Thoughts about my College

When I came to know for the first time that I'm going to do my UG in St.Joseph's College , I was firstly exited because I've been asked by people why I didn't do my Pre University in St.Joseph's College ? Due to this question I was quite exited to know what is so special of doing my studies in St.Joseph's . I did find the college far better than my Pre University College .

 When I began my career in St.Joseph's I was a little amused about the atmosphere created by the college . To tell about the disappointment there was nothing much but if I have to mention something , I would mention about the classrooms as I expected quite more .

Now , as I'm doing my UG in St.Joseph's college , the first mental image which I get when I hear the name St.Joseph's college is the statue of St.Joseph at the entrance of the main gate . These are the things which I was asked to write about my college .

Print Ads

I was asked to find a print ad which I wished to write about and I began searching for an ad and found two print ads which was quite offensive .

This image is actually stereotyping the women . Here it shows that the women is the only person who has to work at home and doesn't care if she is been gifted with a vaccum cleaner for christmas . It shows that she is appreciating the gift too .

This image shows the race discrimination . It shows the superiority of the Americans over the Afrikans .

Selfie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was asked to write about this trending work of taking selfie and what it is selfie according to me ?

According to me nowadays taking selfie is become a great trend . Selfie is a self potrait photograph taken with a hand held camera . There might be different ways in which people mean while taking selfies . The important need for taking selfie is to post it on social websites like facebook , instagram etc . The other need is to send selfies to your loved ones . The advantage of taking selfie is you can click photos in the way you want yourself to look in the picture . When you are in a studio or someone else is clicking a picture of yourself , you'll surely be very eager to know how the picture looks . Infact you'll be praying that the picture should satisfy the way you want yourself to look in the picture .

In taking selfie you can make yourself look very good as it is yourself who is taking the picture and it's your plan or way of how you look in the picture . Selfies are clicked in many places and at any durations . Selfies are clicked from the time you wake up and from the time you go back to sleep . Selfies are even clicked at the funerals and at any situation . Moreover photos are clicked for a memory and taking selfis at any situation is a great memory too . Selfie is become so trendy that there is even a cinema song released based on it .

The Pride Of Baghdad

We were given a set of comics to read and the one which I felt interesting is this comic named " The Pride Of Baghdad " . The reason why I found this comic interesting is because the story was based on animals . It was inspired by a true story . Being a lion lover , I was even more eager to read the story as the story was based on the pride of lions which escaped from the Baghdad zoo .

The story begin where a crow started telling that the sky is falling . It means bombing of Iraq is taking place . 4 lions escaped the zoo . The male lion named Zill was strong and he was accompanied by two female lions named Safa and Noor and a cub named Ali . The story was all about how the lions escape from the zoo . Zill tells Ali about the horizon which he remembers seeing it out in the wild .

The story ends with a sad news where all the 4 lions die and Zill shows Ali the horizon . The lions were shot by the U.S soldiers . Zill takes care of the pride all the way . Zill was the one who was shot first too . It was a sad ending .

The reason why I chose this comic is because compared to all the other comics this was quite interesting and the way the characters were described was interesting . The comic takes us to the thought how the animals think and how lions think when they are left free from a zoo and how they react when they are all hungry and want to escape from the danger and go out to the wild .

Comic Book Reader ( CBR )

Comic Book Reader ( CBR ) is a software used to read comics through gadgets like , mobile phones , laptops , desktops , notebooks etc . You must first download Comic Book Reader ( CBR ) and then install it . When your done with the installation of the software , you should download a comic book or a comic strip through torrents or anything else .

After the process of downloading the comic book you can open the book through the Comic Book Reader ( CBR ) and can start reading the book . The Comic Book Reader helps you to read the comic book page by page , same like the way you flip the page of a comic book in a hard copy . The pages will be arranged perfectly in a sequence and will help you to read the comic a sequenced manner .

To tell how the hard copy is coverted to soft copy , first the comic books are scanned , that is , the comic books are converted to JPEG images , that is , the images are converted in a manner in which the computer can understand and are stored as a archive file . Archive file is a file that contains number of computer files in one single file . This is done for easy usability of the file . The archive file consist of images of the comic book in a sequenced order and when the file is opened the pages are viwed in a sequenced manner .

