. Only a few scars for him, mostly from Hawk's attack on him (sliced and clawed ears, viciously clawed and bleeding muzzle, claws slashed on his nose) and some from his battle with SkyClan at the end (clawed flank, clawed belly, clawed shoulder, clawed hind led).
For his pattern, Riverstar is described as a silvery tabby tom with emerald-green eyes. I was gonna keep his pattern the same as before, but I played with it and ended up with a new pattern that I like a lot more.
Overall, I'm really happy with how he turned out!

Here’s my favorite girl from Riverstar’s Home, the lovely Night/Nightstar! :D
You can find the reverse side of her design here.
Anyway, back to the actual drawing. XD Nightstar has no physical description given other than her coloration, so I came up with my own for her. I went with a pretty average build for her, with a thick medium coat. She has some scars from her loner life before RiverClan.
For her pattern, Nightstar is described as a black-and-white she-cat with yellow eyes. I played around with her pattern a bit before being happy with it, but I'm fairly happy with the end result.
Overall, I'm fairly happy with how she turned out. I felt inspired to draw her right after reading RH, I absolutely loved her as a character, and I loved her friendship with Riverstar, it was defintiely one of the strongest parts of the book.

Here we have Frecklewish of SkyClan! Been meaning to redo her ref sheet for a while now.
For her physical description, Frecklewish is described as leggy. As before, I made her a purebred ocicat. No scars, since she didn't fight in any battles before becoming a medicine cat.
For her pattern, Frecklewish is described as a mottled light brown tabby with spotted legs and pale green eyes. Pattern and colors are basically the same as before with some tweaks, and with the addition of her newly-confirmed pale green eyes.
Overall, I'm really happy with how she turned out. :D

And here's the best kitty husband himself, the gloriously floofy Cloudtail! :D
For his physical description, Cloudtail is described as being a heavy tom with fluffy, thick, long fur. I headcanon that Cloudtail has the longest fur in the Clans, with Yellowfang and Daisy as close seconds. It makes more sense that way to me, as the Clan's reaction to him as a kit could then be less about his fur being white and more about it being ridiculously ridiculously long. While Daisy's long fur is more shaped and regal-looking, and Yellowfang's is heavy and dense like a persian, Cloudtail's is just long, long, long and kind of just hangs off him every which way. He's a big boy on top of that, so at a first glance in battle he's probably pretty intimidating.
For his pattern, Cloudtail is described as a white tom with blue eyes.
Overall, I'm really really happy with how he turned out, I think I finally got across what his fur looks like in my head in a satisfactory way. :D

Up next are the best lovebirds in ThunderClan! :D The recent release of A Thief in ThunderClan had me in the mood to draw these guys, so I went ahead and made fresh ref sheets for both of them. I decided to make three for Brightheart for each stage in her life - pre-injury, immediately post-injury, and several years post-injury when all of the fur that's going to grow back has grown back. Here we have the end result of Brightheart's healing process with her scars, some years after the initial injury!
You can find the reverse side of her design here.
During this stage in her life, Brightheart is described as a she-cat with an ear reduced to a few shreds, huge claw marks scored across her muzzle, fur torn away from the right side of her face, only a gouge mark where her eye should be, and thick, soft fur. I've always seen her as a shorthair, so I decided to interpret her as having thick short fur instead of thick long fur. She has a fairly average build, a bit on the lankier side but not by a ton, and she's pretty average in size. She now has scars from the rest of the battles in her life, besides the attack from the dogs.
I tried to stick to all of the descriptors when it came to her scars. Her ear should have a few shreds there instead of being totally gone, but I like to think that Cinderpelt eventually realized she couldn't save the remaining shreds and removed them, or else they were lost in later battles, or something. Some fur has grown back, but this is as much fur as she'll ever get on these scars, and what fur is there is scant and coarse and completely white from the shock of the injury regardless of what the color of the fur in that spot used to be. The areas where the worst damage occured is where the fur will never grow back, as Fireheart noted that she had areas where the fur would never grow back in A Dangerous Path.
For her pattern, Brightheart is described as a white she-cat with ginger patches along her back, a ginger tail, and one blue eye. Pattern and colors are basically the same as before with a few tweaks.
Overall, I'm really happy with how she turned out. :D

Up next is this lanky boy. ^^ As you can see, I went in a completely different direction with his design this time than I did before. But I'll get into that in a bit. Shame that such a cheery apprentice turned into such a grouch later in life, but I guess living with Onestar as your leader for so long will do that to ya. :P
Kestrelflight has no physical description given besieds his pattern, so I came up with my own for him. The more oriental WindClan look seemed to suit him best, so that's what I went with. I wonder if anyone ever noted at the Moonpool gatherings how similar he and Jayfeather look, though Jayfeather is a much more stunted-looking oriental cat. Poor little Harestar's now stuck between two lanky tall boys as his deputy and medicine cat. XD
For his pattern, Kestrelflight is described as a mottled gray tom with white splotches like kestrel feathers. The best way I could think of to abide by this description while also keeping him looking realistic was to give him the finnish mutation - a form of vitiligo that lightens the pelt except for on the points (face, ears, legs, tail) and gives the cat these white flecky spots throughout the pale part of the pelt. Male common kestrels in the UK have heads and tails that are a different shade from the body, so that part kinda fit as well. He has no confirmed eye color, so I gave him yellow eyes.
Overall, I'm not totally happy with the design, but it works.

