Fundamentally ex and hels are self destructive, putting them together is like trying to put out a grease fire with water
They know it, they revel in it. It's a you burn me I burn you and we both go up in flames kinda deal
But eventually the question does have to be posed, do they grow to care enough about each other that they'll let go or will they keep their claws buried in each other until the bitter end
That's what determines the outcome of their relationship, if they're going to be in it for the long haul or the quick thrill with the violent end
#I& think the problem is that they're not gonna form healthy relationship habits if they always stick together#they fall into a dynamic that's really toxic for the both of them but the more time passes like this#the more comfortable this toxicity becomes for them#it would just feel weird and wrong to not be judgemental for once#it would be a sign of weakness to show mercy#their comfort becomes this constant panopticon of watching each other's every step and salting each other's wounds#it IS the long haul. it's just not a good one

@anaalnathrakhs I& would normally have said that my& solution is that Cleo is a talking horse, but unfortunately as good as that would have been, I&'ve just drawn Cleo in pony petplay gear for this AU and that happens to also solve the talking problem

#the fact that they are a zombie just dressed as a horse never comes up in the plot btw.#everybody just treats them as a normal regular horse and doesn't comment on this#so it's more of a visual thing#However if you like the talking horse idea then feel free to go with that as well in your mind
