why does stellifer not feature a single dark-skinned love interest?

Since Stellifier is about idols, we did quite a bit of research and based it off of real-life boy bands / idol groups like Backstreet Boys, EXO, and Hey!Say!JUMP to name a few. Additionally, we looked at other idol games to do some competitive research and saw that there was a lack of diversity even amongst their huge cast of 14+ characters - games such as Ensemble Stars, B-Project RYUSEI*FANTASIA, or The Idolmaster SideM. We acknowledge that this is a real industry issue. But since we’re indie (there’s only three of us working on this full-time and we’re not even making minimum wage from our games yet 💀), we’re paying out of pocket to produce the game and the reality is that we unfortunately could never afford the same amount of artwork as these bigger corporate studios with 14+ characters. So we had to make the creative decision to invest in Frey, Hawkins, and Mikael as they are for their specific storylines and backgrounds that we created from our research about the idol industry. For context of Frey, Hawkins, and Mikael - they’re not all white-caucasian-American-pop, but actually Frey represents Eurasian idols, Mikael represents Swedish Eurovision style of pop and techno, and Hawkins represents glam post-punk English rock music. We did a lot of research to craft their characters and stories.

However, our second studio title “Somnium Eleven” has several dark-skinned characters that we would love for you to check out and get to know them as they have great fleshed out stories! Also, there are so many other great games with dark-skinned love interests! May we recommend supporting the following indie games?

Hello! Hope you're having a lovely day! Do MCs powers extend to plantlife too? What if she was a botanist in her free time, and grew lots of flowers and gifted the LI with these flowers? I hope you have a great morning/noon/night, thank you so much for creating a great game.

Lol…….. Well…. Yes, I can tell you that the MC’s powers dooo extend to plantlife… the MC in-game has just not been very experimental with her powers, only using them on animals and landlords for the most part, so she would be very surprised by this. :’) We can run with a headcanon of an MC who knows and actively uses her powers on flowers though.

Warden: Can’t really relate but thinks it’s great that MC has a cool hobby. :) Would keep a plant or flower on each of his desks.

Griffin: Tucks a flower behind his ear and says “How do I look?” Asks MC for some flowers during special occasions (gets invested in discussing flower meanings and colors), and is generally happy to work out some side gigs if MC is interested in floral design for events.

Mia: Sneezes! Tries to hide her allergies, would sooner be stuck in a room full of flowers before she admits to weakness. Thinks MC is badass flower queen though.

Dart: Would like to have a nice green plant; takes very good care of it. Once in a while might ask if MC could send flowers to his parents or his sister. Or the occasional biker friend if he's feeling saucy. (Ends up having to help MC send flowers to all the biker friends, probably, lest they complain about being left out...)

Jade: Coos over all MC's plants/flowers, names them, super into it. Talks to MC about how they're doing, low-key grieves and worries when plants unexpectedly wilt. Out of everyone, Jade is the most invested in hands-on helping MC with gardening.

Lemos’ favorite past time is reading. He’s the type who is quite studious because of his upbringing. Unfortunately, he’s a bit of a workaholic so the types of books he reads tend to be skill development type and not really for pleasure. To be totally honest, Lemos has issues when it comes to taking time for himself. He rarely, if ever, takes days off so he doesn’t do many fun things these days. When he was young is a different story, though...

Soh loves to cook, bake, broil, grill, etc. Anything food related you name it. Making food is a passion of his, though explaining why really branches into intense spoiler territory. So all I’ll say for now is cooking. Another thing I can say is that... Soh is quite a particular foodie. Sharks don’t eat just anything, you know. That’s just a rumor.

Isven’s favorite pastime is being left alone sculpting. Unfortunately, talking more about that also branches into spoiler territory, so I’ll just say this: Isven comes from a long line of artisans. How did artisans become a royal line? Well, you’d have to play his route to find out. ;^)

The Professor loves to talk endlessly about whatever hyper-fixation he’s into, usually something from the human world. He also loves play games, mostly strategy ones such as sebastes, their version of Chess, which was invented by Lemos’ countrymen. He’s also a musician and a poet. Kind of a creative all-rounder. Unfortunately, he’s an idiot savant, so that’s not saying much.

[Special Character] If you asked him, he’d say ���none of your business’ but thankfully I’m answering. ;^) This character is actually sporty. He loves to keep fit and takes morning swims early each day.

I love the wide variety of settings you've written! 💜 Where do you find your inspiration? What's your initial process like?

Thank you so much! My inspiration is usually taken from things I love such as classic faerietales and scifi concepts that I love. Celestia for example was inspired by the time I was on an hour long ferry at night and all you could see were stars.

I just thought... what if stars were people.... if one came down and spoke to me, what would I say? What would they say to me?

Little things like that can inspire me.
