Jesse chuckled when Leo asked what he meant by “memorable.” He hadn't meant to throw him off, but the word just felt right. Leo was always the one who left an impression—always a little unpredictable, but in the best way. “Well, I mean it in the best way," Jesse said with a grin, leaning in just a bit. "You're one of the main guys on the team, man. It's not the same without you here." It wasn’t just about their friendship—it was about Leo’s way of showing up, always being there when it counted. He wasn’t sure Leo would fully get what he meant, but that was the gist of it. He wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Jesse threw his hands up in mock defense, his eyes widening playfully as he turned toward Leo. "Whoa, whoa, hold up! I wasn’t thinking about Isaiah, alright?" He grinned, shaking his head. "I got enough on my plate without adding that into the mix." Jesse waved his hands around for emphasis, like he was trying to make the point that he wasn’t about to get tangled in whatever mental image Leo had just thrown out there.
"So, what are we thinking? A chill night out with the team? Sports? Bowling? Honestly, anything that gets me out of the same old routine sounds good right now." Jesse paused for a moment, his smile softening. "And hey, even though you're not back 100% yet, we can figure everything out. We’ve got each other’s backs, always." The words were genuine, a quiet reminder of the bond they shared.
" Memorable? what on earth is that supposed to mean?" he asked jokingly even tho he was half serious, he wasn't sure he knew what his friend actually meant by it. not that it would make him live him any less. " oh you can picture that huh?" he said with a smirk, watching his friend closely and just chuckling. " he's mine tho, hands off. you cant do anything more than imagine... tho I do prefer you don't actually" he then added, laughing at this point. It was funny to him, that Jessie was picturing it, but could he blame him? no.
" yeah, i think most of us know that feeling" Leo agreed, they had both been injured on the job and had to recover and sit out. It was never fun. " I know right? i´m way more useful on the ground with you, plus its way more fun. " he stated. He wanted to be back with his team, to save lives, to help everyone out. He felt like it had been forever since he was at work last, and it had been quite some time. He also knew that the doctor and his bosses were tight not to let him go back into it fully yet, he was still struggling mentally, seeing his father's face every now and then and his body wasn't back to 100%. Leo did not want to put anyone in danger.
" awesome," he said with a smile " but is Isaiah cals you cuz he doesn't believe me, we are at your place watching something over a beer okay? He worries too much" leo stated. " but no I don't really have any ideas, i´m up for literally anything that's outside my apartment," he told Jesse. He loved his house and he loved his man but he had a real itch to do something with his friend

Jesse stood there, a soft smile playing at the corners of his mouth as he looked at Millie, cradled gently in Odette’s arms. "Guilty as charged." His heart swelled with an overwhelming sense of pride, watching the two most important people in his life share a moment of pure joy. He didn't need to say anything to convey how content he was; the warmth in his eyes and the way he stood close to them said it all. He was happy, deeply happy. The world outside of this little circle felt far away, and in that moment, Jesse couldn't ask for anything more.
Jesse gently reached out, his finger lightly grazing Millie's soft cheek. His gaze softened as he studied her face, a tender smile tugging at his lips. "I can see some of my features… and some of yours," he murmured, his voice full of awe and love. He traced the curve of her cheek with the slightest touch, as if trying to memorise every detail. His heart swelled with the overwhelming realization that she was a perfect blend of both him and Odette.
" You're dad is such a kiss ass Millie" Odette teased playfully, but deep down she was deeply touched by his words, all of his compliments touched her, every single time." You're just saying that because you want to hold her, but you're never getting her, never ever" Odette playfully went on, wanting a banter with her boyfriend. But then she stopped to take a look at Jesse and her smile softened even more than before. He looked proud, happy...at peace...he seemed...very satisfied with the way life was right now, with this little creature in his girlfriend's arms and him just standing there looking at them. He seemed very happy with that, and that made her also extremely happy.

