also this is a side note but how come no one ever talks about how in the future (orbweaver???) lex taking on the caretaker role for hannah since she was like 7 yrs old is going to have such bad consequences on not just her psyche obviously, but her future relationship with hannah? like what happens when hannah starts to try and strain for independance and lex is unable to separate herself from that protective role and a rift forms in their relationship.

what if lex doesn't know who she is if she's not the person taking care of hannah. what if lex is so scared to find out that she subconsciously takes every step to make sure she never does. (or do u think itd all be chill and end up fine idk)

The only downside to talking to small children like they’re normal people and treating them like normal people (as per my mom) is that as they develop into bigger children they are viscerally aware of every single moment in which they are pandered to like stupid little accessories (as per my dad, my teacher, the special ed aide, every adult in my middle school) and you end up getting a lot of phone calls from people reporting your kid for (checks notes) “undermining authority”, “disrupting the classroom environment”, “disobeying elder peers”, and “unionizing the grade eleven gym class with intent to incite a mutiny” (as per me) and you end up with a Grown Adult who will absolutely encourage and enable other people’s children to fuck the sustem

Lore stuff under the cut:

- Pete was turned at 17 in his senior year, but has been a vampire for 3 years so is 20

- Steph was one year under him and is now 19, freshly graduated and taking a gap year to figure things out

- Pete was gonna go off to a fancy college, but decided to stay in Hatchetfield and take online school while he adjusts to living as a vampire (we’re not staying in high school, why would you choose to do that)

- Richie and Ruth both know, Ruth thinks it’s sexy, Richie thinks it’s awesome. They’re both away at college but they keep in touch

- How Pete got turned: so I decided Miss Holloway and Wilbur Cross have like a longstanding vampire feud in the background of this au, and Pete was just unfortunate enough to be out late while Wilbur was hunting. He was on deaths door what Miss Holloway found him and turned him to save his life.

- Miss Retro’s is the only place Pete can eat out at because she has a vampire special mostly just for him.

- Miss Holloway also has an arrangement with the blood bank, so she and Pete don’t have to hunt, which Pete finds both immoral and unsanitary.

- Vampire rules: you can eat human food, but it doesn’t really sustain you.

- direct sunlight does burn, but you’re good in the shade. On an overcast day it just kinda stings a little.

- they don’t have to be invited in, but they do have a counting compulsion, because I think that’s fun. Ted likes to mess with Pete by spilling things and watching him count it. This frustrates Pete very much.
