this is so inspiring. Thank you for that. I am writing a book of my own and also grew up reading the wof and wc series.

I was a Wings of Fire kid. I initially grew up reading Warrior cats, and then discovered Wings of Fire a few years later, roughly around the age of ten. I instantly fell in love with the world, the characters, just everything about it. It didn’t take long before it was my next big obsession- I wrote Wings of Fire fanfiction in notebooks, made up my own OCs for it, roleplayed, told my friends about it, tried to get my hands on the new books any way I could, and watched animations and speedpaints of Wings of Fire on YouTube obsessively. As a kid who loved reading and writing, I watched interviews of Tui Sutherland, the author, on YouTube, and fantasized about being just like her one day. I didn’t fully grow out of this phase until I was about 13, but I still tried to keep up with the books that had helped carry such a big part of my childhood.

Fast forward many years later. I’m now a self published author promoting 3 fantasy novels of my own. I open up the page for my third book, Sisters of Vipers, on Kobo Books, to check on it. I scroll down the page to see what books are being recommended alongside it. And what do I see?

It took almost a whole day for the true weight of this to sink in. My book, shelved alongside some of the books that carried my childhood. I still own my copy of Darkstalker, still remember how it felt to read that book for the first time and be blown away. This is the kind of thing that author dreams are made of, and I’m so grateful to everyone who helped make this possible. TL;DR: Never kill yourself, a book you wrote could end up shelved next to Wings of Fire one day.