Jesse watched with a soft, exhausted smile as Odette cradled their daughter, Millie Rose Carter, in her arms. He could see the transformation in her—the way her entire expression softened, the pain and exhaustion from the last 17 hours melting away as she gazed at their newborn. The smile that spread across Odette's face was like a light breaking through the storm of emotions she had been dealing with. Seeing her hold their daughter, he couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of awe.
As Jesse stood there, watching Odette gently rock Millie in her arms, a wave of realization washed over him. This—this tiny, perfect little person—was their daughter, and he knew, with absolute certainty, that this was what he wanted. He had imagined moments like this, but now that it was real, he couldn’t help but feel a deep, overwhelming sense of love and purpose, knowing he was ready for whatever came next with his new family.
"I said you're the most incredible woman that I have ever met, and I’m so lucky to have you as the mother of our little girl."
It had been an exhausting day. Not only did Odette's water break while she was taking a dump, the birth was taking a really long time,Odette was exchausted and devestated, crying for Jesse to push it back in and forget this ever happened, finally after 17 hours of labour, they daughter finally arrived into the world. As exahusted and horrible ODette had been feeling only a moment ago, as soon as little Millie Rose Carter came into her arms, it was like all her feelings turned into mush and she couldnt stop smiling. She didn't even notice JEsse trying to talk to her, she just kept staring at Millie and crying a little. "huh?"

"How do you even know that from Mean Girls: The Musical?" he muttered, more to himself than to her. His mind was racing, trying to piece together how Anja, of all people, had picked up those lyrics. But she was already onto the next jab, tapping her chin like she was actually giving it serious thought. When she teased him about being all "boyfriend-of-the-year vibes," Jesse’s protective instinct flared. Of course, he wanted to make sure everything went smoothly with Odette, Odette’s brother and their little one. Those were his people. And then she shifted right back into her usual teasing self, this time with something about living with family. Jesse snorted at her take on Demi’s family dynamics. He knew Anja wasn’t the type to let her boundaries be crossed, but she was right. He loved Odette’s brother, but it was still going to be a challenge. He hoped the baby wasn't going to bother him with all the crying and tantrums at god knows what kind of hours in the morning. Still, he wouldn't change anything. Isak was like a brother to him. Him being there was important to Jesse. But then came the part that made his eyes widen. He winced just thinking about it. “Ugh, I’ll definitely leave that to Odette. I’m just here for the cute baby snuggles.” Then Anja’s dramatic shudder about "leaky" everything had him cringing along with her. He couldn’t help but laugh, though. “Towels,” he said with a nod, taking notes. "Got it. I'll make sure to steal some from the inventory from here." Towels would come in helpful - no matter what. He needed more. He nudged Anja's arm with his own as a playful comment came to him - wiggling his eyebrows he spoke confidently amused. "Honestly, though, the bed’s always soaking wet with our late night antics, if you know what I mean."
anja laughed as jesse’s face turned red at her teasing, shaking her head dramatically. “no, babe, you’re definitely karen in this scenario. those pants barely cover your perky hiney.” she stuck her tongue out at him, clearly enjoying his embarrassment. how did she even know those lyrics from mean girls: the musical? she wasn’t sure, but they were too perfect to keep to herself. “forget cady,” she mused, tapping her chin thoughtfully. “i didn’t even like her. her friend, the one before she turned into a total bitch—what was her name again?” she paused, pretending to think but really just to mess with him. jesse’s protective energy wasn’t lost on her, and she smirked. “aww, look at him, all boyfriend-of-the-year vibes. cute,” she teased, rolling her eyes playfully. when he admitted he was nervous and excited, her teasing softened, and she chuckled. “you don’t have to worry about me dropping her, okay? i’ve got this. i’m telling you, that little one is going to be adorable, and i can’t wait to meet her.” she crossed her arms, grinning at his genuine sweetness about living with odette’s brother. “you’re too nice, honestly. not sure if i could live with demi’s family. i love them, but, like, boundaries, you know?” she shrugged, then shifted back to her teasing tone. “and let’s be real,” she smirked, “you won’t be doing those midnight feedings, my dude. that’s all odette. breastfeeding sounds like such a pain, though. leaky and everything.” she shuddered dramatically. “just do yourself a favor and stock up on towels so the bed doesn’t end up soaking wet.”

