PLEASE for the love of the universe read anti-colonial science fiction and fantasy written from marginalized perspectives. Y’all (you know who you are) are killing me. To see people praise books about empire written exclusively by white women and then turn around and say you don’t know who Octavia Butler is or that you haven’t read any NK Jemisin or that Babel was too heavy-handed just kills me! I’m not saying you HAVE to enjoy specific books but there is such an obvious pattern here
Some of y’all love marginalized stories but you don’t give a fuck about marginalized creators and characters, and it shows. Like damn
advice i think we should tell children is that when adults say stuff like ‘now that i’m an adult i get really excited about stuff like coffee tables and bathrooms and rugs etc’ they don’t mean ‘and now i don’t care about blorbo and squimbus from my childhood tv shows anymore’ bc your average adult still loves all the same pop culture stuff they always did; they just have a greater appreciation for the mundane as well. growing up just means you can enjoy life twice as much now. you can get really excited about a new stuffed animal AND about a new kitchen sponge. peace and love
Tired of explaining over and over again every election season that you're asking us which poison we'd prefer to drink, that this entire empire is standing on the promise of killing and exploiting and humiliating and erasing us, only for someone to still interpret it as "Oh, so you'd prefer Republicans?" No, we really, really wouldn't. You're not listening. You're not letting us criticize Biden because you see that as an endorsement of Trump. You're asking us to zip our mouths shut and pretend we don't see anything wrong with him because otherwise we'd be "helping" that other guy who decidedly also hates us, as though we have any love for him or any motive to help him. You blame us for highlighting Biden's shortcomings that lead to his decline, instead of blaming *him* for his shortcomings that lead to his decline. Either way we get the blame. Either way it's the poison.
fuck it. be creative even if you never really *make* anything. write out plot synopses of stories and then move on. design OCs you'll never use. make mood boards and concept art and don't do anything with them. life's too short to forget everything that inspired you and creation doesn't have to be "complete" to be worth the time you put into it.
VOTE: WHICH RANDOM OLD NICHE DESIGN AESTHETIC IS THE COOLEST TO YOU????

doing this because im very autistic about old design styles and im curious what other people who dont have as much knowledge on the subject prefer. more popular or relatively popular design styles like frutiger aero, vaporwave, global village coffeehouse etc have been excluded from this poll as theres already a lot of people who are aware of those design styles and favor them already. this is more to see what specifically current audiences prefer in terms of "nostalgic old aesthetics" and what could potentially be the next Big Trendy Aesthetic in online culture (or at least the makings of one) ^_^ feel free to rb
