i get a whiplash every time i remember adele and taylor are just ONE year apart. cos while the former acts dignified and her music resonates with that of a woman her age and experiences, the other is perpetually stuck in a high school mentality (even then some high school students are more emotionally developed than her). so glad joe got out of that relationship but also genuinely worried about his next relationship because taylor just exposed herself as an unhinged ex 😭

First of all it's common sense that Joe would never reveal that he's dating someone, that too using Taylor's name.

Second, taylor has been getting all the backlash for airing out his mental health issues after the album release. people are supporting joe more openly than they did in 2023. so guess who needs to do the actual damage control? taylor and tree. They want to say that Joe is not a victim and he's moved on and is dating someone!

Also the article ends with Taylor, Travis and Eras tour and we know that Tree is People's bestie...so it's definitely from her side lol.

I’m noticing a trend that most people keep saying that they fell back into TS’s music during lover, folklore, or evermore when-thanks to Joe-she was at her most mature stage lyrically. She was finally self aware and seemed to understand that some of her critics were valid and she wasn’t this perfect pop princess. But without Joe it all fell apart. The facade ended. She was never self aware or mature-Joe was. She ruined her reputation and whether swifties like it or not, Joe revived it and brought her career back to new heights with a different and more adult audience. Hell, I’ll even admit that midnights was more mature and self aware than TTPD. The friendship bracelets were totally marketable and capitalistic of her but I’ll give props were it’s due- it was brilliant and united people through nostalgia which I loved. The problem is she got greedy fast and forgot the persona she put out before with Joe and he wanted to no parts that life and she dropped him and that personality and went back to the only thing she’s ever known-that same mean girl, drama craving, attention seeking nasty high school cliché attitude and it’s reflected in TTPD. So now all of her mature audience is leaving because no one came back for that cattiness, people gave her a chance because they thought she changed but nope

So context I've always been a casual TS listener ever since OG Speak Now dropped (we don't talk abt how she butchered my fave album of hers in this household 😂) then fell off her around 1989 cos I wasn't into the whole pop era of hers then came back with Folkmore

So during the pandemic I became That Taylor Swift friend 😭 and obviously fucked off after Matty but I have Swifties besties

Now I'm going through a similar breakup to her and Ratty and now all those besties keep sending me I Can Do It With A Broken Heart 🤢 and after a whole year of not listening to her I bit the bullet cos I'm nosy.

I regret listening to that and But Daddy I Love Him so so much because. The former is just tone deaf af - the birthday line is funny to me cos I am actually diagnosed with depression and my ex ghosted me on my birthday 😂😭 Coming from TS tho,, SO tone deaf and the last lines were so gross that I just didn't finish the song

Then with Daddy I Love Him, Dessner's production on that song - minus the background beat that sounds like Jack's stupid synth beats - is completely wasted on that cringey title and the overwritten lyrics

I do agree with this anon ask but I think the reason swifties can't acknowledge even slightly shitty things she does is because they've created an inner culture where you have to constantly one up other fans, essentially, to "prove" you really love taylor and are The Best swiftie.

Take for example that video on tiktok of the person with green hair who very clearly and embarrassingly set up their phone, hit record, and began sobbing so violently to one of her songs that they were drooling. To someone not in her cult that sort of thing is unthinkable to do, it's not normal. But to them and in this culture they've created, it's totally normal because it's supposed to send the message that "look, look her work makes me sob and drool all over myself in my car because it's just SO emotional and unlike those unintelligent antis I appreciate her music".

So to criticize her is antithetical to that culture, you can't be The Best swiftie if you're not on her side 24/7. If you're critical of her you're an anti and deserve to be harassed and dogged (not really but that seems to be their thought process you know?) swifties exist in this extreme of "you're either with her or against her" when in reality any artist should have space for criticism and critique because it's healthy and how artists grow and change and experiment. I think what stunts taylor pretty severely is the the extreme yes man culture she's surrounded herself with and that's evident with ttpd, it's an absolute dog water album but because she's surrounded by yes men she can put out garbage without anyone straight up telling her it's garbage which is detrimental to her as an artist