Jesse couldn't help but grin as Leo spoke, feeling that familiar warmth of camaraderie. It had been a while since they'd all been together, and while things weren't exactly back to normal, having Leo back was like a breath of fresh air. He had missed the guy's energy, his jokes, and the way he kept things light even when things got tough. Jesse raised an eyebrow at Leo's playful question, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Loud?" he repeated, clearly amused. "Nah, man, not loud, just... memorable," he teased back, the playful banter a reminder of the easygoing friendship they shared. As Leo went on about Isaiah spoiling him during his recovery, Jesse chuckled along. "I can totally picture that," he said, shaking his head, imagining Isaiah, probably in his own world, dancing shirtless. "I mean I shouldn't when I'm talking to his husband but I am." Jesse was sure that Isaiah would have a whole routine down, and he couldn't help but laugh at the mental image.
When Leo mentioned not wanting to sit at the desk, Jesse gave him a knowing look. "Yeah, I feel that," he said, his tone lighter. "You're better off with us." Jesse was glad Leo wasn’t pushing himself too hard, and he appreciated the offer to pitch in and help around. It was typical of Leo to want to stay involved, to be present with the crew, even if he wasn’t fully back to his regular role. "Hey, let’s do it," Jesse replied when Leo mentioned hanging out after work. "Any ideas, firefighter?"
" thanks, im glad to be back on my feet and back here, you don't even know" Leo chuckled. It was really nice to be back even tho he wasn't back to normal work. At least he was around his second family again, he had missed them all so much, especially Jesse. " wait.... are you saying I'm loud?" he asked jokingly. Leo knew very well that everyone usually knew where he was at the station, in this group of people Leo was constantly joking and having fun. " yeah, that was the only good thing about being stuck recovering, Isaiah really did spoil me. My favorite thing was him cooking dinner and dancing around shirtless, bro, that's some next-level shit" he said with a chuckle at the thought of it, he could picture it so easily. " yeah its no joke but hey i´m not stuck at home anymore. Speaking off, wanna go out and do something after work?" he wondered.
" yeah i know you always got my back just like I always got yours" Leo smiled with pride, it was nice having friends like that. It was precious and Leo really appreciated it. " thanks man, its so good to be back. They want me at the desk, but I'm thinking ill stay with you guys and when you get a call ill just clean or something, I do not wanna sit at the desk" he stated.

Jesse couldn’t help but smile at Anja’s playful jab. He was well aware of the dynamic between them, but it still felt good to hear the compliment, especially in the lighthearted tone she always seemed to bring. He laughed softly at her words about being the "nicer Regina George" of the station, because honestly, he didn’t think of himself like that at all. But he did take pride in making people feel good, so it was flattering to know his efforts didn’t go unnoticed. "Doesn't that make me the Cady Heron before she turns into a bitch?" Her words about Odette made his heart swell. He could talk about her for hours—he loved her that much. “Odette’s the best,” he said with a proud smile. “She really does deserve to be treated like a queen, and I’m not about to let anyone treat her any less than that.” He chuckled at the thought of their baby. "I can’t wait to introduce you to the little one. I'm nervous and excited all at the same time." When Anja brought up him living with Odette's brother, Isak, he couldn't help but to smile. He loved sharing the space with him. Isak was becoming like his kid brother (only, of course, he was an adult). Her comment about Isak and the baby made him laugh too. “Yeah, I think he’s in for a rude awakening,” Jesse said, shaking his head. “I’ll have to prepare him for the noise. He’s gonna have to get used to it—there’s no going back now!” His tone was light, but he was clearly excited about the changes ahead, even if they came with their challenges. “But hey, at least he won’t be the one doing all the midnight feedings or nappy changes.” He gave Anja a wink, knowing that’s exactly where the fun would begin him and Odette soon.
anja rolled her eyes at her coworker’s comment. “you’re totally the popular kid here, like the way nicer regina george of the station,” she said with a grin while wiping down the truck. everyone loved jesse, and it wasn’t hard to see why. he made time for everyone, always had something kind to say, and was hands down the nicest person there. maybe anja came in second, but that was up for debate. she rolled her eyes again and gave him a playful shove. “seriously, go take a shower,” she teased. it was obvious how much jesse loved odette from the way he talked about her, and it made anja so happy for them. they were having a baby, and she couldn’t wait to meet the little one. she didn’t even have to ask to know odette was treated like a queen—jesse would make sure of that. “yeah, i’ve heard of isak,” she said, leaning against the truck for a second. “but no way i could live with my sister. we’d drive each other insane. plus, in 29 years, she still hasn’t figured out how to knock before coming into a room. i’m not trying to deal with her walking in on me and demi.” she shook her head, laughing. the thought of isak dealing with a crying baby made her laugh even harder. “poor guy, at least he had nine months of peace. you’re gonna have to sit him down and break the news gently. the peace is officially over.” she smirked.

