Special Story #1: Aureve & Diego

Did you know... that Belle Automata's having a Kickstarter?

We're raising funds for Chronicles 2 and 3. Here's a short story about Diego, one of the love interests of Chronicle 2.

For the first time in a long time, Diego feels... lonely. He stares at the ceiling of his bedroom and wonders on the empty space beside him, not for the first time.

It's not necessary for them to charge together and he told her that but... Aureve had insisted.

"You've been alone for so long, Diego. I won't let you be alone anymore." If he shuts his eyes, he can remember her quiet words as she touched his hand with light, kind fingers.

"It's just a few days, Diego. I'll be back at House Price before you know it."

"Of course you will. I'll see you when you return." He remembers the way he looked at her, smiling as he always did but she saw through him again. She always saw through his smiles.

His mind drifts backwards to the last day before her trip...

"Hm?" Aureve's eyebrows quirk upwards. "What is it?" He sits on their shared charging station, saying nothing as he helps her pack. Diego feigns surprise.

"Did I say something?"

"No-no, it's just... you've been quiet all day. When you help me like this, I like it, of course, but I can't help but worry that I'm a burden to you."

He smiles. "Of course not! It's my pleasure to... to..." He trails off at her angry expression. "Have I said something wrong?"

She shakes her head. "Not wrong exactly. Not if that's how you really feel." She pierces him with a honest gaze. "Is it?" He stares at her, then hands his head, his beautiful curls falling into his face as he holds his face in his palms.

She stands between his long lanky legs to pull his hands away, their fingers intertwining. Slowly she lowers her face to his, the meeting of their lips as gentle as powdered snow drifting to the forested ground. He leans into her touch. He feels like exposed live wire but she handles his heart so carefully that he never feels as though he'll burn up.

"I don't want you to go. What if I forget you?" And to his surprise... There is no exasperation in her gaze. Instead she smiles back at him, so warm, so accepting of even these selfish, childish sides of him. Aureve approaches him slowly, as though afraid of scaring him away.

She stands between his long lanky legs to pull his hands away, their fingers intertwining. Slowly she lowers her face to his, the meeting of their lips as gentle as powdered snow drifting to the forested ground. He leans into her touch. He feels like exposed live wire but she handles his heart so carefully that he never feels as though he'll burn up.

And then? Then she says words Diego didn't know he longed to hear. "Even if you forget me, I'll always come back to you."

Introducing the first interest in Ever After: Twisted Secrets the sunshine boy and Holy Knight, Noah!

What if I told you my hand slipped and I accidentally released a snapshot of content from my side project that I've been working on late at night and on weekends for the last two years? =o

It's about 34,000 words (consisting of a Prologue and Chapter One) introducing the setting and the characters.

The are 5 love interests (you meet all of them: Asher, Daaz, Noel, Raif, and Yren.)

MC has some customisation.

The setting is a colourful science fantasy that starts out on an exploration vessel poking around in black holes and other shady places where they uncover interesting things like glowy boxes with people sleeping inside them.

Deep breaths.

This is it, everyone…our Final Quarterly Progress Update. I would like to start it off with a BIG announcement.

Band Camp Boyfriend fans, we have heard your pleas! It is to our understanding that literally no one liked any of the current love interests so we decided to scrap all of them in the eleventh hour of our game’s development. Instead, we are proud to announce that due to popular demand, Band Camp Boyfriend will instead consist of two routes: DRUM AND DRUMMER!

I’m sure you’re all very excited, just as I am!

…Did I fool you?

Hahaha Happy April Fool’s Day, Bandits. If any of you WERE excited, I’m sorry, there will be no Drum and Drummer route. To the rest of you, please put down the pitchforks and torches. I will stop pulling your leg and get on with the show! Our final major update!

To begin, I’m thrilled to say that we have been given the green light by Steam and Band Camp Boyfriend has been approved for release. It was a much smaller headache this time around! Though there was a hiccup with the game being too big for Itch.io, but I managed to wrangle it under the file size limit. So we should be good to go on both.

Here is our beloved to-do list for the last time…

OST: I know I said we wrapped up the soundtrack last time, but Alex still worked on it quite a bit these past three months! She revamped a number of old songs and composed a few new ones! The soundtrack adds so much to the game and I’m certain you will love it.

GUI: We also finished work on the Extras menu this quarter, fixed the history menu, and then some. This was mostly thanks to my phenomenal friend Ross, whom we never could’ve done this without. Thank you so much, Ross, for putting so much time and effort into this!

Beta Testing: As you can see, beta testing is done. The deadline was yesterday. I had planned to work on beta tester feedback during the month of April, but I wound up working on it as it came to us. I really can’t help myself. I’ll treat myself to a break once the game is out!

Cleaning: This is the last thing, really. Playing the game and making sure that everything is looking and sounding great. Making last-minute fixes where needed. I’ve got a little “before release” to-do list I’ll certainly be looking at this month.

We are truly in the home stretch! One thing I want to make you aware of is that I’ll be having free game giveaways on our Tumblr, Twitter, and the r/otomegames Reddit once we’re closer to release date. Make sure you’re keeping an eye out for those so that you may throw your hat in the ring. :)

Now…our final announcement…and I promise you that this is no joke…

Band Camp Boyfriend will release in its entirety on May 11, 2023.

I expect to see every single one of you on that field, fully hydrated and ready to work hard! We’ve got a show to learn!!!
