I am currently a student attending Full Sail University in Winter Park FL. I am pursuing my Masters in Entertainment & Business. I received my BA in Web Development & Design in 2016 at Full Sail as well. I hope to make an impact in the web industry one way or another. After graduation I decided to further my education to better prepare myself for the industry. I do not set low standards for my work or myself. I believe that with a deeper understanding of management that that will help me become a better leader. The Entertainment industry is very large and with web development being one of the platforms that are used in promoting it is imperative to have a deep understanding on how the industry works as a whole. I plan on not limiting myself to just web development or design. The skill of being able to take on any project and bring new innovative ideas is very valuable. I also need to learn how to work with clients and be more personable because every company needs front men who set up deals and contracts. Meshing multiple skills into a persona that can one be informative and legally correct is a skill I believe is highly valued. With my knowledge of the web industry and the knowledge I will obtain through my new degree I will only improve my options for employment. You can never be over educated. As the saying goes knowledge is power but that is in the personal since I believe that knowledge is valuable. The key is finding the knowledge that is needed in your particular field that you one have a passion for and two strive to obtain and then reflect into your career. In addition to leading projects I will be an asset to a team as well. Fallow me to support and join me in my journey into the web industry. Points of contact: https://www.facebook.com/james.c.roll.9

Business Plan Development
Through this month of Business Plan Development, I was able to take the thoughts and process of my digital asset company and forge a business plan. We covered areas such as competition analysis, market analysis, forecasting and much more. Trying to transform my business plan into a more traditional formatted business plan was hard. With my company going to be hosted online as a decentralized platform for stock image exchanging it was difficult to do the financials and expense forecasting. A normal what some may call typical company may have more set expenses, and it is very useful to see them laid out to help comprehend and know how much funding the company will need prior to launch. The obtaining of funding it the most important aspect when launching a new company. If the amount borrowed does not meet the needs of the company the company will fail and all is lost. The biggest hardship through the month was not the course or assignments it was the hurricane. Full Sail is located in Florida and in the heart of this months course Irma decided to visit. This shut down the school for multiple days and I personally lost power for 9 days. Even after the power was back on I had internet issues resulting in a hardship when it comes to the time to complete classwork. If I didn’t have a four-year-old and be a single parent this would have been much less of a burden. Overall I look forward to taking what I have learned and developed this month into next months course and put the finishing touches in order to submit the platform to the masses in an online venture capital funding platform geared towards the cryptocurrency space.

Advanced Entertainment Law
Through this month of Advanced Entertainment Law, I have learned so much through my adventure throughout the month. This was my second time taking this course by choice and that helped concrete the concepts and real life use cases in my field. Some of the projects I worked on throughout the month included completing legal trademark documents, analyzing past cases into a presentation and an in depth look into legal liabilities. I have a project of my own underway and the legal aspects that concern my endeavor are plentiful and daunting while they should not be taken lightly. I look forward to taking the key concepts I have learned in this month and weaving them into my whitepaper. I will admit I have been distracted by my obsession in the crypto space evolution. The information I have learned directly affects this space with the low current regulations in the space. By understanding the purpose behind the laws protecting the creatives of the world helps me see the potential future changes in my target industry. I do not regret taking this month a second time and I believe if I took it a third time I would even have more take aways. If I could improve the course material for this month I would have enjoyed each student giving a pitch of their individual final project and then using the classes individual perspectives directing potential issues and weak points. With a diverse group every month this would help keep the course interesting and give individual perspective’s to help further growth in our business plans. With my web background I could poke holes into the concepts and in turn, hope that some of the other students could help me fill my potential shortcomings. The value of multiple viewpoints is very valuable. When launching a business web based or other finding the issues legal or not prior to launch can directly impact the longevity and monetary potential. By coming together to brainstorm and help each other fortify our concepts we can discuss the legal liabilities and potential repercussions that concern multiple areas in this vast industry. I personally think that this group think and solution discussion could take place of the make your case presentation. Although going through the court documents was interesting we are not qualified to give legal counsel or should attempt to represent ourselves in a court setting. Learning about the taco bell dog like stated earlier was interesting, but when I think if one of my peers could highlight a potential flaw in my business concept that then I could remedy and research could be the difference of a successful launch or a financial disaster. To make this potential course change even more dynamic we could as a group discuss and write on the whiteboard the top 3-5 potential legal weaknesses of each individuals business concepts that they would need to be researched. With the findings from researching the individual's potential weaknesses, they would find similar cases relating the issues and how they plan on fixing the potential concept weaknesses. The only issue with this change would be that we could potentially not touch an area the course currently covers. But then again we could open and discover areas overlooked as well. All in all the month was jam packed with great takeaways and directed by Cassi Wallard who is a paginate and very knowledgeable resource when it comes to entertainment law. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of valuable content and concepts throughout the month.

Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution
Through this month of Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution, I have learned information focusing on traditional as well as digital publishing/ distribution techniques. We discussed what is expected in the industry and the best ways to go about breaking into the industry and having success. Some of the topics we went over included the creation of documents such as press kits, proposals and other documents for self-promotion. We went in depth on the change in technology and its effects on the industry as a whole. I personally have done a substantial amount of research in this area and the class went over a lot of the big take aways I had found as well as some valuable new information. We had a lot of group discussions and helped each other have a deeper understanding of the evolution and expectations that the industry expects from graduates in our field. The course was laid out well and had a nice progression into the subject and topics. The most valuable take away for me was the creation of the drafted documents that I may one day implement into my business ventures. I have had some issues relating to some past classes and being frustrated that they did not bring enough new and valuable information to help grow my understanding of what is to come. This class, on the other hand, took a new approach and looked at things other than the obvious and even peered into the feature of the industry. With the evolution of tech and the need for new ideas and innovations expected by the wave of graduates, this is, in my opinion, the most valuable focus of time I have yet to have in this degree program. Allowing us to research and bring worth the future or at least the attempts at the feature to each other was enjoyable and exciting. All in all, I had fun exploring the course material and look forward to next months challenges.

Product and Artist Management
Through this month of Product and Artist Management, I have learned a plethora of useful information about the current best practices when it comes to the entertainment industry. Throughout the month we referenced two textbooks on Safari including Artist Management for the Music Business, 3rd Ed. (or latest edition) by Paul Allen and Entrepreneurial Strategic Management by Ken R. Blawatt. The main focus of the first half of the month was going over the artist management side of the industry. We researched current and past professionals with the goal of gaining good and poor practices we as a class could take away and implement later on in our careers. I enjoyed learning about royalties and the effect that taking this aspect of the industry and make or break you in the short run and especially the long run.The second half of the month focused on the product side of management. We took a deeper look into some of the most respectable brands and learned why and how they found their success. Some of the companies included Disney and Coke. We had two presentations during this month which is more than I have ever had during a class at Full Sail and this allowed me to further practice my public speaking which is one of my weak points. In addition to all of the intended material expected to be learned through the month, I was able to learn that coupons are not products but rather a marketing strategy and should not be included into a product line. After having a difficult time comprehending this and trying to incorporate my personal business project with the course I chose to shy away from my project and think of a new scenario. I came up with a very unique and interesting way to implement the concept of pet rocks into a business that had great margins and even better potential. All in all, I had fun exploring the course material and look forward to next months challenges.

Finishing NDM
During this class Negotiation and Deal-Making with Elizabeth Counsman I learned a lot of new techniques to seal the deal with potential clients or company representatives. I will take away the strategies learned throughout the month and attempt to implement them into my deals and contracts in the proper way. Some of the things I learned consist of different communication styles and how to deal with every person individually and be ready to adapt depending on the individual. I learned how to separate the person from the problem. How implementing objective criteria so that negotiations end with my key points being addressed. How to recognize the position of the opposing party so that I can maneuver lightly around and near they’re needs and also how to have my interests noticed as well. I now know what game theory is and the purpose. I understand the importance of always having a BATNA and to keep in mind that in every negotiation the opposing party probably has one as well and finding out what there BATNA is can lead to a much easier and more beneficial outcome. We did a lot of mock negotiations that tested my patience with a rushed simulated version of a negotiation. The reality is that negotiations take months and at times years and in the simulated negotiations we ran through them in about an hour leaving a lot of unknowns and pressure to deal with the other student involved to further understand the whole idea behind negotiating. I found the class to not only be interesting and fun but very bifacial and I look forward to using the information and content I learned throughout the month in my feature in devours. The only thing I wish I could have done is picking my own final negotiation to do my APA paper on. Having the ability to choose a negotiation that I had more interest in would have been in my opinion better.

lynda course overview
I chose to take the Facebook Advertising Fundamentals course because I believe that Facebook is going to be the go to and end up replacing the typical search engines eventually. The Internet is evolving and to take a web giant as large as Facebook and place limitations on them would be foolish to say the least.
I was not aware of the promote page option It a great option but I must say I think it seems like the lazy way of promoting. The other issue is that it promotes credibility but if the people are not past clients how much does that affect the trust factor for potential clients. Another take away was the information on images about using stalk photos is a poor decision because it can be the same images as other adds and immediately turn off potential clients and even look like spam. The last take away I will hold onto while performing later Facebook Advertising is tweaks are pivotal in the performance of the ads. Seems obvious but is a super easy thing to overlook. Just because I may have an ad performing well even better then I thought it would I should always be watching and making adjustments to optimize the effectiveness of the ad.
I plan to apply these and the other learned techniques in my personal sites in the near feature. I am building a personal website to advertise myself and promote business and on completion of the basic site I will be running a ad campaign I am now more comfortable and knowledgeable about how the Facebook ad system works. I also have some side projects that I am messing around with and a rebuild of my father’s company site I’m excited to go over his current campaign and make adjustments after proving these techniques in a personal trial.

