Thanks for the feedback on Geralt! Decided he needed more love, and there was no reason to color him unless I pushed the line work to something interesting. Switched to a fine technical pen brush for some classic comic inking. With that I could actually give him some character. Here’s a #wip update since I won’t be able to art for a few days. Watching my brother play games got me aching to draw this guy. Procreate is really breaking out the kid in me. But with KH3 coming out soon, that’s okay! ...Also Vivi is just the best. Kinda struggled finding the silhouette but was a cinch afterwards. Tried finishing with the HB pencil brushes for a more children’s book look. Didn’t want to use too many layers or blend, keeping with a colored pencil vibe. But next time I’d like to try combining some water color. Tried out #procreate for the first time on my brand new iPad Pro. Dunno if I’ll use it for inking, but man I love it for sketching. Also just finished the recent #spidermanps4 game...holy crap the story was amazingly good. (Better than any of the movies, aside into the spiderverse) Not my GOTY, but definitely in the top 5. So I thought a doodle of the web slinger would be a great way to break it in. Love the time-lapse export feature. Really makes aware of how much time id spent going back and forth on anatomy, how inefficient I was. Do we matter? Im specifically talking about us as designers, artists, or creative people. Do artists matter? I have two personal stories that have helped me gauge and answer that question for...

This was an incredibly insightful post from Tom Bancroft, a former Disney animator and author. I never thought of art as much more than anything other than a challenge. A craft to perfect over the course of a lifetime. But he captures the importance of the humanities in less than 500 words.  Maybe it was because I had just watched the 2005 film WALK THE LINE and completely fell in love with the scene "One Song", but once in college I was in a discussion about two kinds of people who make 'stuff'. And I felt obligated to say that what makes art different than 'stuff' is the individual. They don't do it because they love it but because they need to. It's another necessity of living-- like breathing. It's almost like a psychological disorder. Don't make 'art' to impress others, because that would merely be 'stuff'. The only kind of art worth looking at is the kind you devout your life and meaning to.

Updated Merenen. When I first drew this I didn't know anything about the whole Faerie and Scholar job class. So turning the bug into a faerie seems like an obvious next step. The cheese is strong with this one.

So I've been working on some drawings from the drawer now that XIV is officially launched. I'd like to find more time to work on this one. All the costume along the pelvis is quite the challenge for a twerky pose. Still have some red lining to do.  More travel incoming, but I've got a large chunk of things already packed. So that's one monkey off my back.
