Dokanism - Surface Studio
In the last module of Surface studio, we were assigned to go find a local shop, and create an outfit based on the shop’s interiors. I went to a local supermarket in my neighborhood, where I took pictures from different angles of the store. After looking at the photo’s, I managed to choose what item to wear a costume for. I chose the little horse that is hanging on the ceiling of the store.
It was a challenge for me to create the outfit of the horse. I bought yellow pants and a shirt, and then used an old blue shirt to create the details of the horse’s body. I struggled when I was attempting to add the little details, such as the red markings, and black thread to create the swirly design on the shirt. I tried at first to cut from an old red shirt, but the fabric wasn’t working, so I painted it instead. The painting may have ruined it, however I managed to fix it with adding the black thread as an outline.
Eventually I wore the costume in the shop, and took the picture next to the horse, to resemble it. This part was extremely embarrassing for me, I was too shy to take the picture, but with some help from my friends, I managed to take the picture, and be done with it.
Overall it was an interesting project, I learnt many different things, from creating an outfit from scratch, to more technical skills using Lightroom on Adobe.

Project Class - Painting and Printmaking
In Painting and Printmaking we explored many interesting forms of painting and printmaking. During the first day we were assigned to create a book, and use printed shapes with hygiene to transfer images onto our books. This interested me a lot, as the shapes were distorted and interesting. The second day we went onto the printmaking section were we printed some flat objects with textures using printmaking ink, and a piece of transparent sheets. With the monotype roller machine we managed to create some interesting shapes, and with the second print we made a ghost print, which eventually mixed different colors together, and created interesting shapes. We also made cyanotype which was very interesting, we used a transparent paper to draw and add flat objects to printmake and make a photographic blueprint. We put our paper into a machine that eventually used heat to print. During the last day we stuck on our cyanotype covers, and painted onto our books to give them an interesting look.
Overall I enjoyed this project class, as it gave me a deeper perspective of what Painting and Printmaking has to offer. I learnt so much about the different printmaking machines, and how printing is done, such as the prints you find on t-shirts. I managed to learn about the major and get a tour of the department, which was helpful and interesting.

Masquerade Grand Prix - Time and Space Studio
During this module, Time and Space studio were combined together in order to create a live performance. Before starting this project we had went on a field trip to the inland sea in Sealine, where we went on sand dunes, ate some food, and had some fun in the beach. From this trip we were assigned to work on a group project and create a specific experience or moment from that trip. However the challenge was to create a live performance of the topic we chose and create actual props and costumes. Eventually my group decided to choose sand dunes.
When we first started we had around 7 weeks to work on this, the first three weeks were focused on creating the props, and costumes. My group and I struggled, we had so many different ideas, and were constantly changing our ideas. We decided on creating a narrative on a pepsi can enjoying the beach and suddenly gets crushed by the cars during the sand dunes.
After the ideas was chosen we created the props, I created the background, though we didn’t use it, as the background of the room we were performing in was black and the blue sky wouldn’t work with the scale of the room. We then made a car tire, a pepsi can costume, and sand dunes. We were struggling, since we were always re-evaluating our props and changing them at the last minute, however we eventually stuck to what had.
In the next three weeks, we had to perform our performance. We practiced on what we wanted to do. We mainly focused on the movement of the materials, such as the ocean. We chose what clothes to wear, and where to place our items and when to come in and place other objects during the live performance. We did have some anxiety, and wanted to work towards the objects and time limit we had.
Overall it was a great project, I managed to communicate with different people, and create a performance from scratch with all the props and objects created by us. And mostly I gained confidence when working in a group project, especially the fact that my ideas are great and are important for the group.

Still Life - Drawing Studio
During this module for Drawing studio, we were assigned to create a Still Life. At first we practiced with a few objects, and learnt about colors, and perspective in still life drawings. It was great for us to learn the basics of still life before applying them onto our final. We then all brought objects in, and created an interesting composition, and eventually chose what we wanted to draw. I struggled with this project quite a bit, since I am not that good with drawing in general, I didn't find this project that enjoying at first.
When I started I remembered being in panic, I am not the best at creating intricate details, and drawing perfect figures, I enjoy being messy whilst painting and drawing, as it gives me freedom. However after drawing on duralar paper, then tracing the objects we wanted to include, and creating an interesting collage effect still life, my perspective changed. The professor wanted us to experiment, and to have no restrictions to what we wanted to draw, this made me feel free, and I managed to draw something I am quite pleased with. This project overall gave me a newer perspective to still life, and drawing in general, since not all drawings have to be perfect and neat, they can be fun and unique at the same time.

Project Class - Graphic Design
In Graphic Design, we were assigned to create some symbols/pictograms of any chosen objects we like. We had to use Adobe Illustrator to create our symbols, and create six different signs. I decided to choose a watch, we then had to go to google and search that object, and then trace it in black and white on Adobe Illustrator. I enjoyed this project, it was very simple, and it was very basic. I enjoyed creating every pictogram, except I did struggle with the choice of my own, as I was running out of ideas. Overall I got a deeper sense into what Graphic Design has to offer.

