The Special Pampers

The nursery smelled like baby powder and warm milk, the air thick with comfort, with safety. Stuffed animals lined the crib, the mobile above it spinning lazily, casting soft shadows on the walls. The changing table was stocked high with thick, crinkly diapers—normal ones, everyday ones. But not the ones Daddy had just unfolded with deliberate care.

The special ones.

The ones with the extra-thick padding, the extra-cute baby prints, the ones that made his head feel all fuzzy and warm and… empty.

He sat on the floor in just his t-shirt and diaper, sucking absently on his pacifier, fingers twitching in his lap. He shouldn’t have been able to think like this—so clearly, so aware—but it always happened before Daddy taped one on. The moment it was snug, everything changed.

And he knew it.

“Daddy?” he murmured around his paci, looking up as Daddy turned from the changing table, fresh Pampers in hand.

“Yes, baby?”

He shifted, his current diaper squishing beneath him. He had no idea when it had gotten wet. He didn’t remember needing to go, didn’t remember doing it, but there it was—puffy, warm, soaked through, and totally unnoticed until now.

That was new.

And he knew why.

“Uhm…” He sucked harder, cheeks warming, struggling to find the words. “I—I think… I f’got sumthin’.”

Daddy kneeled in front of him, smiling gently. “What do you mean, sweetheart?”

His fingers twitched again, grasping at something—some memory, some skill, something that had been his before the last diaper change but was now completely out of reach. He whimpered.

“Last time… last time you put me in one of the special Pampers…” He hesitated, pressing his hands between his legs, feeling the sodden padding there. “I—I knew when I was wet before. I knew when I hadta tell you. But… now…” His lips wobbled. “I dunno no more.”

Daddy cupped his cheek, thumb stroking soft, slow circles. “Oh, baby,” he cooed, voice filled with warmth, with reassurance. “That’s because little ones like you don’t need to know when they’re soggy.”

His breath hitched.

“But I did know before…” he whispered. “And now I don’t.”

Daddy only smiled, guiding him gently onto the changing mat. “And after this change, baby? I wonder what you’ll forget next.”

His pacifier bobbed in his mouth as he whimpered softly, squirming as Daddy lifted his legs and slid the special Pampers underneath him. The thickest ones. The ones that always made him feel so floaty, so little, so… empty.

His thoughts swirled, slow and sleepy.

Maybe next time… maybe next time he wouldn’t even know how to ask.

And maybe… just maybe… he wouldn’t mind at all.

Good morning ☀️ I decided that I’m not allowed out of my heavy nighttime diaper until I clear all four wetness indicators on this Waddler, but as you can see, baby boy was less than thrilled to find that he’s lightly hit the two rows around back and the front is totally untouched 😩 A nice bottle of milk helped calm me down, but it looks like it’s gonna be a while until I’m ready for a change! 9:24am PDT

Hope I can get in for your morning diaper check

It’s morning for one more minute, so let’s see how we’re doing! Looks like I’ve just about cleared out all the wetness indicators on this 3x thick diaper, so I’ll be heading off to take a bath soon… after some squishy-time with Mickey (don't worry, I was a good boy and stopped before I made stickies.) - 11:59am PDT

Sending in a bedtime for you tomorrow, we’re sticking with the 8 PM sharp but next week I think we can finally start pushing it into 7 o’ clock territory!

I guess I’ll just be happy that I got to stay up to 8pm on a Saturday then, I should enjoy it while I can! Tonight’s bedtime lineup: M4+XL booster+blue Str8Up and the mandatory plastic pants, onesie and full bottle finished before lights out. Sorry for the noise at the end, but there are a lot of adults driving around, though I’m not sure what they’re doing out so very late. I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch, but if everything goes according to plan, I’ll be going to bed at 7pm in a crib by the end of the year, stay tuned! - 8:01pm PDT

I actually totally broke routine today and hung out with a friend, but I still got home with enough time to get ready and tucked at 7 like a good little boy! Tonight’s diaper line up: Str8Up, XL booster & heavy cloth diaper, plus baby print plastic pants and onesie. Goodnight! 🌙 7:01pm PDT

Also for tomorrow, time for the standard 7 PM bedtime routine!

It’s Saturday night and I’ve got a hot date! A 7pm date with a triple thick diaper, a full bottle and my pillow to be exact, which is more than enough excitement for a baby such as myself. Tonight’s diaper line-up: Str8Up, XL booster and heavy cloth diaper plus the usual plastic pants and onesie. I’m not feeling too fussy tonight, mostly because I got word that my crib is almost complete and should be ready to ship in the next week or two! Going to bed early gets me one day closer to that a little faster, so it’s time for this sleepy lil’ sailor to drift off to dreamland! - 6:59pm PST

So, how's that triple diaper holding up this morning? After such a full bottle and a bit of a presoak, I'd imagine it's definitely a little soggy :)

More than a little soggy for sure! I’ve hit the middle of the outer diaper and the inner M4+booster is totally soaked, so I should be due for a change pretty soon. Hopefully the ouchie on my arm isn’t too distracting 🤷‍♂️ - 11:38am PST

7pm bedtimes used to be a challenge, now every Saturday I’m yawning at 5:30 and out like a light before some people have started making dinner. I’ve received a few messages from people who’d like to see more of my plastic pants, so I’m doing something slightly different tonight and waiting until I finish my pre-bedtime bottle to snap up my onesie. Tonight’s three-layer diaper lineup: Rearz Critter Caboose, Abena M4, Northshore 2XL booster, which should keep this heavily-padded little prince nice and dry well into the morning. - 6:58pm PST
