well, it's pretty obvious to me, idk. maybe i'm wrong? first, he wrote multiple songs about a partner (spotlight / paranoid / trust issues) and talked about this in music-related interviews. second, remember when george gifted him the spiderman plushie for christmas 2022? he was messing with him for a while (even better if you rewatch the vod to remember their interaction) saying things like "i think you reaaally LIKE spiderman ;)" in a flirty way - which... is a really weird thing to say like that about a superhero franchise - and dream was hiding his face the whole time because of embarrassment trying to keep the convo going - but ofc gnf being gnf showed the plushie to the stream and you can see sapnap is amused as well by this bit. i think by reading their body language it's clear george was making fun of him for a crush of his, like something sus + spiderman-related happened with dream's gf and george and sapnap both know (sapnap is more careful though and doesn't say much in the clip, maybe bc he realizes he could accidentally expose dream). third, very recently when he made the reddit post about punz dream said "AT THIS TIME in my life i HAD very little experience with girls other than toxicity & abuse", which implies he's had better experiences after that - and the andi thing happened before december 2022, so. i think around nov-dec dream started hanging out with someone, obv i can't know if they're still together but it's undeniable he's been spending less time with snf, appearing less on stream and so on

regarding dream spending less time with snf, I thought it was bc of the grooming allegations against him... so it'd make sense why he wouldn't be on stream or even with them irl especially if his mental health took a dive

my take: they love each other way more now, but sapnap is still a bit worried when george says extreme stuff and gets annoyed when george shows immaturity. they both sometimes think dream can be a little cringe or too emotional, but they have a strong bond with him and would trust him with their life. also dream being >neurodivergent can get too caught up in projects sometimes and that puts a distance between him & snf. they have fun together but snf also thinks they don't have much in common with dream nowadays (also by spending most of their time together they're finding more common stuff between them instead) even tho he's a focal point and always will be. i think dream allegations and face reveal flop had a bit of an impact on snf's magnified idea of dream (cause they're both a bit immature still, let's be honest), but they still love him, support him, etc. also i think dream found a girlfriend around nov-dec (not andi) and that's another reason he was spending less time with them, together with getting back to practicing mc and all. sapnap kept inviting sylvee cause they're together ofc but brought gnf with them since him and sylvee can act like they're just friends. dream instead doesn't wanna risk it so he never appeared with his gf around and left it at that. also, hot take: dream is def hosting parties bc george wants a girlfriend but can't find it lool classic dream supporting & propelling george. obv not the only reason why, but ʅʕ•ᴥ•ʔʃ

actually, i had questions about the defenses i mentioned in my previous post, so i went to my law professor to clear it up. we had a quick discussion, and ultimately came to the same conclusion.

"moreover, caiti could argue an opinion defense in which it was HER opinion that george sexually assaulted her because she considered what his actions were to be sexual." I said this in my earlier post, but I forgot to mention one thing: that it had to be REASONABLE.

I asked him what he thought an he said that if this hypothetical case was brought to the court, the jury would assume that the sexual assault implied would have been much more severe than what caiti is saying. and just because caiti assumes that what george did was sexual assault, it may not be a reasonable assumption to begin with according to others.

in this case, the opinion defense would fall.

with the substantial truth defense, it has to be true. meaning that if she alluded to events that did not factually occur, than this defense will also fall. i know that in the beginning she purposefully left out a lot of important details that we know now. with her latest twitter post, she now agreed with george's recollection of events.

however, her first statement was already damaging enough to george (loss of friends, connections, reputation, business opportunities). and although the gist of it was true, many of the important details were left out and/or false. so, this defense will also fall.

so now, if george were to bring a defamation case against caiti, my professor and I agreed that caiti would most likely lose. that's only IF the case gets passed to the court. i highly doubt george would sue just because the public opinion of him would sour immensely.

defamation is a false communication that tends to lower the plaintiff's (in this case, the plaintiff is George) esteem in the eyes of others. there are two types of defamation: slander (oral) and libel (written).

now, caiti did a stream discussing the situation as well as wrote a post, so george could go ahead with both types.

next, certain elements cover a defamation case in which all must be met:

a) the defendant (caiti) published a false statement of fact

b) the statement defamed P

the statement must be false AND have been intended to injure P's reputation

c) D acted with the requisite degree of fault regarding the truth of the statement

because george is a public figure, caiti must have shown malice or in other words, knew that it was false or disregarded the possibility that it could be false

d) defamation per se

caiti accusing george of sexual assault is harmful to his reputation if it is false. in this case, there is no requirement to show proof that it was harmful unlike in defamation per quod cases

under all of these elements, it seems like george has an actual case that he can pursue if he can prove that caiti presented a false statement of facts with the intent to damage his reputation and his career.

however, there are some defenses to defamation cases. in this case, the most obvious defense would be truth or the "substantial truth". this means that if there is enough truth in their statement, then caiti would have a defense against defamation and could not be sued.

moreover, caiti could argue an opinion defense in which it was HER opinion that george sexually assaulted her because she considered what his actions were to be sexual. this would also turn the tides to her side, in which she could not be sued.

so, no matter if what caiti said was mostly false and was very damaging to george's reputation, i don't believe that he has a strong enough case to proceed with a defamation suit against caiti