Entertainment Business Finance
This month I attended the class Entertainment Business Finance. During the month long class we discussed basic accounting, financial statements, time value of money, capital budgeting, start-up costs, money markets, venture capital, proforma statements, and so much more. The amount of terms was a bit overwhelming and a lot to digest. Prior to attending the first day of this month I was under the assumption it would be more math and less terms. I was surprised to find out that wasn’t the case and now that the month has come and passed I am thankful for the wealth of terms learned. I understand the practical use of most the terms and have a much better understanding of what is needed to run a company. I have also learned a lot of useful investment terms I plan on using that information to diversify my personal investment portfolio when I have the capital to do so. In addition to the knowledge I have some physical take always such as a resume and references for later use and further development into what I will one day present to potential employers. I have taken a deeper look into my business plans for this degree and adjusted a lot. I have been doing a lot of self research about internet marketing because of this month focusing on money it has motivated me to build a affiliation based website on my free time and pursue the financial capital needed to launch investments and start having money work for me. I have heard of the term of having money work for you but was not sure on the exact methods behind the strategy. The class documents where well thought out and presented on FSO in a professional way and the instructor Christopher Woodward was very knowledgeable and brought a since of humor to the class that helped us stay interested in the vast slides and information. Holding the attention of a class that starts at 9am is no easy task especially a finance-based class. Looking forward to building on what I learned this month and maybe sitting in on a class or two on a later date to refresh my knowledge.

This month I attended the class business storytelling and brand development. During the month long class we discussed things such as personal branding, trademarks, brand identity, creating brand strategy and working on a digital portfolio. The class was packed with very useful information that I plan on using in the continued development of my personal brand WebMonetizers.com. Prior to this month I had never purchased my own domain and this class gave me the opportunity and the direction to do just that. My first business idea simply involved a web development business. The initial business idea I came up with was called mywebegg.com and after week one and a lot of research I decided that simply making a web company was one not fun and two not a true representation of my potential interests. I came up with the idea that I would rather be an advisor and brand coordinator more then actually doing a lot of the grunt work that is involved in starting up a web company. WebMonetizers was my answer to finding my future web identity. The goal of the company would be to educate myself on the ways of monetizing in the current web industry. While I learned of new ways such as domain parking, logo selling sites, and the hardships that came with getting the perfect domain it became clear that these are services that can be sold. Much like an attorney has a consultation fee I plan on doing just that consulting. Im not a lawyer but as my knowledge grows in the web opportunities and I find success I would then be able to help other companies grow their revenue streams. I asked myself what does every business owner need or feel like they do atlas. The answer is revenue and with more revenue allows growth and the all powerful success stories. Im very excited about how I will translate what I have learned from this month into the upcoming months. I will be able to expand on the idea and test the techniques I'm developing now.

At first I thought that this course would be more about working in teams. The course ended up being much more. We dove into I project planning process where we could really choose any idea and run with it. Developing the project and gaining a better understanding of what is needed as a leader and other roles within a team environment. I also learned different tools and processes that would help me in feature projects. The main tool I plan on using is scrum, because it makes a lot of sense and is a more structured way of planning then what I previously used. Having one board that lays the tasks of a project so that everyone can come together and understand exactly what is expected is very important in my opinion. It will help organize my feature projects and keep me on track when it comes to time, I had never really used excel in my undergrad and enjoyed learning how it works and putting together a budget sheet in order to track costs and profits. Making it reusable for the most part was key in allowing me to make the best use of my time. As a web developer If I start taking on personal projects I now have a great tool in the process of explaining how the clients money will be used. I was a bit confused at the beginning of the month on exactly what was expected this month. The “Project” was explained as if we should have already had an idea prior to the start of the month. The game half of the class seemed to have one in the works but the business and entertainment side had a hard time understanding what was expected. I think that if there was a submission for approval detailing a little more information on expectations, or a one on one with the professor to go over our project idea would reduce if not eliminate that haze. It could be as simple as a one minute sit down each just to check if the student is on track and understands.

Kristina Bartošová use of animations that remind me of a collage is super inspiring. It shows you can take childhood memories and use them as triggers to inspire guests or set the mood of any site.
