🤩 M I L L I O N A I R E S 🤩 In the midst of all the packing and moving last week, the boys finished their final school year at Ponderosa Elementary last Thursday. 🥹 One goal that both boys had this year was to become Millionaire Readers, which are kids who have read 1 million words. After reading each book, they take a quiz to prove they read and understood the book. Our kids aren’t voracious readers, so we were really glad that the boys set this goal for themselves. Thankfully, they got really into Chris Colfer’s “Land or Stories” and “Tale of Magic” book series a few months ago. One month before the end of the school year, they each had a little more than 100k words to go. Since we knew that they would be leaving their school and the progress wouldn’t transfer, we encouraged them even more to try to hit 1 million before the school year ended. Four days before the last day of school they both finished their books, took the quizzes, and surpassed 1 million words! We were both so proud of them. They told us that during the school announcements the Principal said, “Our first brothers to become Millionaire Readers on the same day!” They had their names announced in the school post and they got these nifty t-shirts. ~~~~~~ Funny related story from @albie81 : “Back in March, I was worried about financial stuff with stocks plummeting and interests rates climbing while trying to buy/sell a house. During our nighttime prayers with the boys, Jalen prayed, “I pray that I can be a millionaire!” I went into teaching mode and said, ”God can bless us with money if He wants, but He can also bless us without tons of money too. Either way He will bless us.” I realized what I was saying as it came out of my mouth. How it applied to my worries, and I thought, wow God is teaching me here. The next night, Jalen was reading his book. He made some comment about how many words are in the book. That’s when I had a realization. I went up to him and I said, “Jalen. Last night when you prayed to be a millionaire, did you mean…a millionaire reader?” He nodded. Lol, his prayer had nothing to do with money. God, still used it as a teaching moment for me though!” https://www.instagram.com/p/CeSgZXWLLck5Efm2YyHNzfPWwmbjltFh9wx-GQ0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Today we handed over the keys and said our final goodbyes to the first home we ever owned. I haven’t been as sentimental as @albie81 , but I’m glad he posted a bunch of memories over on Facebook. One thing I did want to do was recreate the first photos we took with the house 7 years ago, and show how much we’ve changed and grown while in this home! Thank you, Sherwood Home. We’ll miss your charm, your quiet neighborhood, your nearby hidden gem of a park, your remodeled master bath, and your beautiful artificial grass yard. 🥹 You have been such a blessing to our family, and we know you’ll continue to be a blessing to the family moving in. Some of my favorites from our family photo session. 📸❤️ Way more than ten, so I had to use layout! This was our family’s first session ever with a professional photographer (JCPenney doesn’t count 😅). Since the boys were born, I wanted to wait until I felt more confident in my appearance to do a photo shoot. But before I knew it, my babies became grown boys and I missed the opportunity to capture some sweet memories of our whole family during the early years. So this year, I made a very conscious effort to book a photo session for our whole family, including our third child, Jack-Jack 🐶. I love how the photos came out and am so glad that we finally did it this year! I especially love some of the funny photos like when @albie81 was attempting to whisper sweet nothings in my ear, when Jalen fell in the background, and when we tried to get @jackjack.lab to take a photo with us but all he wanted to do was give me kisses. 😘🤣 Thank you @shefaliparekh for capturing our family! https://www.instagram.com/p/CX6xD83veHq/?utm_medium=tumblr

That was fun! Would do it again. Started Friday night, finished tonight. For those curious, I got this kit off of Amazon. The brand is Vigeiya. This elephant one is sold out, but they have some other nice ones! #paintbynumbers #covidhobbies https://www.instagram.com/p/CJDTVX1JoiQ/?igshid=1xntkfa6vi508

Friday night, we watched Eight Below on Disney+ about 8 sled dogs that had to be left behind in Antarctica for the winter. Not all the dogs survive, and when the movie alludes to the first dog dying, Elijah started bawling really, really hard. 😭 (Jalen wasn’t phased haha) It broke our hearts to see him so emotional! He cried again at the end because of the dogs that didn’t make it. Then maybe 30 min later, something hit me and I said to Elijah, “Wait, you know that those are actor dogs right?? None of those dogs really died during the movie!” And then I saw him pause, his eyes go wide 👀, and the wheels turning in his head with disbelief that the dogs didn’t die. He was so much happier after hearing this. And then I showed the boys a behind the scenes video and he was so relieved to see that all the dogs were okay. ❤️ But definitely made me realize that if/when we need to say goodbye to Jack-Jack, that Elijah will take it super hard. My sweet boy loves furry friends so much. https://www.instagram.com/p/CDH12m6JOXi/?igshid=5wi7fivjpo1q

Made the trek to Walnut Creek so we could wish my mom a Happy Mother’s Day from six feet away. We got to picnic on her front patio and talk to her without any screens between us, which was nice! ————— Whenever we say goodbye to my mom, Al and I always laugh at my mom’s response when we say, “I love you.” Growing up, my family never said those words to each other, and it’s something that I regretted not saying more to my dad before he passed when I was 19. So we’ve intentionally tried to say it more to my mom, and she always responds awkwardly with “thank you...😬” Today was the first time she said, “I love you” when we were leaving! And both Al and I started cheering and clapping, lol. 👏👏 ————— I’ve always been proud to have a mom who modeled strength and independence when I was growing up. She handled finances, planned family vacations, cooked dinner for us after commuting 2+ hrs daily to NYC for work, and she was the first entrepreneur I ever met when she started her own freight forwarding business and became her own boss. I know that a lot of who I am and how I parent has been heavily influenced by my mom. I strive for my sons to see that women can be leaders in the family, just as much as men. So for that, thank you, Ma. Happy Mother’s Day. 🥰 (at Rossmoor, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAB7eZ3pQVZ/?igshid=1di3kv116hu6b

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommies!! ❤️ Loved waking up to breakfast in bed (thanks @albie81), and this paper fortune teller filled with everything a mom could ask for. My particular favorites are: You get to watch what you want. And, You get to drive the Audi. 😂 I feel so loved!! 🥰🥰🥰 #easyeww #jalensanity https://www.instagram.com/p/CAA2iLBp2as/?igshid=bz03k7ub7g54

Happy Halloween! 🎃 Our boys we’re both Spider-Man (but different ones). I picked up some last minute costume gear at Walgreens - Al was an elephant, and I was a rainbow unicorn (only photo I have is of me and an adorably huggable Tibetan Mastiff we met at one of the houses). Swipe more for houses in our neighborhood that go from tame to nightmare-worthy. 😳🧟♀️🙈 #easyeww #jalensanity #halloween2019 (at Brentwood Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4T1cnrpf6D/?igshid=ays0o1a7hct0
