Request FAQS

Hey y’all I figured since people have questions about requesting characters we’d clarify some things in this post for future reference

How to request: shoot us an ask with the character and series and we’ll look into it. Just keep in mind we may not know abbreviations for some shows, so try to include the full titles.

How many characters can you request: as many as you wish, just keep in mind our inbox is very full, like, all the time so we may take a while to get to the request, and we may not get to all of the characters in the request. We still appreciate all the requests regardless!

Is the inbox open: not right now unfortunately, it’s super full and we need to catch up and empty it before taking any more requests. Apologies, and bear with us! Well let you know when requests open again

Hair length: if the hair is of ponytailable length or seems like it is of ponytailable length, it probably qualifies.

Hairstyle: buns will usually count, since buns also require at least ponytailable length hair. As long as you can tell the hair is long, it probably qualifies, style doesn’t really matter much. And gifs are not limited to a character’s usual hairstyle.

Haircuts: we shudder at the thought. But as long as the character had long hair at some point, like in a brief flashback or something, we’ll probably take it. We’ll do wigs too, we just want to make sure we are posting guys, which is the caveat to requests for characters with wigs (See characters)

Characters: if the character is a guy, they should qualify. This includes trans men, because they are guys. We also try to stray away from non-binary characters, as we respect people’s identities. So we also will not post trans women on this blog, since they are women, not guys. As a rule of thumb, if it is unclear if the character is a guy or not, we will probably not post them because we are not experts and we are being cautious. Additionally, if you see us post a character that is not a guy, please correct us, as it was definitely a mistake on our part.

Media: we don’t do game characters, as we are longhairedanimeguyoftheday, and only want to post anime characters. However, if the game has an anime adaptation and the character you want to request is in that anime, they probably qualify. Same applies to visual novel characters. Any characters that are in an anime or anime adaptation of something count. And if an anime with a requested character isn’t out yet, we’ll wait until it is out to post that character. Also, characters that only show up animated in game cutscenes do not qualify, as those cutscenes are part of a game, not an anime. Apologies for mess ups that have made this confusing for y’all.

What if the character only shows up in flashbacks/for one short background cameo? To that we ask are they in an anime? Do they have long hair? Congrats they should qualify, we don’t care if they were only in a flashback or something as long as they showed up in an anime at some point

Unsure if a character qualifies, even after looking at the guidelines? Send it in anyways, and feel free to include why you think they might not qualify to help us investigate. Us mods will make the final cut.

Can’t find a character on the blog? They’re probably not on the blog yet. Also, we may have already done the character you requested, and they just didn’t show up on the blog search because tumblr likes yeeting posts off of the blog on occasion. Go ahead and request them, and we’ll work it out from there.

TL;DR you can use these guidelines to make a request, and if you’re nervous about a request that may not qualify, we’ve had people straight up request women. I think if you manage to not do that, you’re fine.
