This is going to be hella spotty, but i wanted to throw some stuff down and get this party started!
(If someone has a more organized way to talk about these stories, please proceed! Lucia was a helluva read for our first forays back into discussion.)
A) visibility/invisibility
How often does the invisible body itself perform erasure? As a cleaning woman erases dust. Or as she “lifts” items unneeded by the client, but valued elsewhere. Is this erasure? or a sort of exchange? These bodies preferred invisible, and to make the debris of our own bodies invisible, do they keep some sort cycle running? That reminds me of Carpe Diem. Ophelia, the addendant, who keeps referring to “The Change,” and the literal coin disaster (107).
Temps Perdu: “what if our bodies were transparent, like a washing machine window? How wondrous to watch ourselves” (99).
Then there’s the mirror to make visible again:

In Let Me See You Smile, Jesse and Maggie are “like negatives of each other.”
B) time and time compression
the warp and weft of kentsheereve throughout her life.
“I was engulfed with the memory of love, no with love itself.
“I didnt even react. Poor fool had no idea of the passion that had just occurred between me and 4420, Bed Two” (102).
the “what ifs” in Homing. Feels like finding wormholes in time. Exploring all the corners, possibilities, as a way to love the past/self? Acceptance of inevitability seems reassuring, though. Not a trick of the brain. Regardless of how time bends, she ends up here, like this.