conversations inside the fire house came easily to jesse somehow which was strange because he spent a lot of childhood feeling like he didn't fit in anywhere. the fire house, however, was like his second home. he loved coming to work and telling his co-workers about whatever he'd been up to the previous night if he'd not seen them. jesse loved listening to his co-workers talking about themselves too. paramedic zoe was kind of seeing brennan or so he knew so far, leo was still all about isaiah and anja and demi seemed to still be going strong which was great news. "oh, stop it. i'm not the popular 'girl' of the station by any means. i just make sure to find the time to check in with everyone." jesse wouldn't want anyone feeling left out. he'd been on that side. nobody deserved to feel like they didn't matter and he wouldn't make anyone feel like he had in the past - even if that meant going the extra mile to make each and every co-worker feel like they could have at least one person here they could go to if they had any troubles. jesse playfully whacked anja on the arm with his fire truck wash cloth as she teased him. "who says i haven't already got one?" jesse snorted, kidding of course, before wiping the fire truck again. odette was one of his favourite people to talk about. jesse could happily sit with someone and boast about his girl for hours on end. jesse nodded his head as anja explained he'd picked the right answer about having no judgement. he didn't. odette could ask for whatever she wanted and jesse would go and try and find it as quickly as possible. he shook his head from side to side a s anja asked if living with odette's younger brother was a mood killer for the couple. "nah, isak's great. i don't have any siblings so now it's feels like i have one." isak didn't cock block him or anything like that. odette and jesse and isak made decisions about the house together and all worked well. "yeah, exactly. he's got his noise cancelling headphones to block out any noise that we make. he knows what couples do and he's got a boyfriend that he goes out and sees sometimes."
.
anja shook her head at jesse’s words. she was outgoing, sure, and could chat with pretty much anyone, but she didn’t even try to compete with jesse. he was easily one of the most loved people in the station. everyone talked to him, and honestly, he somehow managed to know all the gossip before it even became gossip. “yeah, yeah, you’re the popular girl of the station. get over yourself, jesse,” she teased, shaking her head with a grin tugging at her lips. as she kept cleaning the truck, she couldn’t help but be more focused on him than the actual work, though she was careful not to make it obvious—she didn’t want to get called out. “who knows, maybe you need attention to survive,” she added, shrugging her shoulders with a playful smirk. “calm down, or you’re gonna pop a boner just talking about odette,” she teased, rolling her eyes at him. she loved the way he talked about her, though. it was obvious he was crazy in love, and she couldn’t help but find it sweet. “if you judged her, i’d have punched you, so yeah, you definitely picked the right answer,” she chuckled. then, with a curious tilt of her head, she added, “honestly, i don’t know how you do it. living with your girlfriend’s brother? doesn’t that kill the vibe a little?” she asked, smirking as she leaned on the truck. “just wondering. sounds like it’d make alone time a bit… complicated. but i guess you don’t care, seeing as you still managed to knock her up,” she said, shrugging, her tone light and teasing.

