I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that these pterry quotes always seem so relevant anymore, but I'm glad that we have them. It's definitely been wild listening to the audiobooks lately.

Some PTerry quotes that feel especially salient at the moment:

As someone who loves both flamingos and art nouveau, I couldn't not share this.

Like, it's not like I'm stealing the stuff for profit, I'm just gonna stash it all there, so go wade through the 75 wheels of cheese and get your 18 books and iron boots back.

I'm currently reading Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain, because I rediscovered No Reservations and remembered how much I loved the man. I also realized that I'd never read any of his books and that I currently have the time to fix that.  He mentioned another chef's cookbook that he had on his own shelf that is all Cajun and Creole recipes, not something I've ever really cooked but I figured if he’d liked the food then maybe I could check it out. So after another trip to Thriftbooks, I got the recipe book, Creole, Gumbo and All That Jazz by Howard Mitcham and I made shrimp jambalaya and it was fantastic. I don't know why I'm surprised that it came out so well, it was a recipe a world famous chef enjoyed, penned by another great chef, and I'm actually a decent cook, so even if I'm not familiar with the dish it's not like I was flying blind, but I was worried about being able to stand for long enough to do the actual cooking (I severely sprained my ankle a few weeks ago and am still having issues with it) and ended up needing a bit of help…ok, my sister did most of the actual cooking while I sat and talked her through everything. And yes, it was fantastic, and it was kind of a fun teaching/teamwork/bonding thing with my little sister which was cool, and I'm falling in love with cooking again through Anthony's books and the commentary in the cook book.

And now of course the fandom obsessed gremlin that lives in my brain really wants a Thatch-centric fic centered around kitchen life and food prep on the Moby because A: there is not enough Thatch content out there and B: I think it'd be really interesting. Unfortunately I'm probably the one that's going to have to write it, because I don't know how many others are both obsessed and interested in this niche of a story, but I'm terrible at actually writing stuff. Like, I never finish anything, and aside from comradery of kitchen workers, logistics of feeding a crew on a ship and thinking up possible theoretical dishes, I don't actually have any idea what to do for an actual plot. Bah.

I had a dream that Discworld got made into an animated series and there was a fuckin beach episode..... Now I can't stop wondering what that would look like because. I mean. Please try to picture lord vetinari suntanning

This took forever, and there are bits I'm still not happy with, but overall I like it, so I figured I'd share it.

I highly doubt that Thatch would let most of these guys help him in the kitchen (Especially Ace, we all agree that Ace is a general menace that eats more food than he helps make and has a habbit of setting things on fire and is therefore forbidden from the kitchen, right?) but let's pretend they wanted to learn to make something for a special occation for pops or something.

Switching fandoms briefly, I had meant to have this done for the glorious 25th, but got it half-done and forgot about it. Super quick and sloppy color over the line art because if I leave it to finish it next year I'll forget about it again.
