Avant Gardener by Courtney Barnett Melbourne's Courtney Barnett has a blend of psychedelia, folk, and country, reminiscent of Bob Dylan. I love this track in particular.

Berlin-born DENA might sound familiar, but you have to admit it's catchy. The real reason that I'm posting this video is because I got super excited by the Erlend Oye cameo (See: Every Party Has A Winner & Loser).

Good things tend to happen when you have The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach as a producer. (See Also: Dr. John's Locked Down, Grace Potter's The Lion The Beast The Beat, Bombino's Nomad, and Ray LaMontagne's Supernova) The music video to Hanni El Khatib's Pay No Mind is fun... a lot of fun. Give it a watch!

Durham's Sylvan Esso is pretty hypnotizing. The entire video seems like a dull dream. It may go down as one of my favorite tracks of the year.

I've been listening to Cherry Glazerr on repeat today. If you want to turn up the volume to one of their tunes, I'd recommend the title track, "Haxel Princess". Put on the album, grab a cup of coffee, and watch the escaping sunlight. It adds to the effect.

I've been mesmerized by this track from Jamie xx for some time now. Jamie xx (aka Jamie Smith) is a quarter-part of the group that makes up well-known English indie pop band, the xx. Far Nearer is the first single on her lone venture and captured the music scene by storm. Crisp steel drums ping across the wide span of the track while the pitch-fucked vocal sample chants "I feel better when I have you near me".
The single was released on limited edition vinyl "Far Nearer" b/w "Beat For" and in digital copy. Start streaming the song from SoundCloud.

I had a chance to catch Danny Brown at Bonnaroo this year. At the time, I hadn't done my homework and I wasn't sure what I was in for... How I was pleasantly surprised! Bear with me for those who love Danny and think this is yesteryear's music, but I can't get enough of the music video for his track "Grown Up".
Via Scion Audio Visual:
Stylish and sucka free, Danny Brown is a Detroit rapper like none other. His punchline-stuffed 2011 album XXX landed high on many best-of year-end lists and deservedly so. On his new Scion A/V single "Grown Up" Brown reminisces about being a frisky little kid over snappy snares and pulsing piano. "Whoever though I'd be the greatest growing up?" asks Danny.
Aside from the obvious theme, this video is awesome - as the pint-sized Danny trashes a library, throws toilet paper at a dude taking a piss, and retains an adorable gruffness even while riding a toy horse. Download the track for free at www.scionav.com.

Move over Fleet Foxes: there's a new indie rock band in town.
Campfire Ok premiered this single off of their sophomore album, When You Have Arrived, back in September and it's been on my go-to playlist since. Strong three-part harmonies and a banjo make up a song that's nearly irresistible to not stomp your foot along to. There is no release date (at least that I could find) for the full album, but the band did release a second track on their Bandcamp website called "Whereabouts". We're hoping for a full album in the near future, but in the meantime checkout their Bandcamp website for a "name your price" download of their two newest tracks.

Between her soulful vocals, ectrobeat, and agtipop reminiscent of the likes of MIA, LeaLea Jones' single "AK47" was among my favorite tracks of the summer. Add drugs and violence to her powerful voice, and you have something confusingly delightful. I definitely except to see more great music coming from LeaLea Jones soon.
