Asking for the Spin: A 3-Step Process (from Beatriz at Moorland Stables)

Step 1: Turn your horse in a tight circle, either to the right or the left, at a slow walk.

Step 2: Slow your horse to a stand-still so they pivot, keeping the same direction.

Step 3: Continue to slow your horse and apply a leg aid in the same direction---they should give you a spin! Keep practicing this with them, both in the saddle and on the ground, and they'll have it down in no time! (Remember, groundwork and ground training are extremely important when it comes to working with your horse in the saddle. Always, always, always work your horse on the ground AND in the saddle, trust me, it will always pay off.)

Lesson on Boogie - 5/25/25

Hey guys I know I'm a little late with this, but the excitement of my first lesson distracted me from posting!

Takin' care of Boogie. He's very affectionate.

Started with some pole work...

Then some cone drills at a trot...

And we cantered cone drills and over poles!

Stacey says I have good form, but I need to work on my balance at the trot and canter. Steering him at that speed with both my legs and reins is hard! So much to remember.

Would make an excellent mount for a beginner or a professional of any age.
