06.01.25 - Hal and I went to a very cool but depressing exhibit for Dreamstate at the Asian Art Museum. One of my favorites was this set of matchbooks. The girl on the matchbook immediately reminded me of an old picture of my mom (bottom left)!
Afterwards we went to a Korean restaurant down the street and cried over dinner, discussing the impact this exhibit had on us. Overall, we left the museum feeling more sad than anything- but I guess it was intended to be centered around the struggles of growing up Asian American.
It did make me think about my art- and how a lot of my work is created to help me navigate thru my personal issues. But when am I going to start breaking out of that? I want my art to convey more than just my struggles- I know I have it in me to create something more, but I'm finding that I always come back to the same theme...
Anyways- we wiped away our tears after dinner and headed to a bar next door to network with other artists! Hal does an amazing job with social events, while I love to listen and people watch. And considering everything that was happening during the time, I'm surprised I even put myself out there. Pat on the back to me (:
We celebrated a successful networking event by getting some boba at little sweet 💕 it gets better every time I have it (◡ ω ◡)