This is how the Comic Book Reader ( CBR ) work and it is quite interesting in reading the soft copy than the hard copy because the images of the bomb blasting and gun firing etc are good to see in the soft copy .

The most embarrassing picture

To write about the most embarrassing photo of myself is this photo which was clicked very recently when I went on a family tour to Ooty . I really enjoyed the day with my family members and was really tired . I was exhausted and fell asleep in the bus while returning to the room which we had booked to stay while we where in Ooty .

My cousins are very naughty and they drew all kinds of funny images on my face and clicked a photo . They even cleansed my face after clicking the photo . I was so tired and sleepy that I didn't even realise what was happening to me . We returned home after a week from Ooty .

I noticed that all my cousins had the same wallpaper on their phones . I then figured out that it was my picture which was clicked when I was sleeping in the bus . My cousins explained me everything what happen and that is when I came to know what acctually happen and felt really embarrasing looking at the photo . I was wondering how they could have done this to me and then came to know the artist who drew on my face was my uncle . He managed to draw in such a way that he didn't wake me from sleep . I was really embarrassed .

To tell about something that I like in my college is the gardening . It's really very nice to look at the flowers grown in the college . This is the prettiest flower grown in the college .

Inspired by the image..................

The reason why I'm inspired by this image is beacuse I like the way it is taken and the view of the tree behind the person is very interesting . The ground on which the person is sitting is very much higher than the ground on which the tree is grown yet the tree looks as though it is next to the person as if  the person and the tree are in a slope . It looks like the image has three layer's in a single view , the first one is the place where the person is sitting , the second one is the place where the tree is grown and the third one is the ground below the tree . I was present when the picture was taken and the tree was so huge but in the picture it looks very different . The background of the image that is the tiny houses are also quite effective in the picture . On the whole the image is quite different according to me hence I felt it interesting and inspiring . The angle in which the image is captured is interesting too .

Anonymity and surveillance.......

According to me both anonymity and surveillance is good in online searching because most of the people who use internet tend to be very social in the way they talk and interact but there are some people who misuse this and start disturbing the persons .

Hence , idea of Edward Snowden about surveillance holds good in internet searching but according to me the persons who are good deserves to be anonymous and free while searching the internet and should not have the thought that he is being watched by people .

The sixth week paper

I started to read the newspaper for the sixth week and this weeks task is quite different from the other weeks task . This week I had to read a regional paper and write about it where as the previous weeks I read different english papers and wrote my assignment .

The experience was really good because the familiarity in reading the different english papers was very less while reading a regional paper and the way the paper was organised was very different . It was quite hard to follow . I read the famous kannada newspaper called the  " prajavani " .

I read about the college student who was robbed . She is 20 year old . She was tied to a tree and her perse and mobile phone was snatched from her . She had wounds all over her and the family began to search for her only in evening as she didn't return home .

I read about this news where Dr. H.S Venkatesh Murthy tells that stories catch a lot of attension of the students .

I then read about this news where a women was raped by 4 mens in an auto when she was returning home after giving food to her husband , she was actually dragged into the auto . The names of the 4 men were Sunil (26) , Mahadev Batt (24) , Ganesh (20) , Jagdhesh (23) .

Israel Gaza conflict

I was given a task of reading about the Israel Gaza conflict in online and write about it . The objective of giving this task to me is because I have to know whats happening in Israel Gaza and the way it is brought out through different media .

According to the websites which I read I found that the alternate media websites shows that Israel fought to protect them or it can be also stated that Israel fought back to give an answer to the Gaza attack . I also read that Israel was quite for nearly 6 days and then gave an answer ( attacked ) to Gaza . Nearly 1,70,000 Israelites were killed . The alternate media which I read is American Thinker .

The main stream media gives a different news compared to alternate media that is , the main stream media shows that israel is the one who started the conflict and they didn't really mention the 1,70,000 death of the Israelites . The reason for the conflict is the Hamas kidnaped the Israeli teens in the West Bank in June . This was admited by the Hamas . The main stream media which I read is BBC .

Different views on alternate media

According to me alternative media plays an important role in the society . When compared to the professional way of publishing the news , the alternative media plays a better role in the society .

The way the news is rendered to the society is different and better and interactive in alternate media . The urge to know more about what is happening in the society is brought out better in alternative media than in traditional newspaper reading .