Project Class - Fashion Design
In Fashion Design, we were assigned to create a pocket for objects that don't usually have pockets. I decided to create a built-in diabetic pocket, in which it can help patients have everything they need right on them. First we sketched a couple of ideas, and then thought of how we wanted them to look on the garment. I wanted mine to be on a pair of pants, that went along vertically, It was quite hard, as the pocket would be bulky, however I managed to think of some alternatives. After creating some sketches, we went onto choosing the fabric, and sowing the pocket together. I never sowed before, so it was quite something, I needed the help of my friends a couple of times. We then presented our final pocket, though I did not use actual diabetic objects and put them in the pocket to show if it’s bulky or not, and if it fits. I still managed to show the main purpose, which is a transportable, and easy to access pocket.

Project Class - Interior Design
In the Interior Design project class, we were assigned to create a chair for an unusual place to sit on. After looking at all the places I sit on, I realized the atrium stage, is one I always sit on. I usually sit here when I am with friends, it is a solid surface, as well as uncomfortable. So I sketched out some ideas, and thought to myself, maybe a slide on chair would be perfect. If I had a foldable chair, that was simple to slide onto any edge, then that would be perfect. So with foam board, we created what the seat would look like. Eventually my chair was simple, foldable, and transportable. Overall this project gave me an insight into interior design, as well as furniture design, as it showed how important the spaces we sit on and their effects on us.

Surface Urface - Surface Studio
In Surface studio, we were assigned to bring a natural object, in which we can scan and use for our final project. Before we began with our actual project, the professor had us experiment and draw anything we wanted, this helped us as it made us feel free to do what we want. In terms of the natural object, I got a lemon, and we had to scan ourselves using a special software, holding the object. After scanning the object, we used the vector file on Adobe Illustrator, in which we then had to draw over them anything we wanted, and eventually scan those drawings. With the scanned drawings, we then used those for our digital hybrids, which was a combination of the adobe illustrator tools, and our own drawing. We then created some digital texture pieces. After we experimented and created many of the digital and the hybrids, we had to choose just one of each. For our final display, we had to print the chosen two onto a glossy paper, and print our process on normal A4 paper. I did feel free to do what I wanted, yet I was afraid, as I wasn't used to that, especially when it is an important project. Overall this project helped me get into Adobe Illustrator even more, I managed to create interesting designs, and experiment with anything I wanted.

Kinetics of the Phantom Object - Space Studio
In Space studio, this module we were assigned to create a kinetic object based on the video we did for the Time studio, (Doing Easy). We had to extract the action we were doing in the video, and create a guideline of what our kinetic object would look like. The Gif below shows my mechanism. After we found our mechanism, we then headed to the wood shop, and started to sketch out ideas of how our object will move and look like. I wanted my mechanism to follow the gif, and make it look it is overlapping each other, like a shoe lace being tied. After working with wood shop, and cutting pieces of wood, I finally managed to create something. The wood shop for me was the most intense, so much was happening around me, it felt a little overwhelming. I learnt about new machines, for example a band saw, helps sand and create smooth edges of your wooden piece, also a table saw, in which creates cuts not too deep into the wood. After working in the wood shop, I assembled my pieces together, it took me a while trying to make the mechanism work, I did feel like giving up, but I managed, and my friend gave me some ideas. We then added vinyl stickers, which is meant to help enhance the mechanism and add an effect on the viewer. I wanted to make something with stripes, as my adidas shoes have 3 strips. Overall this project gave me an insight into how things work, and the different mechanisms, it also made me get over the fear of wood shops.

Scratch n’GIF - Time Studio
In Time studio, we were assigned to create a short video using emoji’s or Gifs. At first I was nervous, I had never used or made emoji’s be able to move, however after practicing with Adobe Premiere, the project was so much interesting. I decided to make a story on the beach, in which it was a sunny day, but then all of a sudden it started raining and the day was ruined. After thinking of the story, I started collecting emoji’s from the internet and using them in premiere, in which then I started making key frames that made the emoji’s move, and added sound effects to make the video complete. This was a very simply and creative project, but it required many technical skills.

Frottage - Drawing Studio
In this Module for drawing we worked on frottage, which is rubbing and rendering certain textures and objects. We were assigned to first find rubbings, then use them in a group to create one big final collaborative project piece. The first image attached is the final collaborative piece, in which two of my friends and I created, we wanted to create something with drapery, and fabric as well as grab the attention of the viewer by making it look unique and unusual. After the collaborative piece we were assigned to then create individual rubbings and render the piece to create something unique and 3D. I struggled a little bit, I had’t found that many great rubbings, which meant this limited my ability to create something with 3D design, so I decided I create my own rubbings and add some extra details that will make the viewer interested in the piece. After finishing this project I felt a relief, it was quite stressful and haunting because charcoal was everywhere and it included a lot of patience and creativity.

