Men are notoriously bad at opening up about this kind of thing, although these two aren’t doing badly. Freeman says he talks to his girlfriend, the French actress Rachel Mariam, about “a lot of stuff because she’s kind of my best friend and my confidante. And I’ve got a few very good friends, more than Chris. Tony has not given him many friends.”
i choose to believe that this movie was originally going to feature a kiss between Doctor Strange and Black Panther's Everett Ross (portrayed by Martin Freeman) basically just so i can start a new tumblr legend i like to call "The Johnlock Conspiracy 2: Marvel Edition". i want all the closet superwholocks who follow me to make a big fuss about how evil homophobic disney axed johnlock2. because it would be funny.
In Bilbo's defense, I, too, would have been quite upset if a person I just met invited 13 strangers to my house without telling me, and they all started rearranging my house while eating literally every speck of food I have in my kitchen, then came up with a song on the fly poking fun at me and how strict I'm being.
have y’all seen the behind the scenes of the filming of Thorin’s death because omg why didn’t they use THAT take where Thorin gives an even bigger and wider smile in his last moments as he looks up at the love of his life, and then Bilbo is like “the Eagles are here, Thorin, hmmm? hmm?” trying to get a reaction from Thorin and forcing a smile of total denial … and then he just breaks mid-sentence, his face crumpling into a silent scream as if his soul is being ripped from his body…not that they weren’t great in the take used in the finished scene, but THAT take was even more gut-wrenching work from Richard Armitage and the greatest piece of acting I’ve ever seen from Martin Freeman.