Up next are some important WindClan cats! First up we got current leader Harestar. No strong opinions on him, didn't love his conduct in regards to the Sisters (but I could say the same of any Clan cat in that book besides a few) or how he gave in to the impostor's demands, but besides that he seems decent enough - he's no Onestar, at least, which is good enough in my book. :P
You can find the reverse side of his design here.
For his physical description, Harestar is described as a small, lithe tom with sleek fur. I decided to go non-oriental for this one, instead going for the more Tonkinese-like small lithe build I do for some of my WindClan cats. He was a Dark Forest trainee, lived through the Great Battle and battles against the stoats and the Kin, so he's a bit of a scarred-up mess. ^^ The throat scars are from Lionblaze taking one of his lives during the battle with the impostor, and the muzzle scars are from Sunrise "slashing viciously" at his muzzle during the final battle with the Sisters.
For his pattern, Harestar is described as a brown-and-white tom. I knew I wanted him to look at least a bit hare-like with his pattern. I saw this cat on Google and immediately knew that it was how I wanted Harestar's pattern to look, so I went ahead and heavily based his pattern on that cat. He has no canon eye color, so I went with a nice pale green like the cat in the photo.
Overall, I'm really really happy with how he turned out. :D

Sorry for the lack of posting, I fell way behind on updating this design blog, but I’m gonna get it caught up now. So here's some new ref sheets. First up is the Horseplace boy Smoky.
You can find see the reverse side of his design here.
For his physical description, Smoky is described as a big, fluffy, muscular tom. I've always pictured him as a pretty sturdy boy, but not completely compact. He's got a thicker coat now than before, with a sort of perpetual unkempt look to it.
For his pattern, Smoky is described as a gray-and-white tom. I made his pattern similar to the one he had before, but with some tweaks. He has no canon eye color, so I gave him green like his son and daughter.
Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this. ^^

I’m back with another MAP part, once again for the improvement MAP “Got Soul”. Here is the original MAP call: https://youtu.be/TvMS8Ea3bH0?si=BDgK3yYSdYQ1iMtP
The premise of the MAP is to redo or continue a piece of your own animation that is at least 6 months old. Having been on YouTube a long time, and having been more “quantity over quality” with my animation when I was younger, I had a good few videos to choose from. XD I ended up picking my “Ashfur’s Prelude 12/21” video from 2011 (yup, a 12 and a half year old video). I had to speed it up a bit to get it to fit the best of the new song, but I think it worked out well. :D You can watch the original Ashfur video here: https://youtu.be/SwLGLQjKrN4?si=SkdSU4pw1t2-sPud
I’m so, so happy with how this turned out. :D The part I had to animate/tween was so short that I could really put my all into making the few seconds of tweening I had look as good as possible. I’m especially happy with the lake scene - I usually have trouble with drawing water, but I think the water and the effect of the blood flowing out turned out super good. :D I’m so happy with the fur texture and shading, and especially the background in the lake scene. It looks so much better than last time I drew that scene! The ferns actually look kinda like ferns this time. XD And obviously I’m super happy with the improvement over 12.5 years of art. ^^ I wish I could show younger me how far our art has come.
The art for this part was drawn using the app ArtStudio (the legacy version), and the editing was done with the app LumaFusion. Both the art and editing were done on my iPad. :D
All character designs are made by me. You can find the reference sheets for all the characters on my account here: https://www.deviantart.com/jayie-the-hufflepuff/gallery

Last of the ref sheets, but not of the art (I've got one more in store for ya), it's the lovely Daisy! :D She's been needing an updated ref sheet for a while now, and I wanted to draw a cat with bright, soft colors like hers, so I went ahead and gave her a new ref sheet. ^^
For her physical description, she is described as a broad-backed she-cat with a fluffy tail and long, soft fur. I always pictured her as a rather large cat, not Tigerstar huge, but still quite large, and just a massive, massive amount of floof. I picture her as one of the fluffiest cats in the Clans, besides Cloudtail, who obviously takes the floof trophy. ^^ She's just so big and soft and floofy that kits will just snuggle her and sink against her floof. <3 She's still got that soft, well-groomed kittypet look, even after all of these seasons in ThunderClan, but every cat knows by now that she has the true heart of a Clan cat.
For her pattern, she is described as a cream she-cat with pale blue eyes. I used similar colors and a similar pattern to her old sheet, but with a few tweaks. I love how soft and pretty-looking she turned out. :D
Overall, I'm really happy with how she turned out. :D