Doing Easy - Time Studio
In Time studio we were assigned to create a video of something we do everyday that we never really pay attention to. The project is called Doing Easy, and we had to think of everything we do everyday, whether it was brushing our teeth, eating breakfast, wearing contact lenses, and much more, eventually these simple actions, we had to create a video of them using different shots, from wide shots, to medium wide shots, to even closeups. After brainstorming some things I do everyday, I came up with the tying my shoes, or getting ready by wearing my shoes. We had to film our selves doing this actions, but also keep in mind the different shots we can use in order to present the thing we are doing. After creating the video, we then used premiere, I struggled a little with this, I almost lost the footage, but after asking the professor, she hoped me retrieve it back. In Premiere we edited parts we didn’t need of the video as well as layer up sound effects and sounds on each other. After finishing with presumer we had to then export and upload to Youtube, which then we presented our videos for critique in class. Overall this project might have been my favorite of all, I enjoyed the simplicity, yet the technicalities of it, it helped me explore how to create different shots, and edit and use different sounds on top of a video using a software I never used before.

Animated Figure - Drawing Studio
In Drawing Studio, we were assigned to create an animated figure from our own drawings of ourselves. We first had to create a video of ourselves walking forward to the camera, and another video of us walking in lateral. After that we used the software Premiere to create a loop, which then we had to print out 12 frontal and 12 lateral images of ourselves walking in a continuous motion. After printing we used the images to trace each one, and then copy each images 3 times. After that we began with our first set of 12 frontal and 12 lateral and we experimented with India Ink to create something interesting. We then had our second set with was a little more restrictive as we had to shade in where the light hit our clothes. And in the last set we were to shade the first 2 and last 2 images, and then do anything we wanted with the middle images, that way we can create a dramatic effect. I learnt so much in this project whether it was using Premiere or how gifs are made, and how to shade and create value to my drawings. I did struggle with shading properly, since I am not too good with drawing, I wasn’t really doing it right, which eventually the professor helped me, I also struggled with organizing myself and keeping all the sets not mixing with each other, but I managed myself. Overall it was a great projects as it explored both drawing and using technology to create a final Gif or piece.

Solids and Sections - Space Studio
In the second module of Space studio, we were assigned to create positive and negative space with shapes using gypsum or concrete. We explored what negative and positive spaces are, and how they are created. The first week was simple we experimented with plastic cups and bowls, using gypsum and created some positive and negative spaces. It wasn’t as hard as I thought, but the idea wasn’t getting in my head. For the second week, we were to experiment as well as use different objects and shapes that can create unique negative and positive spaces. I struggled during this week the most, I wan’t quite sure of what I wanted to use in terms of shapes, and how I wanted to penetrate the negative space thought the positive, which is why I was a little behind. However after getting some ideas from my classmates, I eventually made some progress. The third and last week, we were to create our final shapes, and present them by the end of the week. I had already made some smaller shapes, and wanted to create bigger shapes, so I decided to create a square with pieces of foam board stacked on top of each other, in order to create a 3D effect. By the end of the module, I realized how negative and positive space is formed and how it is around us. Overall I did struggle with getting ideas and working my way into creating something from scratch, but I was determined to try my best, and get some help from the professor if I needed.

Collage - Surface Studio
In the second module of Surface Studio, we were assigned to create a collage, in which we used photoshop to create the layout. When I first heard of this project, I thought this is going to be simple, however I struggled whilst working with photoshop. At first, I created different collages from magazines, which I cut out and stick in a random layout. I then transitioned with scanning items around me with different textures and fabrics and then using them to create my collage on photoshop. This project wasn’t that hard, however if required the skills of using photoshop, and creating a collage that is worth looking at. The first image posted here, is of my final collage, I didn’t do as well as I thought, because I was struggling with my ideas and how I wanted to create my collage. The other images attached are of my process, they are similar, but different in terms of the layout, however I struggled with getting an idea of how I wanted to present my collage. Overall it was a great project, and I have learned how to use photoshop in a deeper extent.

Q-Pin - Surface Studio
In Surface studio, we were assigned to create four different badges, or pins. These pins were of anything you liked and disliked, whether it was food, habits, fears, art, and so on. With this project I decided to combine my likes and dislikes together to create a contrasting effect, I made a pin with still life and abstract art together, and a fish lasagna, hot, spicy pasta, and loud people in an elevator. I did struggle with this project, in terms of ideas, I was fine, however to present the pins and create the pins, I suffered, I ended up making the pins wrongly, and had to come in again and use my friends help, also I almost ripped the paper when attaching the pins. Overall it was a great project, and up to scale in terms of ideas.

Mobile Sculpture - Space Studio
In Space studio, we were assigned to create a mobile sculpture, using metal wires, or fish wire. We learnt of different artists, which create mobile sculptures, as well as the properties of a mobile sculpture, we have to make the sculpture symmetrical in which all pieces are on same symmetry, and all had the same equilibrium. We had three weeks, in which the first week we used fish wire, it didn’t work out for me, as I couldn’t figure out the symmetry, second week, we used metal wire, and luckily it worked out perfectly, and I enjoyed it. And for the final I create a metal wire mobile sculpture, it was a struggle for the sculpture had to be 750 millimeters long, and 350 millimeters wide, and the professor advised me to make my cutouts more 3D, and I did so by cutting lines in the cutouts and making them pop out, to create the 3D effect. Overall I think this project made me realize that I need to cut better, and understand the mechanics of movement in things.
