you had just finished getting ready for bed. tomorrow was an exciting day. you and your boyfriend haechan were going on your first date in weeks. your boss had recently put you on a full-time schedule. despite haechan’s protests and his light-hearted threats of showing up to your workplace and giving your boss a good sock in the face, you decided to pull through and take the schedule. of course, you were ready to pull out your hair halfway through the week, but haechan was there to help you calm your nerves. he didn’t pull out his teasing remarks the whole time. you were fairly surprised, as he’d usually take every chance he could to rile you up a bit.

when you came home, haechan was prepared to tease you. but the minute he saw you walk in with eyebags and calloused hands, he knew it was time to give you a well deserved break. he was worried about you, as you almost immediately fell asleep the minute you sat on the couch with him every time you came home.

as you plopped down on the bed, you looked up to see your boyfriend glancing at you, with a light smile. you watched as his eyes followed his hands, as you felt his fingertips slowly graze your arm, making their way to your back, rubbing your back comfortingly.

“i’m proud of you, baby.” he looks back up at you, knowing very well that you had a hard time. yet you still pushed through, and that deserves to be recognized and appreciated.

you smile at him, as you grab his hand to intertwine with yours.

moments like this were the best with donghyuck. he always knew how to comfort you after a hard week, but he also knew how to give you a well-needed laugh.

“god, you look so pretty like this... but your shampoo smells horrible!!” you watch as his signature playful smile forms into a fake disgusted face. pinching his nose for dramatics.

“you are so annoying lee.. i’m sleeping in tomorrow!” you turn over as you pretend to be hurt by his words.

“wait what? no! baby~ i was just kidding! i promise!” he whines in his high pitched voice, resulting in the night to be filled with laughter and snarky remarks.

— YOU GOT ME SICK!

you wake up to a sore throat, and stuffy nose. while you attempt to get out of bed, you feel your head pound. with a groan, you rush to your kitchen to grab a thermometer from your drawer. you place it in your mouth, crossing your arms knowing well who has gotten you in this current position. interrupting your thoughts, you hear a beep from the thermometer. whispering to yourself soft prayers for a mild flu while you take it out of the side of your mouth to see your temperature. 

101° .. oh he’s so dead. 

as if the gods heard your mindless curses to the suspected cause of your flu, you hear a loud knock, and an equally loud sneeze to follow it. you drag your feet towards the front door, wishing you could simply turn a blind eye from the door. but, it was such an obnoxiously loud knock, you weren’t able to ignore it even if you wanted to. just as you open the door, you’re met with your boyfriend, jaehyun. he’s covered in a big blanket and a red nose. before you can say anything, he grumbles at you.

“you got me sick!” he turns away for a mere second to cough into his arm.

you scoff at his accusation. “me? i didn’t get you sick, you got ME sick! you’re the one who was coughing way before i even came over yesterday!” you cross your arms, looking up at him with a piercing gaze.

jaehyun rolls his eyes at you, softly pushing you to the side, making his way into your apartment. as he takes out the bag he was holding covered by his blanket,  he places it down on your kitchen counter, sitting down on one of the barstools. your eyes soften as you watch him open the plastic bag. it was two cups of warm soup and packs of medicine tablets for both of you to take. 

you walk over to your boyfriend, smiling at him as you give him a light peck on the cheek. “thank you love, ... but you’re the one who got me sick!” he quickly turns his head in your direction, sending you a glare after he notices the teasing glint in your eyes.

“oh shut up! take your soup now or else i’m sneezing on it!”

“y/n! y/n!” you open your eyes to see your boyfriend’s excited face looking down at you, lightly shaking you awake. your eyes wander over to the window, seeing pitch black. yet, as you trail back to jaehyun, he’s changed out of his pajamas — actually in a plain white tee and jeans. you look at his free hand, seeing his keys held loosely in between his fingers. 

“ah, you’re finally awake! get up and get changed! let’s go to san francisco!” he smiles at you excitedly. rubbing your thigh lightly, in hopes to persuade you to get up faster.

“san francisco? but, isn’t it..” you extend your arm to grab your phone, squinting at the bright light as you read “1:42am” you look back up at your boyfriend, with confusion written all over your face. “.. almost 2am?” 

he smiles sheepishly at you, softly swaying himself back and forth. 

