I can talk all day about neuroscience and historical developments in professional hockey, but I think maybe first we should all buckle up and go over the whole Germany situation—WAIT DON'T PUT THAT GLOWING PAINTBRUSH IN YOUR MOUTH"

honestly I'm pretty fucked up over none of my friends having any idea who this is, because that means at some point I stopped evangelizing his work to everyone I know, and that feels like a huge failure on my part. what Mike Smith is to my love of hockey, Jesse Hajicek is to my love of queer speculative fiction—he's the spark, the draw, the one that made me go YES THIS. it feels impossible that no one I know is familiar with him.

did any of my old LiveJournal friends read The God Eaters or Metanoia back when I was screeching about them nonstop in 2005? @metaphortunate @kaberett @crazybutsound? shit I hardly even follow anyone I knew back then, this is sad on multiple levels :/

just heard that Jesse Hajicek died and I'm. I can't.

I don't have words yet. I will, because Ava was the only person who ever knew what Jesse's work meant to me, and she could have written the tribute he deserves for both of us, but. I'm just gonna have to do my best.

but not yet. right now I'm gonna just. try to breathe.

did anyone else grow up with Jesse's work? I want to grieve his loss with Ava so, so badly, but I have to grieve for both of them instead, and I am feeling. very alone.

can anyone suggest tips on how to find (or just link me to) tumblr and/or bsky accounts that post about the Montreal Canadiens or about hockey in general in both English and French? I KNOW they must exist, I used to see tweets repeated in both languages all the time on hockey twitter back in 2013, but my tolerance for sifting through search results is very low these days with all the AI bloat and tumblr's shitty search function is getting me nowhere :/
