When people say “sexual preference” over saying “sexual orientation” IT MAKES ME SO MAD. It’s like, oh yes, I prefer eating kiwis over bananas, but I will still eat a banana if there are no kiwis. SEXUAL ORIENTATION DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK LIKE THAT. Sure sexuality can be fluid and some bi/poly/pansexual people prefer certain genders/sexes, but if someone is gay that is definitely not a “sexual preference.”
