How to hide body of posts on home page and tag search pages in Tumblr?
I wanted to only show titles of posts on the home page and on tagged pages. I wanted this feature for several reasons.
Google would be better able to work out what is the authoritative page for the content
I expect that most people will find pages using Google
I want to be able to index interest in particular posts using Google Analytics. Thus, if people are largely viewing content from the home page, this will be more difficult.
I wanted people to be able to see at a glance what was the content of the site, and be able to click what was of interest.
I am gradually getting used Tumblr theme customisation (see documentation.
I primarily use “Text” Posts, thus, I modified the HTML template in the section under {block:Text}. I altered the existing {Body} tag to be as follows.
Enclosing content between {block:PermalinkPage} and {/block:PermalinkPage} tells Tumblr to only display the content on Permalink pages (i.e., not on the home page, and not on tag search pages.
