OMFG the amazing @eldar-of-zemlya did an illustration of the final scene of my fanfic "Uncovered" in which Chris and Una have to go undercover on a mission to bust a ring of sex slavers and Una has to pose as Chris' slave. That leaves traces and they need to heal from that.

The artwork leaves me stunned and I'm so glad for it. I wish you always good chocolate for that!

Gracefully she moved over, the white robe she was wearing flowing around her, always in movement. And when she sat down on my bed, next to me I had the urge to touch her, to find out that she was real and tangible and not a figment of my imagination.

And that was also when I realized that she was wearing nothing underneath that flimsy robe of hers. And that she hadn’t removed those piercings yet.

I put my hand on her cheek, making her face me and she put hers above mine, shivering.

“Chris, I can’t go on like this,” she whispered. I couldn’t either. But how could we proceed after all that had happened.

“I know that you’re avoiding me and I want to know what I did wrong?”

Nothing. You did nothing wrong!

Tears collected in my eyes and the lump in my throat made it impossible for me to say anything that was not a pathetic croak. And so I tried to communicate wordlessly. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her closer to me, embracing her in a hug. And I started kissing her hair. It was an instinct, the urge to protect her, but not what her Captain or friend should do. We both had some healing to do. And the journey would probably be long and arduous, but at least we had each other.

She clung onto me like she was drowning and maybe she was silently sobbing. But I didn’t know. I couldn’t see. I just felt the rhythmic ebbing and flowing of her body.

We remained like this for a very long time. And I was just content to hold her, to be there for her, to provide her some sense of closeness after all she had been through.

“You were amazing. And you did nothing wrong,” I told her, as soon as I could talk again. “I don’t believe I would be alive if it hadn’t been for your remarkable strength and dedication.”

“I only did what I had to…” she murmured. “But why did you then…”

“...avoid you?” I finished the sentence for her. “Because I felt so guilty. I couldn’t face you until I had sorted out my feelings.”

Reading her unofficial report about what had transpired between her and Chevalier had been so harrowing. My heart had broken for her all over again. And even though I knew the truth now I didn’t know if I would forward it. I would heed Una’s wishes in that regard.

“But…”

“...that doesn’t make sense? Yeah, it doesn’t. I’m sorry, Una.” I kissed her hair again and then her cheek, trying to kiss her tears away.

She accepted my silent apology, holding me tight as well, and then she turned her head so that my next kiss landed on her mouth. Before I could react or apologize she had put her arms around my neck and pulled me into that kiss. We had never kissed like that before during the mission. But for the first time I got the feeling she wasn’t holding back. This kiss contained everything Una had to give, a wordless offering of affection. And I kissed her back with the same intensity and need, because this was what I had been thinking about so often ever since that mission started. She pushed me into the pillows without breaking the kiss, straddling me, bowing down and ravishing me with her mouth. And I was in awe that she possessed so much energy and life force. And that it was me she had chosen.

When she finally released me, she panted.

“Chris. I don’t know what you want from me in the future, but I need to tell you. I’m yours. Irrevocably and unchanging. And if you want me, you can have me. Forever.”

The amazing @eldar-of-zemlya has brought another of my stories to life. And please for the love of God, look at the picture in full view for complete enjoyment! It's from my story The Golden King and His Dark Queen, chapter 5: "Ripples on a Lake".

Slowly, almost indulgently Una moved her hips, her eyes closed, her lips parted and Chris deep inside her while she straddled him, her chest touching his, her chin resting on his shoulder while his arms wrapped her tight. They didn’t have to do this any longer now that she was with child, but she realized that she still wanted – no, needed – to feel this connection with him from time to time. Ever since her belly had started swelling Chris had insisted that he would not lie down on her anymore, but rather preferred holding her like this. And Una had agreed. Doing this helped with her cramps and their agreement was that she would approach him if she wanted to sleep with him, because she was the one who carried the child. Tonight she wanted and needed to feel him all around her. It was one of her moody nights, where she felt melancholic. So it felt good to be held. Chris let her set the rhythm and she took her time, wanting to savor it as long as possible. “Chris?” she mumbled into his shoulder.  “Yes?” He turned his head and kissed her cheek. “I need to tell you something. It probably doesn’t matter anymore, but I still feel you deserve it.”

The amazingly talented @eldar-of-zemlya has illustrated another scene from one of my fics, this time Comfort Zone in which Chris and Una are friends with benefits throughout the years until they can finally admit their feelings.

He kissed her again. “I know. We both have so much to tell each other, to untangle that web of feelings and awkwardness that we have created to protect each other. And we will. We will manage.” He came closer, very close to her ear. “But forgive me, if right now I just want to enjoy you and your company. You put on these amazingly sexy clothes, and I know what you’re wearing underneath and that just… drives me a bit crazy.” Una let out a relieved laugh and Chris felt so emboldened that he lifted her up on the kitchen counter in one fell swoop. Una squealed at the sudden movement but then she accepted her new seat. She was still the same height as him. Chris ran his hands over her legs and her thighs, moving them under the skirt of her dress, stopping short of her core, while looking intently into her eyes. Una opened her legs for him and pulled him closer by his collar so that he almost stumbled into her. She caught them both by putting a hand behind her, wrapping her legs around his waist to hold him in place. Chris found himself drawn to her neck, nibbling along her carotid, licking her jaw and Una let out small whimpers. “Dinner,” he growled. “You will be my dinner tonight.” “Yes,” Una moaned. “This time, I will make love to you,” he whispered in her ear, licking and nibbling it. “Not just have sex.” Una let out a suffocated sound. And then she put her hands on both sides of his head to make him look at her. “Every time we slept together I made love to you,” she told him and there was such an earnestness and openness in her gaze that Chris suddenly felt very strange.

It's my 9 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳

I was offline all day yesterday, so I didn't catch this news until last night. It was a punch to the gut that capped off what was already a lousy day.

I'm beyond grateful for the show and the joy it's brought to my life, yet gutted to know it will be ending (even woke up in tears this morning). Yet as some have pointed out, SNW's been given more grace than Discovery, Lower Decks, and Prodigy got. It's good to know this was always the plan, and that the creatives have plenty of time to give the show a proper end.

I'm disappointed in the timing of this announcement, though. I think Paramount could've sat on this for a few more months, but it's possible they were spurred by leaks (and not for the first time). (I'm not excusing Paramount, mind you. I still wish Star Trek had a better home.)

Another disappointment is that SNW will end after 46 episodes - even less than the runs for Discovery and Lower Decks. While I love (and been grateful for) this run of Star Trek, I hate this trend of 10 episode seasons. Sure, we get clunker episodes with 20+ episode seasons, but we also have story and character development. I can only hope that a lot of it gets packed into these upcoming three seasons of SNW, because I feel like we barely know this crew.

I'm sure I'll feel differently as the premiere gets closer, but at the moment, my excitement for Season 3's been dampened.

As sad as I am right now, I'm grateful to have three more seasons of SNW to look forward to, along with Starfleet Academy and Tawny Newsome's comedy show. Star Trek lives on, but I worry about the state of it. If we're heading into another Trek void, at least we have more episodes to enjoy and cherish.
