I finally got a complete Marple DVD set, so I'm watching the show, and this episode came up again.

I know others have done lovely GIF sets of Mark Gatiss in Marple: Murder at the Vicarage, but I haven’t seen any with captions. After watching yesterday with the MGAS, I wanted to capture a few. Especially this one, as he looks so meek while saying the verse he’s quoting. 

I also noticed… the joke in the below is that he swaps the words in “Make us ever mindful of the needs of others,” but what is he doing with his hands? I have never seen anyone pray like that. Odd.

This piece was created with all the love I have for Sir Conan Doyle's detective and his biographer. Over the last six months my knowledge of Sherlock Holmes went from barely there to quite extensive (including but not limited to the stories themselves and the real life of victorian middle class people)

I'm quite aware this piece is anything but perfect but I've poured a lot of love (and time) into it.

Bookish Bits!

A new trailer dropped, and it looks amazing! Lots of fun lines and pretty pictures of Our Hero. So let's look at some. (Beard and glasses and curls and waistcoats and scarves, oh my!)

In case you weren't familiar with Bookish, Mark Gatiss plays a bookshop owner. Who solves mysteries.

There's also lots of tea drinking.

Such an important thing to remember - John Watson is exceptional. It's just that Sherlock Holmes is more so -- and more flashy.

(And the same goes for Lestrade.)

Now that I've finally seen The Avengers, I'm reading the Steed and Mrs. Peel comics. From issue #5 (2013), Steed is perfectly willing to play Watson to Mrs. Peel's Lady Holmes. (Written by Caleb Monroe, art by Yasmin Liang.)

Lego Mystrade Have a Picnic

Greg: "Gotta go, my ride's here."

After Anthea drives Mycroft and Greg to where their picnic has been set up...

Anthea: "Do you need anything else, sir?"

Mycroft: "No, this looks wonderful."

Greg: "Brilliant job, Ant. He doesn't pay you enough."

Anthea: "Well I know. I'll be off, then."

Greg: "How're we getting home?"

Mycroft: "She's leaving the Land Rover. Her girlfriend is picking her up. Ah, here she is now."

Greg: "(whistles) That's some flash car!"

Mycroft: "Only the best for her."

Greg: "Which is why she stays working for you."

Greg admired the slight blush that came over Mycroft's face as he reached for one of the sandwiches. Later, there would be chocolate and strawberries and sweet kisses.

Goodness that perspective makes his feet look quite large! I am also surprised he is wearing such basic socks, not in some bright color. But the overall tone of the painting is quite relaxing.

Inspired by watching The Avengers, I wrote "Bowler and Brolly" for Mystrade Monday, about two moments when Greg ponders Mycroft in a bowler hat, one after their first meeting, the other much later in their relationship.

Mycroft in the style of M.C. Escher

Based on Hand with Reflecting Sphere

@my-citrus-pocket requested an M.C. Escher style Mycroft piece about 18 months ago (!) as part of this series of paintings based on the work of famous artists. I stupidly picked just about the hardest Escher piece I could find and then turned it into a full colour painting.

A Cozy Night In

If Mycroft had realized that adding a bed/sitting room to his office would have meant Sherlock sleeping more often, he would have done it much sooner.

The men enjoy a cozy night in, as Mycroft plays a favorite song of their childhood and Greg relaxes with a classic read (Robin Hood) while keeping an eye on the brothers to make sure they both get the rest they need.

Grits, made well (with milk and cheese), are so warm and comforting. Although I'm more likely to have them for dinner with a) shrimp or b) salmon and mushrooms.

Coffee, on the other hand -- aren't there better ways to wake yourself up other than with bitter acid?

I am sad for Sherlock. He's trying and everyone is being mean!