Mostly the news about the politics and the promises which they make and which in turn will become the empty promises made by them are brought out to the society through the alternative media . The information's are perfect and the quires can also be written back to the websites . The way the news are rendered to the society is better in alternative media , that is , the information's are given out like comic strips and with many video's etc which makes it better than the traditional way of reading the newspaper .  

There are some alternative media which is based on specific field in the society like , this alternate media called The Ladies finger is a faminist media .

When a comparision is done between the alternative media and the traditional media , alternative media is better . The interactiveness is good in alternative media .

The fifth week paper

  I planned to read The Deccan Chronicle paper for the fifth week . There was a lot of difference in reading this paper because the previous week I read the Bangalore Mirror paper which was not the same as the previous papers which I read . The Deccan Chronicle paper did catch my attention in the way it was organised . The paper was organised in this manner , that is , first it had news about the city and then about politics and then about the international news and then about edit and then about the Op-Ed and then about business and then about market and then about technomics and finaly about sport . The paper also has a seperate division or a seperate paper for the city called the Bangalore Chronicle .

I started reading the papers from 1st august and on this day I found the Vibgyor school rape case news interesting because from past so many days we're able to hear a lot of informations about this news and now the activists say that the police and the media mishandled the case .

On 2nd I read the paper and found this news which was quite disturbing , that is , the news about the Vibgyor school - rape case . The parents of the special students are angry on the new rules laid by the school . They are angry because all the special students are advised to have a shadow teacher .

On 3rd I read about the news where the Israel striked Gaza again . The Israelites found that there was a soldier missing and thought that he is captured by Hamas . They attacked the southern part of Gaza .  

On 4th I read this news where three youngsters died after their Inova car plunged into a river after hitting a boulder in Maddur , Mandya district on Sunday morning . They were BCA graduates and searching for jobs . The accident is mostly caused by their rash driving .

On 5th I read about this shocking news where there were 1,200 eve-teasers booked in 3 days .

The fourth weeks paper

  The fourth week I planned to read the Bangalore Mirror paper and I was really taken back by the difference I felt in reading this paper and the previous papers which I read . The main difference in Bangalore Mirror is there is a lot of news related to cinema and lot of entertainment news too . Whereas in the other papers it was really different and the news related to cinema and entertainment was less compared to Bangalore Mirror paper .

I started reading this paper and on 10th I read about this paper and felt quite difficult to find an interesting news and I managed to find one and the news is about the spotted dear which was found IT corridors in front of the Forum Value Mall in Whitefield Road . The rescue team termed it as ' rare ' because they have not spotted a dear in this kind of busy area .

On 11th I read about this news where a six year old girl was killed by her beloved aunt . The husband and wife duo partners kidnaped their niece for 10 lakh ransom and when plans fail , they kill her and join a search party as dutiful relatives .

On 12th I read abot this news where the teens who plan to catch pigeons end up robbing woman . Gowtham and Diwakar who are SSLC dropouts planned to catch pigeons and earn their living . One morning when they spotted the birds on the terrace of a residental building they planned to catch them but at the same time they saw this old lady named Satyavathi who was counting money in her room and they found that the old lady was alone . The lady walked out of the house to pluck flowers and this is the time the duo entered the house and stole 60 thounsand rupees cash and 19 lakh worth jewellery .

The next news which I read was about building a complex in Vasantanarasapura village . Bsaavaraju - " There's no water in wells and the youths are not ready to work  on farm . So've decided to take the money .

Wikileaks

Wikileaks is an organisaton which leaks secret information from anonymous sources . Its website, initiated in 2006 in Iceland by the organization Sunshine Press . Julian Assange an Australian Internet activist is generally described as its founder , editor - in - chief and director .

The group has released a number of significant doccuments which has become the front - page new items . According to the WikiLeaks website , its goal is to bring important news and information to the public . WikiLeak has an importatnt activity , that is , it publishes the original source material alongside with the new stories so readers can see the evidence of truth . Another important activity of the WikiLeaks , is that , it ensures that the journalists and the whistleblowers are not jailed for emailing sensitive or classified doccuments .

According to a January 2010 interview, the WikiLeaks team then consisted of five people working full-time and about 800 people who worked occasionally, none of whom were compensated. WikiLeaks does not have any official headquarters. In November 2010 the Wikileaks-endorsed news and activism site Wikileaks Central was initiated and was administrated by editor Heather Marsh  who oversaw 70+ writers and volunteers. She resigned as editor in chief, administrator and domain holder of Wikileaks Central on 8 March 2012 .

