Every time I advocate for voting people are like "no you shouldn't vote! Read this literature, it'll totally change the way you view voting!" And every single time it's the same fucking "you shouldn't vote because both parties are exactly the same so it won't make a difference who wins" bullshit wrapped up in some fancy language

When you understand that kids and teenagers being salty about literary symbolic analysis comes from a very real place of annoyance and frustration at some teachers for being over-bearing and pretentious in their projecting of symbolism onto every facet of a story but you also understand that literary analysis and critical thinking in regards to symbolism is extremely important and deserves to be not only taught in schools, but actively used by writers when examining their own work to see if they might have used symbolism unintentionally and to make sure that they are using symbolism effectively:

i kind of wish the anti voting people wouldn’t dance around the idea of what happens after the election. Like okay, the democrats lose, you taught them a lesson (and fwiw, I do think its a legitimate message to send- the people are not happy with the actions and status quo of the DNC). Now What. Trump, the multiply indicted crime president who incited a violent mob upon the capitol, is now President. He has all the qualities you hate about Biden, AND more, except he and his administration have even less reason to be sensitive to the wishes of their democratic constituents. He is a puppet for the far right and white supremacists and christian nationalists. I really shouldn’t even have to go over this- we LIVED it already. Genuinely asking, is this what you want? Because frankly I do not think 4 more years of Trump is worth it over Biden. Your hands are not clean, this is the future you want to choose. I just don’t understand why.

Stop diagnosing complete strangers you’ve never met on r/AITA with NPD.

Hey all, I want to interview you again

...with some parameters. I'm writing a piece on Gov. Ron DeSantis's regressive climate policies for Welcome to Hell World, and I'm looking to interview some 'experts' on the topic - it's easy to get interviewees who are angry about the situation, because it's incredibly frustrating, but from a media standpoint it's not enough.

I'm looking to interview people who are:

Floridians (or former Floridians, or people who work in Florida...essentially, a strong connection to the state)

Are engaged in climate change / environmental science / related fields through work or study (looking primarily for people at work in related fields or who teach, but if you're a student at a Florida-centric university going for a related field, that's fine too)

Alternatively, if you work in a different field, but have strong feelings about climate change and how it intersects with your work, please reach out (ie physicians worried about health impacts on patients, tourism industry workers worried about changes in weather, homeowners concerned about their local ecosystem - you tell me if you think you're a fit!)

Willing to respond to interview questions within the next 24-72 hours (sooner is better) - this is a time sensitive piece