Jesse grinned when Leo joked about Isaiah treating him horribly. Isaiah wouldn't do something like that and everybody knew it. "Glad to see you back on your feet, man," Jesse said, slapping Leo’s shoulder gently as they shared their usual bro hug. "It’s been way too quiet without you here." He raised an eyebrow at Leo’s comment about being "fat" but just shook his head. Leo looked smaller to him if he was being honest but he didn't decide to press matters. It was just good to have him back. "Isaiah’s been spoiling you, huh? I bet you’ve been living the high life. I hear you, though—being stuck at home is no joke."
Leo’s smile was small but genuine as he talked about his recovery. Jesse could tell the physical stuff was fine, but the mental side was still a work in progress. He didn’t push it, though. "Don’t worry about Isaiah," Jesse said, "I won’t give him any grief. Just take it easy, man." He gave Leo a look of reassurance. "You know I’ve got your back, right?" Then, with a grin, "Welcome back, bro. Let’s get you settled in and keep you from losing your mind again. What duty do they have you on right now?"
Leo had been bored out of his mind while on sick leave. saiah did an amazing job of keeping him busy, but he ofcause had to go to work as well, leaving Leo home to fend for himself. Leo was loosing his mind and had finally been able to talk his boss into letting him come back to work. He wasn't cleared for calls just yet, but he could do things around the station or do the dreaded desk job which actually sounded good to Leo right now seeing how bored he was with being away from work. Leo smiled as he saw Jesse and heard his voice "Yeah, I figured you guys were losing your minds without me so I decided it was about time to come help you guys out" he joked. and bro hugged him like they always did
" no, hes been treating me horribly, I barely survived" Leo joked with a chuckle. " naah, Isiaah has been treating me like a king... well technically I am king but you know" he laughed softly " don't you see how fat I am?" Leo joked tho he had actually lost both weight and muscle. The last two months had been harder than one would think. Aside from healing after everything that happened, Leo struggled a lot mental which was the main reason for him not being cleared for calls. But Leo was not about to admit to it to just anyone. He was ashamed of it. " while my ribs were healing, Isah would barely let me move from the bed to the couch. But i´m all better now, bones are healed, the wound from the surgery is only a large scar now, i´m good" he explained with a small smile. " Isaiah has been my personal chef, entertainer, waiter, cleaner... name it. So no need to have a talk with him"

Jesse had been feeling the absence of his coworker, Leo, ever since he'd been on medical leave. He didn't know all the details, but it had been a couple of months now. When he saw Leo walk back into the station, a grin spread across his face. "Well, well, well, look who decided to grace us with their presence," he said, striding over and pulling Leo into one of their signature bro-hugs. It felt good to have him back at work. "So, has Isaiah been taking good care of you at home, or should I be having a word with him the next time I see him around here ? I hope he's been waiting on you on hand and on foot while you were at home."

Jesse was not the type of person to go and boss people around. His temperament was the opposite - unless someone had unnerved him and got him mad somehow. He didn't get mad or frustrated too often. He was laid back and chill most the time. "You aren't bossy though, baby, you just know what you already like and don't like." Jesse didn't want Odette climbing on the furniture if she didn't have too. What if she slipped and fell and hurt herself? He wouldn't live with himself if something happened and he could've been there to help.
Odette's laugh was one of the most magical sounds in the world to him. It never failed to bring a smile back onto his face. "Nuh-uh. Not happening. I won't let you take it." Jesse could differentiate the two in his head and split them into two separate things. "When you say it - it has a different meaning."
"I know, if anyone's bossing people around it's me, not you" Odette assured him with a teasing smile. "Don't worry, I'll try to behave, promises, no more climbing on chairs" She found it unnecessary caution, but if it made JEsse feel a bit calmer then it was important, anything to calm his nerves, he was such a stressed little father to be, which Odette found endearing and adorable of course.
When he started kissing her and saying he's gotten the hang of the whole daddy thing, Odette laughed" I think we have to start rethinking my whole daddy kink now" She joked playfully.