“well, yes.. but wouldn’t it be so fun? a late night drive, listening to music in the car, walking around the streets, taking pictures of the moon? if you’re hungry, we’ll just stop by a convenience store! baby, pleeeaseee? we can watch the sunrise at 6am!”

you sighed, he always knew how to convince you — even when your bed was screaming at you to come back. you look at him for a mere second, then nodding as you lazily get up.

“..fine. only because that sounds really fun. you’re lucky i took a nap earlier.. but you’re paying for the food!” you give him a light smile, as you walk into your closet. yet not missing his quiet cheers to himself.

he sends you a crooked smile, grabbing your hand as you make your way out of your shared apartment, with small giggles from you both. ready for a night filled with new memories to look back on.

you’re in the car, listening to the songs you both put into your shared late night playlist. moments like these, you were so grateful to have your spontaneous boyfriend by your side. to always help push you to experience life outside of the normal 9-5.

you’re looking out from your window, taking in the bright sparkles in the sky. your aimless thoughts were interrupted as jaehyun lays his hand on your thigh, lightly squeezing it to capture your attention. you turn to the side as jaehyun’s smile grows, his peripherals catching you turn to him.

“our song is on.” that’s all he can say, before you dart your eyes to your phone, noticing a cherished song starting to engulf your ears.

you look back up to see him humming to the song, tapping the side of the steering wheel, lightly head bopping to the music.

he’s so perfect.

nreaching san francisco, you hear jaehyun let out a satisfied sigh. you watch as he parks onto the curbside, getting out of the car to go over to the passenger’s side. you turn over, hearing your door unlock. he extends his hand out, allowing you to gratefully take it. jaehyun locks the door as he brings you onto the sidewalk. you’re both looking around, hand in hand, eyes trailing from the street lights to the sounds of crickets. 

“i’m so glad you woke me up to go here today, thank you.” you softly swing your intertwined hands as you continue walking. 

jaehyun rubs your thumb in between his fingers comfortingly.“of course, hon. making memories with you is everything to me, really.” 

you were about to respond, yet jaehyun drags you onto a bench. looking into his backpack, fishing out his polaroid camera.

“sit! i want to take a polaroid of you.” jaehyun gives you a wink, as he steps back to take your picture.

you giggle lightly, knowing he brings his polaroid everywhere he goes. jaehyun loves photography, and you were his greatest muse. he has a photobook of all of his photos of you, but he keeps it a secret from you until he completes the book.

you pose for the camera while he takes pictures at different angles. jaehyun removes the polaroid from the slot, shaking the photo around to make it dry faster. he looks down at the polaroid, seeing your endearing smile, he almost wants to coo at the photo. but, he holds back. jaehyun puts the photo in his pocket, saving it for later.

the sun was going to rise in a few minutes. jaehyun drives you both to the painted ladies. you’re both sat on the lawn in front of the classic houses. making a small picnic with the snacks you got on the way there from the convenience store. you don’t notice jaehyun as you’re admiring the night sky before the sun rises. but, he’s taking candid photos of your side profile. smiling to himself as he watches your eyes sparkle at the scenery.

you turn to the side to see jaehyun searching for something in his bag, watching him silently, waiting for him to find whatever he needed.

he takes out today’s polaroids, and a marker. jaehyun glances at you, with a light smile. looking back down at the pictures. he starts writing on the white part of the polaroid.

jaehyun strides the streets of seoul. he watches as the autumn leaves fall with the gentle breeze surrounding him. before he knew it, he stares at the library’s window in front of him. he finds himself examining the book display. jaehyun’s eyes lit up as he noticed the book you’ve been wanting for days. for the past week, he’s heard you talk to your friends frequently about this certain book. jaehyun knew you had a big passion for reading - he always found you nestled up in your nook, smiling to yourself as you read quietly.

when you first met jaehyun, he teased you constantly about being a bookworm. it was never ill-intended, more of an inside joke between you both. jaehyun slowly fell in love with the way your eyes sparkled in a library. day by day, he’d buy you books and leave it on your desk right before class started. your first date was in the library, the quiet atmosphere gave jaehyun easy access to absorb your beauty in your favorite place; maybe even your second home.