WikiLeaks states that it has never realesd a missattributed doccument and that doccuments are assessed before realse . WikiLeaks.org is the website for WikiLeaks and the page also contains a label named as donate which helps the public to send news to WikiLeaks .

The third weeks paper

I started the third week with the Deccan Herald paper and since I'm reading the paper for a continuous period of two weeks , I feel I'm quite familiar with reading the newspaper but since I had to read different papers for each week I feel it's reducing the familiarity which I should undergo .

On 1st I read about this news where Chennai and Bangalore have once again held in the doubting distinction of being the suicide capitals of the country . There has been a survey and the rate of suicide per day is calculated based on its cause and the highest suicide rate is for family problems and the second is illness and the third is relationship failure and the fourth is bankruptcy and the fifth is dowry dispute and the last is poverty .

On 2nd my eye was caught on this news because there is a lot of conversation about this problem in home , that is , the rise in the price of the vegetables . There is already rise in the price of tomato and coriander leaves in the past few days and now there is rise in the price of other vegetables too .

On 3rd there was this news about the big damage of the BMTC bus that ploughed into the median at the Sirsi Circle flyover on Wednesday . No one was injured in the accident .

On 4th I read about this news where the city jewellery showroom gutted with fire in M G Road . The Navarathan Jewellery showroom gutted with fire and three firemen and employee suffered burns . There were no injuries caused to any employees or any pedestrians because the accident was caused not during the working hours . The employees rushed and managed to bring out jewels from the shop and throw them out through the window .

On 5th I read about this interesting news where the driver plots to kidnap boss ( H R Anushya ) . The driver along with eight other accomplices kidnapped her and demanded her son Ram Reddy to give Rs one crore plus Rs 30 lakh worth jewellery . The police suspected the driver and then the driver agreed his mistakes and all the accomplices  were caught . 

On 6th I read about this news where Taliban sets fire to oil tankers in Kabul . Which they clame that they were supplying foreign troops in afghanistan .

The second Newspaper

To start the second week��assignment I had to read a different newspaper and not the paper which I read for the first week . So I thought of reading The Times Of India newspaper .

On 20th I read about this news where a little girl aged 4 and named Akshata fell into a well and found dead after 48 hours of search . Akshata is from Nagathana village in Bijapur fell into a 60 foot - deep borewell where she had been trapped since Tuesday evening . She was found dead on Thursday at 10pm by the rescue team .

On 21st I read about this news which was quite shocking . A 14 - year old Bihar boy who never went to a school makes it to IIT . Shivanand's father Kamlakant Tiwari , who is a farmer and graduate in history honours , wanted him to become a sage and used to call him 'bal sant' but Shivanand is interested in doing maths and his father encouraged him to continue even though he calls him a 'bal sant' and he also encouraged him to persue his higher studies .

On 22nd I read about the rise in traffic problems in 4 cities in Gujarat and 1000 new constables are to be recruited to solve the problem in Gujarat .

On 23rd I read about this news where I felt really irritated , that is , a 11 year old boy named Mihir Gandhi was killed by his father's paramour . He was kidnapped by her from his school and was killed . This tragic event took place in Bilimora town in Navsari district .

On 24th I read the newspaper and found this news quite shocked . A milk shop owner was beaten by four members in Ahmedabad . The problem is the four members spoke abusive about the women who came to purchase in the same shop and when the owner warned them to stop using abusive language at the women and the four left the shop at once but returned in the afternoon and started beating the owner with sticks .

On 25th I read about this news and was quite happy too . In Gujarat women get a fair share of job in police . Government is ensured 33% reservation for women .

The experience in reading two different papers for two weeks was really interesting and the difference I felt in reading the papers is the way it is organised and when I read the different paper for the first day I felt quite difficult to follow the paper and then for the rest of the week I was not really feeling comfortable to read the paper.

To tell about the experience what my family went through in reading the different papers is, they didn't feel comfortable and was not satisfied in reading the different paper. It was definitely a different way of reading this paper when compared to the old paper which I was reading.To talk about the nearest newspaper agent in my area (Viveknagar) , the newspaper agent is 2 streets away from my home and Bangalore Mirror is the paper which is sold most in my area .