jesse was someone that could talk to anyone but his friendship with anja was different to his friendships with anyone else at the fire station. the two of them shared a brother and sister like friendship with how much they laughed and bickered about things. anyone that knew them knew also know how much of a great team they made together though. if anja ran into a burning building - jesse would've been right behind making sure she got back out of there unscathed. "that's the perk of being the person that can talk to everyone here. everybody tells me things because they know i'll only go and find it out from another source otherwise." jesse loved knowing all the dirt on his co-workers even though he would never use it against them. teasing people, however, was his thing. jesse would make jokes. cleaning the truck was one of the duties that jesse didn't mind doing. although, sometimes he got in trouble for getting too distracted. maybe today would be another one of those days? he hoped not. anja was here helping him making the fire truck look sparkly and clean. "girl attention definitely would've got me excited when i first started here. why would i need to get excited nowadays though? i have the hottest girl waiting at home for me to get back to her after my shift." odette was top tier in jesse's eyes. a solid ten out of ten. he'd always had a thing for blondes too. his childhood crushes were also blondes. jesse didn't mind odette's weird cravings because he didn't need to do anything but get odette what she needed at the time. "a pregnant woman needs what a pregnant woman needs. who am i to judge?" jesse was also excited for his daughter to come into the world soon. he could only imagine what life was going to be like when she did. "our house is going to pretty full though, huh? odette, isak, me and the baby." still, jesse wouldn't change anything. he loved having isak being there with them both. "isak's like the complete opposite of odette."
everyone in the station knew that anja and jesse were the best duo. they made a great team, and she honestly didn’t know what she would do without him cheering her up. but if she was honest, no one could take jesse’s spot. he was the person she talked to the most there, always ready to lend an ear or offer support. she considered him her best friend, even if she teased him about not being able to be one in this lifetime. she loved him, and sometimes it was obvious; he was the brother she never had. “you’re so nosy, and i’m glad you don’t deny it,” she teased, glancing at him as she started helping him clean up the truck. she hadn’t been assigned much that morning, so she figured she could lend jesse a hand for a while. “odette has changed you,” she laughed. “if i had told you that before you met her, i bet you would’ve gotten all excited.” she stuck her tongue out at the firefighter playfully. “but that’s the right answer! i’ll tell her you’re a good boyfriend; she probably doesn’t know,” she joked, a smile lighting up her face. “she’s a champion; i can’t imagine anything different. but i bet it’s not effortless, you know? so many changes, hormones…” she mused, shaking her head at the thought. she liked kids, but pregnancy? that was a big no-no for anja. “ice cubes give the best crunch,” she chuckled. “the best part of fizzy drinks is munching on those!” she agreed. “and i’ve heard what some pregnant women crave, and i’m sorry, but that sounds disgusting,” she added, wrinkling her nose. “i can’t wait to meet the baby!”

jesse knew some of the other fire station workers had said some remarks about anja once upon a time. jesse would definitely go after those people if they'd said anything in front of him about his co-worker at the time. she was an amazing firefighter and that's all she needed to be. everybody's personality was different at the fire station. jesse would probably say he was the fire station's class clown for lack of better term for how everyone laughed at and with him. jesse was constantly getting comments from the captain about talking too much and getting distracted but not while he was out. jesse could get serious on the job when he needed to buckle down. "i can hold my hands up and admit to be nosy. i love catching up with people on anything and everything." jesse liked listening to people and knowing what was going on in everybody's lives around him. jesse spoke with anja about demi, leo about isaiah, zoe about brennan. he didn't like people feeling left out so he would be the person to make conversation with whoever wanted to speak with him. jesse had been on the receiving end of being ignored during his teen years and didn't wish for that on anyone else. jesse's hand pressed against his heart as anja mentioned that half the town would probably burn down their houses to get him to rescue them. "i'd kindly hope that won't become the case. i'd have to let down a lot of people and go back to my girl." odette was jesse's go to person. odette helped him come out of his shell and he was forever thankful. jesse never thought that odette would like a guy like him. she was everything he wasn't. a woman he would dream about being with. "she's taking the pregnancy like a champion." jesse was the one who was a little more nervous for the whole process. what if he couldn't live up to his own high expectations of being a dad? "i don't know how she manages to make being pregnant look so effortless." jesse pressed his finger to his lip as he thought about odette's cravings. "she's been crunching on ice cubes which took me by surprise." maybe it was a distraction thing? he couldn't really tell. jesse just knew to get fresh ice cubes if his pregnant girlfriend got a craving. "odette's never been a fussy eater though. she'll try anything once."
anja had always been a bit of a wild card—bold, reckless, and with a quick wit that rubbed some people the wrong way in her past fire stations. but in this new town, she'd found a team that didn’t just tolerate her sass and daring attitude; they embraced it. that sense of belonging was new to her, and after letting her guard down around jesse, she found herself getting closer to the rest of her crew. they weren't just great firefighters—they were great friends, on and off the job. laughing at jesse’s comment about their captain thinking he talks too much, anja couldn’t resist teasing him. "you do talk a little much, but it’s because you're nosy! you just want to know everything that’s happening around you." she stuck her tongue out, knowing he’d fire back with something witty. at the mention of his wife, odette, anja smirked. "relaxed, huh? well, sorry carter, but you're just not my type," she teased, though she knew full well how attractive people found him. "i’m pretty sure half the town would burn their own houses down just to get a rescue from you." she shook her head, amused at the thought. "how’s odette doing though? is she tired of being pregnant, or is she one of those who loves the whole process?" anja asked, genuinely curious. she couldn't imagine herself being the type to enjoy slowing down for anything. "i don’t think i could handle it—sitting still, relaxing. i need that adrenaline rush, that danger" when jesse mentioned odette’s cravings, anja’s eyes lit up with mischief. "craziest craving so far? i need to know. give me the full review!" she laughed, leaning in, eager to hear whatever bizarre combinations odette had been coming up with lately.

