I’ve used a similar example to our unit chair for this weeks post, except I am looking at emotion that can be put into students multimodal texts.
As you can see in the video, Olivia shows so much passion about insecurities she feels in the schooling community, something that can relate to a lot of students in middle year learning. Emotion is amazing in bringing out the detail in stories to create insightful writing, triggering the readers engagement and feel of the story.

Goal: Target specific points of the curriculum.
The first resource that Simon the cat is absolutely amazed at is the Australian Curriculum English - Developing Comprehension Skills and Word Knowledge: Book Pack. This resource is filled with lesson planning ideas that relate to texts for every primary level. It makes it great to create or use for activities and to develop assessment tools. I myself need to develop my own comprehension skills, so this resource would support my teaching majorly.

The second resource is found online called One Stop English. In previous assignments and developing my own lesson goals, One Stop English has provided me with many key teaching points that relate to curriculum goals. The main takeaway from this resource is the engaging lessons you can use through themes, to keep students motivated to learn.

The Teach Starter Blog provides fun ways to inject learning into the classroom as well as alternative ways to provide learning opportunities for students. I have used this to design lessons for Prep students which made it very simple to provide engaging content for literacy lessons.
This blog also shows ideas how to set up the classroom to make it visually appealing for the students to learn in, something that is vital in Prep learning as they come into the school program learning through the visuals around them.

This poster I made is to remind students to make their work interesting! This is highly useful as it allows middle-year learners to expand their vocabulary and produce writing pieces that will engage the reader, as well as expand their own knowledge.

Andy Griffiths is still to this day one of my favourite authors. His work in the “Just” series gave me the biggest laughs in class when it was quiet reading time, much to the dissatisfaction of my teacher. The Just Crazy novel was filled with little picture doodles to relate to the writing which helped me immensely in my learning as I learn majorily through visual cues.
Reading to children in school helps engage them in learning and can act as a calming influence after a long day in the classroom. Instead of using ICT, I chose to read stories to the children on placement as today’s generation spend heaps of time looking at a screen and not necessarily understand the context.