you hear your shared apartment’s door twist, you look up to see jaehyun with a bag filled with books. you could hardly contain your happiness, as you jumped up from your seat, running over to him. jaehyun watched your excited expression, his heart throbbed with happiness. he cherished you with everything he had, you were his heaven on earth. jaehyun couldn’t help but buy you anything that reminded him of you, as long as it made you happy.

as you opened the bag, your eyes widened at the sight. jaehyun bought you the book you’ve been dying for, added along with some books he thinks you’d love. as you read the introductions, you feel hands wrap around your waist. you feel jaehyun lay his chin on top of your head, looking down at the book and reading along with you.

“do you like it? i hope you do, i browsed around and picked the ones i think you’d like.” you feel him grinning, causing you to smile yourself. “these are perfect! thank you love, genuinely.” you felt so lucky to have such an amazing person in your life.

“y/n, what’s that?”

you turn to your best friend, jisung. you share a confused glance as jisung gestures to your desk, you trail your eyes to the black velvety box with a single red rose next to it. you stare at the questionable sight, until your thoughts are interrupted.

“chenle’s here! do i look nice y/n?” you grimace as you watch your classmates take out their cosmetics. you nod nonchalantly, as this is a normal occurrence for you. everyone was attracted to chenle, you couldn’t deny it yourself either. he was a kind boy with a bright future ahead of him, he never let his wealth get to him. he was the mood maker of the class, who wouldn’t swoon for chenle?

class wasn’t starting anytime soon, and you were overly curious to see what was in the velvet box. you trailed your fingers against the corners, it felt.. expensive? you felt a bit guilty, knowing someone had most likely spent a hefty amount of money on you.

as you were admiring the rose, you felt a slight weight on your desk. you look up to see chenle standing in front of you, his hands on your desk holding him up. you watched the corner of his eyes crinkle, a slight smize.

“oh! hi, chenle. did you need something?”

he smiled at you with soft eyes, he always admired you. chenle was never good with his words when it came to his feelings.

when he met you, he felt like he could do anything. you were such a strong and lovable person in his eyes, he admired you for everything you did. chenle was more than infatuated with you.

you and chenle weren’t the closest, but you had jisung as your mutual friend. so, hanging out together was inescapable . before meeting chenle, you expressed your concerns, worrying if it would be too awkward. all of your concerns went down the drain the minute you met him. he felt like a breath of fresh air, you couldn’t get enough of him.

“oh no i don’t! just wanted to see what your secret admirer had got you” chenle wiggled his eyebrows with a smirk.

you ultimately opened the box, revealing a silver necklace. you graze your fingers over the shining piece, your fingers slowly reach onto the locket in the middle. as you open the locket, you see a picture of you and chenle. you smile to yourself as you rub your finger over the picture.

you guys were at a cafe, jisung had insisted on taking a photo of you 3, with you in the middle. you reminisce on the feeling of chenle’s hand wrapped around your waist, how your burning cheeks were more than noticeable in the picture. you let out a soft giggle at the memory, now looking up at chenle.

you watched how tense he was. fidgeting with his hands, shifting from one foot the other. you let out a beaming smile, getting up to wrap your arms around his neck. you felt him slowly relax at your touch, feeling him sway you both back and forth.

he whispered in your ear, “i’m guessing you got the hint..”

you remove yourself from the crook of his neck, looking up at him with a sparkle in your eyes.

jisung clears his throat, waving his hands in between you guys. “um, hate to interrupt my best friends completely ignoring me for the past 20 minutes.. but wasn’t i in that picture too?” he trails his eyes back and forth between you guys, with a soft glare.

“oh yeah! i cropped you out!” chenle smiles innocently.

jisung dramatically clenches his chest, slowly stumbling back at the attack he had received.

“chenle.. you are dead to me.” chenle giggles at his best friend’s reaction.

chenle looks at the seat next to yours, rolling his eyes at jisung’s backpack. he shoves it to the side and makes himself comfortable in his new self assigned seat.

“this is mine now! thanks jisung, for keeping it all warm for me!”

jisung sighs as he slides into the seat behind you, watching with a playful smirk as you plan your first date with chenle.