Jesse knew that Odette was an independent, confident, gorgeous young woman who didn't like to be told what to do but this time he knew she would listen to his pleas because this was about more than just the two of them. Odette was pregnant with their child and she was growing more and more everyday. "You know that I don't like to boss you around because that's not me. I just want you and our little baby to be safe and away from harms way." Jesse didn't want to over-think anything. Odette was safer with two feet on solid ground for the time being while she was with baby. Jesse's eyebrows raised as Odette went to grab his butt but was stopped by his stupidity by pretending to cover the baby's little ears on top of the bump.He leaned forward to press a kiss against Odette's mouth, then cheek, and then finally neck. "See? I'm already getting the hang of this whole daddy thing."
If anyone could handle Odette and accept her for her in every possible way, it was Jesse, it was something she had always looked for in a partner and she still couldn't believe she had found that in Jesse, that she had really found the man of her dreams...and he was hot as fuck so that was a huge bonus.Although it was a little annoying that he was overprotective, Odette also liked it, because no matter how independent she claimed to be, she did find safety and comfort in the caring way jesse always treated her, and the attention she got, sometimes she did it on purpose, just to see how he'd react. Odette was about to grab jesse's butt when he covered her belly and talked to the baby, she couldn't help but laugh, that was freaking adorable and hilarious at the same time.

jesse co-workers were some of his favourite people on the planet. jesse didn't really get to his parents too much as they lived further away from the town that he was currently residing in which meant his co-workers were more like the family that he got to see everyday. jesse and anja's friendship was different to some of his co-workers. the two could have a laugh and were constantly bickering and bantering with each other about anything and everything. she was someone that he knew he could talk about his personal life with without fear of judgement and knowing that he would get anja's honest opinions about whatever situation he was going through. cleaning the fire truck was a duty that the captain put him on at least once a week because he liked to tease that jesse would miss a spot. he couldn't missing a spot when he got distracted by conversations happening around him and wanting to be part of them. jesse enjoyed being out-going and talking to everyone. it was almost therapeutic to converse with different people every day. "right? i think cap thinks i talk too much, which i do sometimes, but i put in a great shift whenever i'm on cleaning duties." jesse rolled his eyes and playfully nudged anja back in the arm as she mentioned using her first name as his future daughter's middle name. odette probably wouldn't be too happy if he named his daughter's middle name after his work bestie. "yeah i think odette might question i'm seeing you in secret even thought she knows i'm not your type which is beyond me. i'm usually everybody's type." jesse shrugged his shoulders as anja asked him how he was handling the hormone roller coaster his girlfriend was currently going through. "odette's a trooper. i just ask what she needs and we go from there. she's more than ready to raise a kid."
anja was the kind of person everyone got along with—outgoing, friendly, and always ready to make someone smile. but those who took the time to really know her would find out she was much more than that. she was passionate about her work, deeply committed, and someone who cared fiercely for the people she loved and worked with. jesse? well, he was her favorite. he wasn’t just a coworker, he was her best friend at work, the one she felt the most comfortable around. "yeah, water," she teased, rolling her eyes and giving his forehead a light tap with her finger as she walked past him, a soft chuckle escaping her lips. as jesse got to cleaning the truck, anja joined him, getting the polisher ready with a smirk. "lucky you, i’m here to make sure there are no spots this time. can't have the captain breathing down your neck again," she laughed, knowing full well that their captain had given him a hard time about missed spots in the past. she loved using that to poke fun at him. when he mentioned the baby’s name, anja couldn’t help but smile. "millie rose carter," she repeated, letting the name roll off her tongue. "it is adorable. though, millie anja carter would be even cuter," she joked, nudging him playfully. "but since you keep saying people would think we had some sort of affair, i guess rose works too," she winked, always enjoying the banter between them. as they worked, she glanced over at him. "now, just make sure you come back in one piece, alright? odette doesn’t need the extra stress. i don’t want to hand her a burnt jesse," she teased, then added with a grin, "how are you surviving the hormone rollercoaster at home, anyway?"

