My Long Distance Bicycle Trip of Tagaytay city and Batangas
Tumblr media
John F. Kennedy once said "Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of riding a bike.". Cycling or Bike riding is one of the most fun outdoor activities. It is the perfect "me-time" and can also be one of the best bonding experience with your friends of family. For me, cycling is my escape to reality whenever life is frustrating. In this post, I'm going to share one of my most memorable bicycle ride. This happened during my 8th grade on November 9, 2019.
Ride-Out
I woke up at 4 am and had a breakfast of pandesal and 1 cup of milk. Me and my brother left our house at 5:30 am and waited for our friends in our meet-up place 7-eleven Paliparan II. At 6:15 am, our friends have arrived and we left for Silang, Cavite. I'm not feeling well during in the early stages of this ride because I wasn't able to sleep. Whenever I feel excited about something I can't sleep but that excitement pushed me and boosted me during the whole trip. We're from Dasmariñas, Cavite and Silang is just about 30-40 mins away from us but since our pace is for "chill ride" it took us 35 mins to get there.
First Stop:
Silang, Cavite
At about 7 am , we stopped for a while at the statue of General Vito Belarmino to take a picture and also to rest for a bit at a nearby 7-eleven. 7-eleven branches are very important to cyclists. This is where we refresh ourselves whenever it's getting tiresome and needed a break. Whether it's drinking sports drinks like Gatorade and taking booster drinks or eating chocolates to replenish our energy. After about 15 minutes of break time, we left.

The Climb
Tumblr media
It was around 7:10 am when we enter the most thrilling section of the trip. Silang is approximately 12 km away from Tagaytay City. When you enter Silang, you should be ready since this is where the real fun and challenge begins. It's nothing but an uphill. You will encounter many intense steep climb on your way to Tagaytay. This place will make you feel weak and tired. It will make you rethink about the decisions you have made in your life and why did you even dare to go there at the first place. It can also be exciting and thrilling if you're that type of person like me who enjoy challenges. I really love the climbing sections of long rides even though it's the most trouble-some for others since it challenges you to give your best and when you finally finished climbing it feels very worth it. It was very intense along with the fact I was sleepless. It left my heart beating very fast. After about an hour of steep climbs and uphills that feels like an eternity we finally saw the "Welcome to Tagaytay" arch which means we're near our second stop over, Tagaytay Rotunda.
2nd Stop:
Tagaytay, Cavite
We arrived at Tagaytay, Cavite at about 8:20 am. Again, we stopped at a nearby 7-eleven to rest and refresh. I can't express it in words how magnificent Tagaytay City especially getting there via bicycle. It is one of the most visited locations by cyclist for a reason. Once we arrived there it was quite relaxing looking back at the uphills we went through and enjoying the view of Taal Volcano and nearby places. It's the beauty of cycling. It thought me that every uphill is worth it and rewarding just like in life.

Unfortunately some of the pictures we took during this trip were deleted however those precious memories were still embedded in my heart. After about 20 minutes of rest we went for Batangas. Our next stop over was approximately 10 km away from Rotunda but it's not that challenging compared to Silang because most of the steep climbs of this trip are from Silang. It took us about 40 minutes to get there.
Welcome to Batangas
Tumblr media
We arrived here at 9:30 am. We stopped to take a picture and have a buko juice break. At this point, I'm feeling very nervous since the last time I was here I was completely overwhelmed. Two months prior to this, Me and my brother, along with his friends also went here. Out of all my experiences as a cyclist, I can say that it's probably the most difficult cycling I've ever had. That's why this trip is very important to me because it's a chance to redeem myself and test the results of my two months of training. After that short break, we left for our main destination. It was a breeze downhill. Although, there is still some parts where it may be a downhill but if feels like a climb. After 20 mins of steady downhill, we finally reached our destination.
Fantasy World
Tumblr media
We finally arrived at our main destination, Fantasy World at Laurel, Batangas. I felt very ecstatic. Sure, it was very tiring to get here but I'm finally here. I remember the last time I was here, it made me felt hopeless and tired but this time it's the opposite. Looking at the beautiful castle of the unfinished theme park is very fulfilling and relaxing. It really made me love cycling and life as a whole.

Going Home
We ate lomi Batangas from a nearby restaurant and it was the best lomi I've ever had. After eating and resting for 45 minutes, we finally decided to leave and go home. Even though I should have been tired at that point, for some reason, I feel energized more than ever. It was the most awaited part for me because as I said earlier the last time I climbed back from Batangas to Tagaytay was a frustrating experience. During that time we went farther and reached Taal Basilica and we also didn't anticipate that it would be that difficult but this time I know what to expect. As expected it was very challenging and steep but that excitement and drive pushed me and I did better than last time where I literally cried and wanted to use the "pinagbabawal na technique" for cyclists which is to commute instead of riding out bike. It may have been an almost an hour of steep climbs and uphills but it didn't bother me. After about 50 minutes we stopped for our last stop, which is the Twin Lakes Hotel and of course we went at to a nearby 7-eleven again and admire the fascinating view of Taal and Tagaytay.
Tumblr media
At around 12:30 we continue our ride back to home. It was almost downhill during the whole trip. For every uphill we climbed earlier was a downhill for us to enjoy. I think we arrived at home around 2:10. Let's always remember that in cycling, pain is temporary but the memories and sense of pride we experience from such accomplishments are forever.
