1951 T.T.C. streetcar on Queen St. W., just after I had a blast today, riding on it with my family, in honour of the 80th anniversary of the P.C.C. streetcar serving Toronto. - Thank you @ttcinsta for a fun filled day. @cityofto #the6ix #ttc #sparky #ontario #canada #transithistory #history #transit #vintage #streamlined #heritage #vintagetoronto #ridetherocket #redrocket #1951 #1950s #1938 #anniversary #commemmoration #hopkindesign #freeride #celebration #fun (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/BoF8kl5nMCw/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=u6ypglj4w5qh

I had fun splicing this "Then & Now" image together today. - 1924/2018: Firefighters of the 1st shift in 1924, Toronto Fire Department Station No. 22 appear over the same building in 2018. @torontofireservices still operates out of 87 Main Street, it's now station No. 226. . 1924 image credits: Pg. 133 of "The History of the Toronto Fire Department" Courtesy of the Toronto Public Library, #352.3 T592 HSS. - 2018 image Courtesy of Google Maps. . #tbt #throwbackthursday #backintheday #1920s #oldschool #photoshop #history #torontohistory #hopkindesign #vintagetoronto #vintage #heritage#architecture #firefightinghistory #firefighting #toronto #ontario #canada #canadian #the6ix #thenandnow #firehall #photomanipulation

The Horse of a Different Colour... Here's a video of me playing around with the hues of the car in this photo. I've also added more colour details to the surroundings. It's tricky to decide on a final car colour when they all look so very cool... April 10, 1929: Airplanes of the Toronto Flying Club get ready at the Leaside Aerodrome for flight to Selfridge Field. - Original image Courtesy of the City of Toronto Archives, Fonds 1266, Item 16135. Hello Tumblr!!! For my first post, here’s a comparison view of an image that I digitally repaired and colourized, and am now using as my banner image. - July 18, 1923: Front Street West, view looking west to The Queen's Hotel from Bay Street, Toronto, Canada. (T.T.C. reconstructed streetcars on Bathurst route.) The Queen's Hotel was demolished to make way for the Royal York Hotel, which still stand today. - Original image courtesy of the City of Toronto Archives, Globe and Mail fonds, Fonds 1266, Item 1128.