jesse didn't get to see his parents too much so the firehouse team were like his family away from home. he got to see those people near enough everyday and felt like he knew them all pretty well at this point. some of his closest friendships were with people from the firehouse and he wouldn't have changed that for the entire world. jesse was constantly asking his co-workers for advice about his work life, his love live prior to dating odette, and talking about how trials and tribulations from the past. "everybody knows that i'm your secret favourite even when you won't admit to it." jesse and anja's friendship was different to some of his other friendships at the fire station. the two were like brother and sister sometimes. they would fight and bicker and make up a second afterwards. it felt nice to have someone be so real to him. jesse knew that he needed someone in his life that didn't mind keeping him in line. anja was always honest with him - even if the truth sometimes hurt his feelings. everybody needed that one person to be like that with them. jesse caught the sponge anja threw at him and soaked it into the bucket right next to him. he squeezed the excess water back into the bucket not wanting the water to run onto his clean uniform. "i always get told i miss a spot when i'm on the cleaning the truck duty." jesse's captain would always give him the same look because he knew he got distracted easily and would miss doing something simple because he was too caught up in conversation with other people. jesse didn't know how he was going to cope with fatherhood but he was hoping it was something that would come easy to him. odette wanted a kid at this stage in life and he was more than happy to help with that. "odette shortlisted some names for girls and boys and let me pick between them." jesse wouldn't have known where to start so he was thankful took the reign on that. "millie rose carter. sounds cute, right?"
anja had always loved her family, but the team at the firehouse had become something just as close. what started as a strictly professional relationship had evolved into something much deeper. these people weren’t just colleagues—they were her family. they celebrated birthdays together, toasted each other's successes, and supported one another through the toughest times. anja felt a warmth in her chest, knowing that she had this group to lean on. “most people here are a little silly, they can’t think that,” she chuckled, hearing a groan in the background that only made her laugh. “see?” she added with a grin. but if anyone thought jesse was her favorite, they wouldn’t be wrong. there was something about him—they just clicked. not in a romantic way, but in a way that made her feel understood. they were similar in ways that mattered, and she was grateful to have him in her life. “let’s clean the truck,” she said, tossing a sponge at him with a playful smirk. “i want to see it shining, carter.” she winked, clearly enjoying the easy banter between them. the thought of jesse becoming a father filled her with a mix of emotions, all good. she was ready to step up as the best aunt that baby could ever have, always there to support jesse and odette when they needed a break. “babies do love me, but can you blame them?” she laughed, her smile widening. “that’s really sweet of you, jesse. being a father suits you.” she paused, curiosity sparking in her eyes. “if she’s not going to be an anja, what are the possible names?”

Jesse still couldn't believe that he got to call the hottest girl in the world his girlfriend. He use to be afraid that no one would be able to fall in love with him. How wrong had he been back then? Now, his girlfriend was pregnant, and looking like one damn fine momma. He was starting to notice her baby bump growing more and more everyday. "You can be independent with two feet on the ground at all times. Please don't go climbing up on there again. Isak and I can reach things for you from this point on." Jesse pressed his mouth against Odette's to quieten any more protests from exiting the girl's mouth. His hands pressed to the girl's cheeks as she mentioned that she would never stop flirting with him or his big everything. A low chuckle escaped him. "You better not stop flirting with me. It's all yours to do whatever you please with." Jesse's hands fell down to Odette's bump - pretending to cover the babies ears there. Although, he really didn't have a clue which part of the bump he was covering up. "Don't listen to daddy talking dirty to mommy, okay, little baby? This is a private conversation."
Odette smiled, she loved how easy it was for her to seduce him, it made her confident that he was all about her and not interested in anyone else. "look, I know you don't want me standing on stools and stuff, but you can't expect me to just stop being independent just cause I'm pregnant, I canðt just change my personality cause I have a baby in me" she tried to argue. "Im glad you had a good day but you need to realise, I will never stop wlirting with you or your big...everything" She said with a smirk
